On the eve of 1992, a tragedy happened in a house in Wall Street, a young child named Mary was found dead in her room, she had been suffocated and on her face were paw like prints. Her parents found something that looked like an ouija board on her bed right where she died, The police dismissed any connection of the ouija board to the murder. Mary was only 13 and her family of three which included her parents and her only sister were shattered. But Mary's elder sister who was 15 year old held onto the ouija board believing that it might have answers to the gruesome death of her sister.
But then she started hearing and seeing things, things that you might call unnatural.
The police were at Mary's house again questioning her parents, it was as if the questions were the same old questions everyday.
"How old was she?"
"Did she show any signs of depression?"
"Did she mention anything about being in danger?"
"Have there been any sightings of a wild animal in the house or anywhere in the street". They were done early today, but they also requested to talk to Mary's sister, Alice.
The detective visibly showed sympathy for the loss of the family.
"What's your name, again?" he asked
"it's Alice Cooper" Alice answered, she rolled her eyes to withhold tears that were coming to her eyes
The detective saw this and touched her shoulder "I am very sorry for the death of your sister, but I promise that I'll do all I can to get to the root of her death. I'll make this real quick, okay? bear with me". Alice nodded and cuddled herself up in the chair.
"You went to the same school with Mary, was she ever bullied by anyone?"
"No, never not when I was there and she was loved by all anyway".
"Was there anything she might have told you that you think would be useful to this investigation?"
"I've thought about that, even though she was a more of a private girl, she usually told me some important stuff" Alice answered
The detective nodded "Did she tell you about the Ouija board on her bed, like where she got it from?"
"She didn't tell me that, I thought the police have dismissed any connection of the board to her death" Alice answered.
The detective smiled and said "We are keeping our options wide open here, and my colleague might want to work with what is considered reality but I believe somethings about the supernatural, now do you believe that the ouija board have a connection whatsoever to the death of your sister"
Alice didn't expect a detective asking her such a question but deep down in her heart, she believed that the ouija board had a connection to Mary's death. "Yes, yes I believe that"
"Was that why you asked that it be given back to you after the police dismissed it's connection?" The detective asked
"I guess, it reminds me of Mary and the suffering she might have passed through that night before she died and if I have my way with anything that killed my sister, I'll make it shudder and beg desperately for mercy before I snatch it's life away and throw it into the darkest part of hell" Alice said.
The detective looked marveled at the words that she just said
"Well, you won't have to do that, young lady" the detective said "we're done here, thank you for your time".
Everything was never the same, the family didn't talk much at the dining table, Mary was usually the one who didn't talk much when she was there. Mom and dad seemed to argue more often, the coldness between the family members could not be mistaken, the demise of Mary seemed to tear them farther from each other. Alice dragged her feet to school everyday and she never seemed to hear whatever the teachers were saying. The police called less often than in the early weeks of the murder, the family didn't need anyone to tell them that the police were also giving up on the case, there was just nothing, no evidences, every suspect have been considered carefully and cleared. Mom and dad also seemed to be moving om
Alice was far from getting over the incident, she was not going to give up on her sister, she wasn't there to protect her but she wasn't going to let her down now that she was dead.
The only thing she possessed in connection with her sister's death was the ouija board, so she started a research about it.
Her best friend Esther was very comforting and was always with her. Alice didn't want to let anyone know of the extensive research she was doing about the ouija board but she decided that her best friend Esther could help her but Esther freaked out when she saw the board, "No, no no, I don't ever want to see it again, take it away from here".
"Okay okay, I'm putting it back into my bag" Alice said surprised at the outburst of Esther. "Hey, what's wrong with that, have you ever seen it before?" Esther now realized how much fuss she had made, she tried to act calm again "No, it's nothing I just heard that they had demon spirits that could......".
"That could what?"Alice asked eagerly
Esther shrugged, " I heard that, that's all I heard"
