Chapter 8 - Christmas in ODTA

The snow brought about welcomed change to ODTA, children ran and played in the snow, they laughed and cheered as the adults made their way to their jobs.

The City Guard had been working double time, even with the clans at peace, Ruined Aurora and Mutant Earlville were going to be an issue. The ODTA Guard lacked the necessary people to mount an extermination force and protect the City.

Meanwhile, the citizens began decorating the town, sure they were warriors, but The Ghost made it clear this was a season of happiness, giving and family, so they listened. The speakers of the D.T.A. played Classic Christmas music, lights were hung and people smiled. The once ghost city had come back to life.

The Spirit spent most of his time in the old Reddick Mansion. There he mapped out the area, constantly checking on the developing situation. Seneca, home of the Doomsday Preppers, had been seen with a lot of movement, seemed like the Preppers had left their bunkers and began to retake their homes. He wanted to make contact, see if some agreement could be reached between them, however, the was the problem of the Followers of the Second Dawn. They were making their move down the hillside of Upper Marseilles, they had become violent as if one of the clans had upset them. As if that threat wasn't bad enough, the Aurora Skattlkin were becoming restless, spilling onto the old I-80 Highway and though it seemed like they had no real skills, the Skattlkin were a big threat to any civilization.

The Ghost sat back in the office chair, there wasn't any good way to make new alliances nearby. With all the threats holding their current patterns, the potential allies didn't stand a chance.

Back outside, Alexander and a few others were keeping the snow at bay, making mounds of it, trying to keep the roads clear. A few guards murmured whispers, rumors of Chicago, now called The Windy Pit. Apparently there were survivors there who had no objections to cruel and unusual torture. Rumors existed of a gladiatorial arena, there, slaves, warriors and legends went to either win their freedom, or die trying.

Chicago had been known for its violence in the past from Al Capone to the many gangs that inhabited Chicago before the bombs, but they'd been quiet since the bombs had fallen. Apparently there were survivors, and not many of them had good intentions. Facing them or even allying with them would certainly end their city.
