Before Ebari's last visit to Varya, he had someone else relay the information to the emperor that he was going off-planet for personal reasons. The move was calculated, and he imagined Emperor Kruos being offended by the gesture.
Now that he had returned, he was met with the problem of having to face the emperor in order to speak to him about Varya.
Before he could devise a way to approach him about that topic, each status update was done when there were many others around. Emperor Kruos hadn't asked for Ebari's presence otherwise.
Ever since Ebari had been apprehended, he knew there was a change in the emperor and he seemed colder than usual even toward him. Those serving him were suffering from uncalled-for punishment whenever he blew up at them for little to no reason.
Ebari had to remind himself that the emperor was going to have to get hurt in order to save the woman he had already promised so much to.
