'I will take good care of you…', a choking sweet voice repeatedly reverberated in darkness, driving her insane, she struggled to escape from it, but it kept chasing her. She felt biting cold all over her and numbing sensation slowly spread through her limbs, weakening her will to even breath.
When she felt like she will be forever stuck in this loop, suddenly, she smelled cool fragrance of wet earth around her, which surprisingly helped her in soothing her tense nerves and she instantly broke away from her nightmare… 'It is not real…'
I opened my eyes and stared at my dim surrounding, only to find someone staring back at me.
"I didn't mean to intrude, I just wanted to deliver this medicine for your wounds", Vincent said to me even though he didn't sound very remorseful for his intrusions.
"oh", I replied, my voice sounded very ragged due to my parched throat.
"You know you are very suspicious and just now, the mana around you went erratic. It was not natural, and you look quite mature, but why can't you still properly regulate it." He leaned toward me and held my wounded arms… what does he wants now.
"click"
"Ahh…", I groaned at the sudden incoming pain, and bit my inner cheek, trying to suppress them. He actually helped me fix my arms, I really thought I would have to do it on my own.
Vincent strangely looked at the girl before him, everything about her looked like a mystery to him, her appearance today was just too coincidental. Yet, he couldn't it in himself to simply dispose of her as he usually did, those people either said it or remained silent forever…
Maybe It was something in those golden eyes that wanted him to find more about them. He no longer wanted to care about it, so he simply turned to leave.
Astrid endured the pain and sat up feeling wet and sticky, she didn't know if it was because of the nightmare or the pain, she slowly moved to get out of the bed and quietly creeped around for something to drink. She looked at the silver jar, which was covered with a lid and held it up to sniff.
"Good wine", she sighed to herself and simply served herself with some dried fruits and while filling her chalice with wine. She really needed some wine to calm her aching body. she didn't remember the last time she had alcohol, maybe it was a long time ago, but it was just a few small sips to make some toasts. Huh… It was so warm and sour, just like before…
Then she looked at the medicine placed at the countertop and simply decided to gulp it down with the wine. I don't expect it to help much either way. But it did react quite strongly with the alcohol.
I felt heat allover myself and I started to feel a tinsy bitsy tipsy… But I was not… drunk.
Moreover, why is my head so heavy...
"Oye, what is this thing on my head, get it off…" she stood up, trying to battle against the monster coiled against her head, but she couldn't figure out where her feet went and she stumbled down, knocking down various thing with her.
"Oi, oi… where are my feet"
