Chapter 12 - Looking For Trouble (1)

Chen Muxue saw that Lin Qing and the rest didn't chase after her, so she started to walk back leisurely.

It couldn't be helped. After all, there was only one restaurant in town, and the others were all small eateries. And logically speaking, no one would wait there, right?

While humming a song, Chen Muxue even spent two wens to buy a basket to store the bamboo shoots.

She didn't know if this bamboo shoot, which was made from wood spirit root and water spirit root, would have a different flavor.

She walked unsteadily into the restaurant. The waiter glanced at Chen Muxue and immediately waved his hand as if he was chasing away a fly. "Go away. We don't buy bamboo shoots here. We have a fixed supply."

Chen Muxue was stunned for a moment, then she smiled and said, "I'm not here to sell bamboo shoots. Call your manager over. I have something to discuss with him."

The waiter sized up Chen Muxue again, then chuckled. "Young lady, if you're not here to eat, then leave. We're busy here."

Chen Muxue looked at her own clothes. The dress made of fine cotton was simple and unadorned. Moreover, this dress was really quite old. In addition, it was stained with muddy water from the fight earlier. At first glance, she did look quite disheveled.

Although this waiter looked down on her, she had to convince him.

Chen Muxue took down the wok on her back and weighed it in her hands. "Little Brother, you've thought it through. I'm not bragging about this wok."

The wok was very cooperative, and it flashed with a ding.

The waiter saw that Chen Muxue was holding such an honest-looking metal wok, but it gave people the feeling that she was holding a fly swatter. He couldn't help but take two steps back.

"Hehe, you're welcome, you're welcome. This humble waiter will go and call the manager!" The waiter nodded and bowed before running away.

At this moment, the manager was welcoming an important guest on the second floor.

"Immortal Elder, this way, please! Immortal Elder's arrival has really brought light to our humble restaurant!"

Cen Li, who was dressed in the signature white robe of the Immortal Sect, had one hand behind his back. He was dressed meticulously. Even when he was walking in Chen Pu's small restaurant, he gave off the illusion that he was walking in the pavilion corridor of an immortal palace.

He sat down gracefully, and the unremarkable room suddenly became a landscape painting.

The manager swallowed his saliva and did not dare to breathe.

What was going on today? First, it was the disciples of the Sky Cloud Sect, and now, it was the big boss of the celestial gate! What kind of wind could blow a big shot from the Immortal Sect into his ordinary little restaurant?

Although he knew that there were many cultivators like the sixth elder of the Sky Cloud Sect, who pursued good food, he still couldn't help but sigh.

It wasn't like he didn't know what his family's food tasted like. He still knew his own limits!

The cubicles were very simple. They were called 'cubicles', but in fact, they were simply separated by screens.

Through the hollowed-out patterns on the screen, Cen Li could clearly see Chen Muxue waiting downstairs. He nodded in satisfaction and said, "This is a good spot."

'If I can't eat it in the Heavenly Cauldron Sect secretly, I'll eat it openly here.' His gaze was fixed on the basket that Chen Muxue had placed on the table.

"Is that so? Look, this is our signature dish." The shopkeeper carefully handed over a bamboo book that was slightly covered in pulp.

"Manager, there's a young lady downstairs looking for you." The waiter found the manager at this moment.

The manager resisted the urge to slap the waiter's head. He gritted his teeth and whispered, "Don't you see who I'm talking to?"

The waiter glanced at Cen Li and shivered. "Um..."

"Since someone's looking for you, don't make them wait too long." Cen Li looked at the bamboo book menu, and a look of disdain flashed in his eyes.

'F*ck, it's all covered in pulp. How many people have touched it?"

He had wanted to drink tea to hide his emotions, but when he brought the cup in front of him, he hesitated. There was a layer of oil on the tea.

Cen Li silently put down his teacup and looked downstairs. There were not many guests, but they were not few either. Perhaps it was because this was the only restaurant in the entire town.

The manager did not expect Cen Li to say this. He was stunned for a moment and glanced at the woman downstairs.

Although the woman was dressed in ordinary cotton clothes, her manners and movements were definitely not something that could be raised by an ordinary family.

"Immortal is magnanimous, so this little one will go down first." The shopkeeper smiled and left.

Just as Chen Muxue was about to lose her patience, she finally saw the waiter coming out with a man with a big belly. She immediately knew that this was the manager.

"May I know why the young lady is looking for me?" The shopkeeper cupped his hands.

Chen Muxue went straight to the point. "Manager, this is the pickled radish that I made at home. Why don't you try it?"

As she spoke, she opened the lid of the basket. The pickled radish strips were crisscrossed in the bowl like a stack of clear white jade, dotted with ruby-like chili slices. The moment the lid was opened, a sweet and sour smell rushed into their noses.

"Achoo!" The manager was caught off guard and sneezed.

Perhaps she had pounced a little too quickly. Chen Muxue took a glance and chuckled as she scratched her head. "I'm sorry for spilling the ingredients."

Normally, because it was water, the smell wouldn't spread so easily. It was just that the sweet and sour water was spilled everywhere during the fight just now. Once the area was spread out, the speed of evaporation increased.

In fact, usually, when the dishes were served, they would not add sugar and vinegar. However, Chen Muxue was worried that if the radish were left out of water for too long, it would oxidize and look ugly. If it looked ugly, it would not be good if it could not be sold for a good price.

"Miss, what do you mean?" The manager rubbed his nose.

"Oh my, look at my radish. It's so white and shiny. When you smell it, it's sweet and sour." Chen Muxue coughed lightly. "It's definitely delicious. I'll sell you the recipe. How about it?"

When the shopkeeper heard this, his expression changed slightly. "Oh? Then I'll have to taste it."

He picked up a piece of radish and put it in his mouth. With a "kacha" sound, along with the crisp texture, the sweet and sour taste immediately opened his taste buds. After swallowing it in two or three bites, the manager suddenly felt that he wanted a big bite of meat.

"Good, good, good!" the manager said. "Your skills are not bad. This is the first time I've eaten such pickled radish."

The traditional pickle was mostly salty and sour. It had to be paired with the porridge in one mouthful, or else it would be so salty that one's heart would start to panic. However, the pickled radish was sweet, sour, and refreshing. People with a strong taste could directly eat it as a snack.

Chen Muxue had already observed what the customers in the restaurant were eating earlier. She thought to herself, 'There are so many dishes that you haven't tried before.'

Sigh, only the people here were easy to fool. The food was good with heavy oil, but there was not much use of seasoning, let alone being picky about the fire control and cutting skills.

"Miss, since you're here to sell the recipe, I'll give you a fair price." The manager saw a person from the corner of his eye, and his eyes flashed. "Five hundred wen. What do you think?"

"Five hundred wen? You're here to pick a fight, right?" Chen Muxue frowned.

"Hey, you can't say that. Look, where are the other restaurants? It's not easy to open this kind of establishment. Are you selling it or not?"

Without waiting for Chen Muxue to speak, a burly, greasy man walked up to her. "Hey, young lady, are you selling recipes?"

The burly man used his dark and oily hand to pick up a piece of the pickled radish and took a bite. "Bah! What's this sour stuff? Five hundred wen is already expensive!"
