Pete came down from his room and saw two guards standing at the door of the inn,
Pete asked the two guards,
"Hello what can I do for you.? "
One of the guards said,
"We are here to take you for your identification"
Pete nodded and said,
"Ok let's go"
The guard then said,
"Follow us"
Pete nodded and started following them,
When Pete got out from the inn, he was surprised to see old style buildings and clothing worn by people,
There were no cars but horses and wagons,
Pete said with an astonished expression,
"Wow this is great... I never thought I will someday have an adventure in a medieval world"
One of the guards said,
"What are you talking about.? "
Pete was going to tell them but stopped when he remembered that Morsh told him to keep this secret, he instead said with a weird tone and expression,
"Oh, nothing particular... I was just enjoying the view"
The guards looked at him with suspicious eyes but didn't say anything and just simply led him,
After couple of minutes, they reached a building and the guard said,
"This is the guard's headquarters, and your identity will be checked here"
Pete simply said,
"Ok"
Then guards led him to inside a room with a crystal ball in the center and guards standing all around it,
One of the guards said,
"Place your hand on the crystal "
Pete nodded and placed his right hand upon the crystal ball,
The crystal ball shone with golden light and then green light and remained green,
Pete smiled and thought,
'This must be the time when they found out that I am a hero'
A guy with a robe entered and the guards bowed,
The guy with robe looked at Pete and said,
"Who is this kid and why did you bring him here"
The guard bowed and answered,
"Sir, he came around 3 AM in the morning and doesn't have any identification with him"
"So, we bought him here to check his identity, we also have suspicion that he is affiliated with bandits"
The guy with robe nodded, then looked toward Pete and said,
"Don't remove your hand from the crystal and answer my questions... If you lie, the crystal will turn red "
Pete nodded and nervously said,
"OK I will not lie"
The guy with robe asked,
"What is your name.? "
Pete answered,
"My name is Pete, What's your name.? "
The guy with robe said in a strict manner,
"I ask questions here and you just answer them and that's it "
Pete nodded and said,
"Yes sir "
The guy then asked,
"Do you have any connections with bandits.? "
Pete said,
"No, I don't have any connections with those bandits "
The crystal ball didn't change colour,
The guy then asked,
"Where did you come from.? "
Pete started panicking but calmed down when he heard Morsh's voice,
"Tell him you came from very far place called earth "
Pete nodded and said to the guy with robe,
"I came from a very far place called earth"
The crystal didn't change colour and the guy said,
"I have never heard of this place called earth, which kingdom does it belong to "
Morsh said,
"Say that it doesn't belong to any of the kingdoms, it's very far away from the kingdoms you know "
Pete repeated Morsh's words
The crystal didn't change its colour this time either, the guy with robe thought,
'It must be a small faraway island in sea'
Then he asked,
"So, what are you doing here.? "
Pete was waiting for Morsh to answer but Morsh didn't say anything, so Pete said,
"I am here for an adventure "
The guy looked at Pete and said,
"You are good to go, but you need some sort of identification if you want to continue to travel "
Pete said,
"Oh, is that so... where can I get the identification then "
The guy with robe said,
"You are not from this country so we can't make your identification, so you can either join adventurer guild or mercenary guild and get your badge and that can act as your identification"
Pete was overjoyed when he heard that there is an adventurer guild and said,
"Woahhh... there is an adventurer guild here.? "
The guy got confused by Pete's behavior and said,
"Yes, there is an adventurer guild here, I will send a guard with you, and he will guide you there"
Pete nodded and said,
"Thank you, sir"
The guy then called out a guard and sent him to guide Pete,
After couple of minutes, they reached the adventurers building opposite of the mercenary building,
The guard said,
"Here's the adventurer's building and mercenary's building, go anywhere you want,
Pete's eyes were on adventurer's building,
Morsh said,
"Pete ask the guard, what's the difference between adventurers and mercenaries "
Pete nodded and asked,
"Umm... Mr. guard could you tell me the difference between mercenaries and adventurers "
The guard said,
"In my opinion, Mercenaries are lawless as anyone can become one and adventurers are mostly nice guys as you can't join them with criminal background"
Pete nodded and said,
"Thank you, Mr. guard "
The guard was flustered when he heard Pete say Mr. guard, but has to leave so he said,
"I have to leave now, see you soon"
Pete said,
"Ok goodbye Mr. guard "
The guard left.
Pete turned to the adventurer's guild and said,
"I will be the best adventurer "
Morsh said,
"Join the mercenary guild, you will have more freedom"
Pete said,
"No, I won't join some criminal organization... I have read many novels where they are bad guys "
Morsh said,
"Those were novels, and this is real life "
Pete said with a determination in his face,
"No, a hero must join the adventurer guild"
Morsh said,
"Who said that..."
