Chapter 37 - A Whisper of the Past

As the Winter Sun set over Washington D.C the Whisper awoke, dressed in a warm robe and slippers, she made herself get out of bed and begin her finally preparations to leave. She had no family nor any friends in D.C, she was from New Jersey, Trenton be to specific, she had short chopped blonde hair, her white skin glistened in the dimly lit room. She had been a gym rat before the first bombs went off, and her physical physique showed it. The nukes had left their scars on everyone, and nobody no matter how far was safe.

The operatives all met up near the border, and began to cross. The robotic guards scanned them as they passed not suspecting anything. As they crossed they knew time was running out of moon light to get to the rendezvous point. She stopped a moment to check her pocket watch, it was 10:59 pm, and she had to cross another 20 miles to get to the point, she let out a shallow breath and kept walking. The other agents had split up and had a decent start on her, and if she was going to make it out alive, she would need all of her cunning, and wits.

Meanwhile, both the Ghost and Busch Hunter were in route to the pick up point. Taskforce Omega Four was airborne and the ground forces had already been planted around a 50 mile radius outside of D.C. Both Ghost and Busch knew this mission was critical, gaining intel was big but each of the inserted agents had specific jobs to do, now it was their turn to finish the mission.

As the PBY entered Maryland, it disguised its signature from radar scans. The rendezvous point was on a beachhead, they PBY would land in the water and the agents would get in a planted boat to get to the PBY.

"Where is Whisper? She needs to be here!"

"Relax Agent Dawson, she'll be here. besides our ride hasn't arrived yet."

Moments later The Whisper of Washington arrived.

"Took you long enough."

"Relax, I told you I'd be here."

"Right then, to the boat, lets get out of this dump."

The agents boarded the boat and headed out into the ocean. The PBY had just landed and 10 minutes before they had to pull out and head back home. A few minutes passed before the agents arrived at the PBY.

"Welcome to Maryland, sadly Mary doesn't have any sheep at this time." said Agent Ron.

"To bad, Lincoln was looking forward to that." replied The Ghost

As the agents boarded the PBY sirens were heard from the city. They'd been silent since the bombs went off, now they marked the attack of the people. Tanks, and armored vehicles had aided commando squads in taking out anti air battalions and prevent any sort of attack from the ground. The Remnant Government was still asleep under ground unaware of any attacks on the surface.
