Chapter 10 - Breaking Dawn

'Chirp… chirp…'

Astrid was disturbed by continuous chirping of the birds & reluctantly open her eyes and looked in the direction of the terrace, which was partially closed by the curtains & the rays of dawn that eluded into the room through it. How many years has it been since she had seen such a beautiful & bright morning light.

She got out of her bed, but her feet wobbled a little as she felt hangover from all those drinks she had last night, sadly she didn't remember what happened after that. 'I didn't know I was such a lousy drunk' she said to herself.

She looked around at the room, last night she didn't pay much attention to it. She lightly gazed at the magnificent cream furnishing inlaid with gold, Lilac velvet curtains over soft creamy ones which had intricate embroidery with golden threads, & Murals telling the tails of their heroic ancestors. This placed screamed luxury and splendor of its owner.

She walked barefoot at the almost freezing ground & moved towards the terrace which had a variety of flora planted & delicate ivy crept over the railing, it was quite picturesque.

But what moved me was ethereal horizon dyed with orange-red color of the breaking dawn which painted everything else in its own color & the vegetation was covered with a dense veil of fog, it was so pure, as if untouched by anything unholy, away from everything, isolated yet in complete harmony.

I sat on the ivory couch, leaned back & crossed my legs, trying to capture some more looks of the beauty in front of her.

But someone without eyes had to disturb me.

"Good morning, little birdie", Vincent meaningfully smiled at me, he stood at the terrace of the adjacent room though it didn't make a difference as it was just separated by a short fence.

"Why do you look at me like that", she grumblingly asked.

"Don't tell me you don't remember what happened last night", he acts shocked, but couldn't hide that nasty mirth in his eyes.

"What happened", I questioned with some vigilance, I had a premonition that I was not going to like what he was going to say.

"Trixie first come to me & have some tea with me, it is such a lovely weather, don't you agree."

No one has called me that in ages, but how did he know my nickname. Shit, what else nonsense did I spew last night. I slowly walked towards him, not looking affected by his words. But his smiling eyes made me want to punch them black. I smiled at the mere thought of it.

I elegantly lifted my dress which I didn't have the time to change, also because I don't have anything else, jumped over the fence & gracefully landed at my feet & strode towards him like a proud feline.
