On Thursday morning, Gabriel did not go to the fountain as usual. In fact, he had stood near the back wall of the school where he had waited for his blonde friend. While waiting immersed in silence, he looked at the clear sky sighing heavy.
It's been a long time since he had wondered what the hell is going on with him. He was surprised at his every behaviour when it came to Theodore, and in the last few days it seemed to get worse. Flashing slowly, he repeated to himself that he would not deal with his insane thoughts now.
― What's up!
The cautious low voice did not match the usual Milles. Nor his smell, which seemed different. Turning his head to his friend, Gabriel smiled gently leaving his hands in his pants pocket.
― Good morning. What a bad face.
The athlete had lifted a sneaky smile, throwing the backpack on the floor to lean against the wall next to Gabriel.
― It was a bad night. To close the day, yesterday I had a fight with my father and now I want to blow up this shitty world.
Milles kept the Rogue smile on his face, but it didn't seem to have the same glow as it usually did. He looked too tired. Gabriel then stroked his friend's shoulder giving him a minimum of comfort.
― Arguing with the parents is normal, you don't have to get caught up in it.
― Not the first time, I'm used to it. I'm just laughing at the coincidence of shit happening in a single day.
― Just pretend nothing happened. You know he did it just to provoke you, if you reacts differently he'll think he won.
— I know. ― Milles sighed leaning his head against the wall, looking at the sky then closing his eyes. ― What fucks me is not that. I'm pissed at myself.
Arching his brow in confusion, Gabriel continued to stare at his friend.
― What do you mean?
— I've been with several girls, from the most restrained to the most abused. I admit, I prefer the wild ones because they seem thirsty to be with me... ― He slowly opened his eyes, taking his hand out of his pocket to touch his own injured lip ― But it's the first time anyone has ever wanted to hurt me with a kiss.
Gabriel had not fully understood the point his friend wanted to make. Nor had he dared interrupt him. Milles seemed lost in his own thoughts as he stroked his own mouth. Then the blond man lowered his hand into his pocket again.
― I don't know if I'm following you, man.
Milles had dislodged the wall, cluttering his hair furiously. He even growled, seeming to irritate himself. When the blond man looked around, Gabriel had imitated him thinking if he was looking for someone nearby. But they were alone in that part of the school.
― I'm pissed at myself because I was surprised by what happened yesterday.
― Well, that's obvious. There's no reason to be mad for not reacting.
― That's not what I mean. How can I say that... Shit that's so complicated...
― Calm down, man, take your time.
― I felt a connection.... I liked it! ― It had exploded Milles, staring at his friend looking to lose his head at any moment.
Wide-eyed and half-open in amazement, Gabriel closed it when his brain had returned to work.
― H-How is it? I don't think I understand...
― No, you got it right Gabriel. I'm not gonna say it out loud one more time.
― Sorry, I'm still processing the information.
― Strange is not it? ― Laugh Milles, approaching the desperate friend ― I think I'm like that because the intention of that bastard was to punish me, to screw me in some way.
Gabriel could not look away from his friend, who seemed on the edge of the precipice of despair. He tried to follow his reasoning, which in itself was a difficult task, since Milles seemed extremely confused. Trying to find some clue in his words, Gabriel had reflected on the conversation. Gabriel's surprise slowly increased as he understood what his friend meant.
― So... you're saying Nicolas's kiss was wild the way you like it?
Quickly Milles had covered Gabriel's mouth, looking around with his injected eyes. With no one around, he turned to his friend sighing low.
— It was the first thing that came into my head. Shit that little guy was aggressive, even after he bit me he was still there. ― He murmured Milles, lowering his eyes. ― What pissed me off was not only that.
Managing to get rid of the hand that covered his mouth, Gabriel took a deep breath watching his friend close his eyes as if something hurt. Such a painful expression had made the Alpha attentive to helping Milles in an emergency.
What could make your friend so angry at himself, besides admitting to enjoying being kissed by another guy? Even more, to be kissed by the person with whom else fight? Was there anything else besides that?
Only if he were to lose his mind because he like Nicolas.
A slap had struck Gabriel's head.
― You want to be with him, for real.
The way Milles looked at him seemed someone guilty being caught red-handed committing his greatest crime. Even averting his eyes raised his suspicions. Now he could understand why his friend seemed so tired.
Milles used to tease Nicolas and Theodore every day. He had already had to deal with different types of reactions, from the most explosive to the simplest like a roll of eyes. It was part of Gabriel's routine to see Milles and Nicolas exchanging barbs.
Then he is suddenly kissed by the person he hates most. A kiss that could be violent laden with malice. A kiss that made him feel a connection. How not to feel confused?
— I asked Theodore what it was like to be kissed by another guy, and ultimately this happened. ― The sign from the beginning of the classes had touched, and Milles leaned to pick up the backpack from the ground throwing it over his shoulders ― You also asked me this, so I can only say to experiment and draw your own conclusions. Let's go.
Gabriel only agreed with his head by arranging the backpack strap and following his friend into the building. He dared not question anything more of Milles, since the other had opened up to himself they had met that year.
When they arrived in the hallway of the rooms, the two friends met precisely with the duo they should least see. Theodore had looked at Gabriel smiling lightly before staring at Milles, who in turn stared at the sleepy little man.
If Milles looked like a zombie for spending his night thinking about what happened, well Nicolas was the opposite. Tiredness was routine in his person, yet he looked well. He had even opened a sneaky smile, holding the gaze of the highest.
― Oh... looks like somebody had a pretty rough night.
― Nico... ― Rebuke Theodore
― Are you worried about me already, Dipshit?
― Worried? Me? See yourself.
Nicolas rolls his eyes completely ignoring the pair of players to enter the classroom. Theodore sighed following his friend, leaving Gabriel curious about the reaction. He imagined that Nicolas would be more willing to fight with Milles.
Just as he imagined your friend would act differently after the conversation he had. Looking from the corner at the alpha, he realized that he was facing the classroom seriously.
― Is everything all right?
— I'm not gonna fall on my knees to this asshole, Gabriel. Nothing's changed. ― Milles gave a light slap on the back of his friend, turning to the corridor ― I'll go, see you at practice later.
― Right...
Watching his friend quietly follow to the classroom, Gabriel realized that the phrase "nothing has changed" was a big lie.
