Chapter 5 - 5. A Lovers Picnic

He drove for an hour or so and we didn't talk much but strangely enough, the ride wasn't uncomfortable at all. I was comfortable in his company and I didn't even feel disgusted with him. I am feeling a little embarrassed because of what I am about to tell you. Allow me to whisper. Bring your ear loser: I enjoyed the ride. (Ahem)

We then reached Mount Kril, the biggest mountain in. our region that was, luckily enough, located in our city. He parked by the foot of the mountain in a hidden path and we got out of the car.

He then went to the hood of the car and removed two baskets and finally locked the car. I wondered what he was carrying in such big baskets. But I didn't ask for I knew he would open them. eventually. I didn't want to seem very curious.

"You came prepared, didn't you?" I asked because I was amused at how ready Adrian seemed.

"I have to impress you so that from today, you will want to be my friend. Don't you think so?" He asked with a smile as he took a foot path that went up the mountain.

"Will your car be okay here?" I asked because I didn't think it was safe. You know, with all the crime cases in our city and all.

"It will be, don't worry. Nobody comes to these sides at this time of the day." He answered and I looked at my watch and it was a few minutes past five of the evening. "Will you be okay going up the mountain?" He asked as if he wasn't sure I could do it.

"A hike will be good for me since I didn't even do my usual exercise routine this morning. So let's go. Let me help you with one basket." I said as I went to take a basket form him but he moved away.

"I don't want you to get tired. I will do it," he said as he started walking up the mountain. What the...

"If you treat me like a girl one more time, I swear I will beat you senseless to prove to you that I am a man. BRING THAT BASKET HERE!" I finished with a bellow and that made him stop and hand me a basket without question. He looked like a rained on puppy. So, so cute! But I refrained from smiling because I wanted him to realise that I was serious.

"Sorry. That wasn't my intent," he apologized and we started our journey up the mountain. We walked for about one hour and we came to a clearing but apparently, we weren't where he wanted us to be. We took a little rest and then started again.

After hiking for like another thirty minutes, he asked me, "can you see that?" while he pointed at a place but I looked and didn't see anything. All I saw were trees, shrubs, rocks and more trees.

"I don't see anything," I said as I strained my eyes because it was so almost fully dark.

"Close your eyes," he said and I looked at him sceptically.

"Come on! Close them, you know I would t hurt you," he said and at that, I was defeated.

I closed my eyes and I felt him come near me and hold my shoulder. I almost opened my eyes but he placed his palm across them ao that I couldn't. I then felt lightheaded like I was floating on air then after a moment I felt grounded again.

"What's happening?" I asked and Aiden sounded normal as he asked me what I meant.

"I could swear that I felt like I was floating there for a while," I said and he laughed as he let go of me.

"I didn't feel anything. Now, look. So you see it?" He asked pointing on the same direction. and now, I saw our city below us. I swear it wasn't there before bad I feel like we are higher than we were when we stopped. I looked at Aiden and he chuckled as he held my hand and pulled me.

"Let's go. We are almost there. The view looks magnificenct from up there. Come on," he said and although I was confused on how we were at that height, I didn't ask because I felt like I was just imagining things.

I followed him and after a while, he let out a deep breath and set the basket he was carrying down when we came to a big clearing where the grass was greener and very luscious. It didn't have any snow whatsoever but it was colder than the temperature at the foot of the mountain.

"We are here," he said as he took the basket I was carrying and started removing things. In it were blankets and he spread them on the ground neatly. He then took the other basket and out of it came different types of snacks, foods and drinks.

He awed me because I wondered when he prepared all these and he was in school all day (Or did he know I would agree to go out with him and he came prepared? Or was he prepared daily hoping that I would agree? That would be awfully strange!) He invited me to sit and I did as he also sat down beside me.

"You can help yourself to anything you want. They are all yours, sorry ours," he said as he took a fruit and started eating avoiding my gaze.

"Why does this look like a picnic?" I asked because for sure, it looked like a lovers' picnic (Not that I wanted it to be a lovers' picnic. We weren't lovers anyway. Wait... what am I saying? Forget it! - pouts)

"Because it is. It's long, never in fact, since I did something like this for someone and I am happy doing it for you. You are my first," he said and I was touched.

Wait, what? Touched? His first? Aaahhh! What's he trying to do? I can't allow him to break my walls so easily.

I must first find out his motive. But this was nice.
