Not once did Varya find sleep through the night. Each time her eyes closed, she imagined what the next day had in store for her. The tender treatment from the prince would be a thing of the past. The aliens she had seen on Planet Ptoma looked far from gentle - their bulging muscles and large size gave them an intimidating appearance. After already being attacked by one of them and seeing how hopeless it was when she didn't have someone to protect her, she was scared for her life. There were no rules here. All she had been instructed to do was 'be enthusiastic'.
Armis came to Varya's room and gave her instructions on her appearance and what she was to do when her room was unlocked. The alien woman was still very cold and uncaring about Varya's feelings. It was clear she was there to make money and expected Varya to treat it that way as well.
