Chapter 20 - overlapping reflection...

Astrid leaned back on a soft and comfy sofa, slightly slanting her eyes to look at the woman sitting opposite to her, who comfortably propped up her legs on the coffee table & repeated the same process of polishing her knives, I couldn't help but doubt if you could perhaps sharpen your blade from a piece of cloth, I mean maybe you need exceptional talent to do it but still…

It was already late into midday; I couldn't help but caressing her stomach due to hunger. That man said he would return in an hour for breakfast, and it was already way past that time. Everything happened so fast, I can't believe that I am now waiting for my captor to have breakfast, whatever, eating is important.

Astrid turned her attention toward the glass window & admired her new look, her original silver hairs was colored to dark midnight shade. 'Really a piece of art', she thought. Before, I could continue to admire myself anymore, I saw a new reflection overlapping my own. And I turned to look at its source.

Astrid looked at Vincent who entered the room followed by Noah entering the room, it suddenly seemed as if the previously spacious room was cramped due the overwhelming aura from these two men.

"You are late", Elena chimed without lifting her head.

"We couldn't get away from that old witch", Noah grumbled in a dissatisfied tone.

"Did you get it?", she followed…

"Yeah, but I don't know why everyone is going crazy about it. It looks like just any other ordinary crown to me", he said.

Vincent gave Noah a warning glare and position himself next to Astrid and very naturally spread his arms on the top of back wedge. Astrid listened to their conversation, she stiffened when they mention the crown but instantly collected her calm & folded her arms, moving further to a side when Vincent moved himself to sit near to her.

Vincent smiled at her movement and moved himself toward her with mischief…

Elena & Noah looked at his childish behaviors in trance. Elena signaled Noah with her eyes, 'is he the real Vincent.' Noah shrugged his shoulders in response, while Astrid gave Vincent a look full of disgust. Vincent only grinned innocently.

At this time, four servants entered the room with a food trolly and placed a plate freshly made fruit tartes, sandwiches, salads & boiled eggs with various flavors of freshly squeezed juice.

They quickly severed everyone with their breakfast, and nobody bothered to go to the dining table. It was a quick and casual meal. But Astrid still felt very awkward eating with a group of strangers especially when she has not had a single meal with others in years. Moreover, it was very hard for her to digest these new flavors, it was highly unsettling for her stomach...

Such a nice meal left her with distaste, especially when eaten with so many thoughts.

Time passes quite quickly when such evading thoughts are swirling in your mind.

"Should I guess that you will know how to interact with most of the guests present today and you won't show any clumsy behavior in front of everyone." Vincent suddenly asked her, pulling her mind out of her thoughts, while as he cleaned the corner of his lips with napkin.