Pete said,
"Every novel I read "
Morsh sighed and said,
"Ok go and join the adventurer's guild but I will be joining the mercenary guild at night "
Pete said,
"No, you can't do that, I won't let you join the mercenary guild "
Morsh said,
"And how are you going to stop me"
Pete said,
"Goddess told me a wa.... "
Pete put his hands on his mouth and stopped talking midway,
"I mean... I mean... the goddess will help me "
Morsh said,
"Oh, then I guess I can't do anything "
Morsh thought,
'So that bitch taught him some way that can probably control the body when I took over '
'And this idiot is her way to control me... I will make this guy's life hell if that's the case then '
Pete said,
"Don't worry I will make us the world's top adventurer "
Morsh said in sad tone,
"I thought we could keep an eye on the evil mercenaries by joining them with my name and then destroy their plan before they could do some evil "
Pete thought for a moment,
'I guess the heroes had done this before and got pretty girls in the process'
Pete cleared his throat and said,
"I was just testing you... I was also planning to do this "
Morsh said,
"As expected of the hero "
Morsh smiled and thought,
'He is too simple '
Pete then walked toward the entrance of adventurer's guild,
"My journey as a hero and the greatest adventurer begins now "
Pete entered the adventurer's building,
There were three people eating and drinking on the table and at the reception a young girl was sitting,
Pete walked toward the young girl and said when he reached the young girl,
"Hello, I want to be an adventurer "
The girl looked at him and said,
"It will cost you 5 silver coins as a registration fee "
Pete nodded and took out a gold coin and handed it over to the little girl and said,
"Here is this enough "
Morsh said,
"There are silver coins in the pouch, why did you bring out a gold coin"
Pete doesn't know about anything about the currency of this world, so he said,
"I didn't know about that "
Morsh thought,
'What does he mean by he didn't knew about that... the colour of the gold coin is gold and the silver coin is silver '
The young girl looked toward Pete when she heard Pete talking,
"What you don't know about "
Pete said,
"Sorry I was talking to myself "
The young girl said,
"Oh, now would you please follow me, I will take you to the registration room "
Pete nodded and the girl took Pete through the door at the side of the reception,
The young girl led Pete to room with a magic crystal in center and said,
"Place your hand on the crystal and I will ask you several questions "
It was like at the guard's headquarters and Pete simply repeated same answers from before,
After the test the young girl led Pete to reception and said,
"Your adventurer card will take a few hours to craft, so until then you can wait here or come back later "
Pete said,
"I will wait here "
The young girl said with a cute expression in her face,
"Sir here are your 5 silver coins from the gold coin you gave for registration, would you tip me these for my service "
When Pete saw the cute expression of the young girl, he said,
"Yes, you can have it "
Morsh said,
"Hey what are you doing... those coins can rent a room for four days "
Pete said,
"Don't worry, I will earn this in no time "
Pete then sat down on a bench and the young came to him again and asked,
"Sir would you like to order something to eat while you wait"
Pete said while blushing,
"Bring me the most expensive dish here"
The young girl thought,
'This guy seems loaded with money... '
The young girl then said,
"Sir that will cost you 6 silver coins "
Pete took out another gold coin and handed it over to the young girl and said,
"The rest is your tip "
Morsh said,
"What are you doing spending this much on this girl "
The young girl left with a sly smile on her face,
Pete said,
"I can do anything with my money so don't nag about it "
Morsh smiled and thought,
'This guy doesn't know how the world works '
Morsh then said,
"Ok do whatever you want but leave some for my registration in the mercenary guild "
Pete said while counting the coins in his pouch,
"Ok don't worry we still have 4 gold and 15 silver coins "
Morsh thought,
' They are going to be wasted here or there in some time'
The girl came back after couple of minutes with the meal and Pete ate it and the young girl said,
"Sir would you like to browse our weapon and armor collection"
Pete said,
"Yeah, that will be great as I don't have a weapon and armor yet "
Morsh said,
"Hey, we have a sword of the bandit back in the camp and I am sure that sword is a high grade "
Pete ignored Morsh and the young girl led Pete to another room with weapons and armor,
There were many armors and different type of weapons on display,
Pete's eyes fell upon the shiniest sword and armor, and he said to the young girl,
"How much for that armor and sword"
Morsh said,
"Hey don't buy these... they don't look practical "
The young girl said,
"The armor is 3 gold, and the sword is 2 gold sir"
Pete took out 4 of his gold coins and said,
"I don't have any more gold coins, how many silver coins for a gold coin.? "
The young girl said,
"10 silver for 1 gold sir "
Pete then took out 10 silver coins and handed 4 gold and 10 silver coins to the girl and said,
"I am buying these, here's your payment "
The young girl smiled and said,
"Thank you sir, for purchasing the armor and the sword, I will take your measurements for the armor and customize it for you"
The young girl then took measurement of Pete and left the room with armor,
Pete then went to the reception room and sat down in a chair,
After couple of hours the young girl came back with the adventurer's card and armor,
She said,
"Mr. Pete here is your adventurer's card and armor, the cost of armor customizing is 2 silver coins "
Pete nodded and took out 4 silver coins and handed to the young girl and said,
"The extra is your tip "
The young smiled and said,
"Thank you, sir"
Then she pointed toward the notice board and said,
"You can take quests from the notice board sir "
Pete nodded and headed toward the notice board and realization dawn upon him and he shouted,
"Whaaaaaaat... "
