"Don't worry too much, Sam. The CEO of the company is an Engineer. He'll also send some engineers from other companies to finish this project as soon as possible. So,be good and do everything you can. I bet, you're the architect that they don't want to get lost there." He said. I said goodbye to him and was rushed out of his office. Shit! No leave and I have a big task! Damn. Why is my life like this?
I immediately called James and asked him to have coffee with me at a nearby coffee shop here in the company.
"What? Don't tell me you have a problem again?" James asked with a raised eyebrow.
I was tired of blowing air. "I don't know what to do with my life."
"Why?" He asked in surprise.
"Clint give me the worst project ever!" I exclaimed. I'm so frustrated right now!
"How can you say like that?" he asked frowning.
"Well. I will only build airports and large schools. It looks like a house." I rolled my eyes at what I said. My mannerism.
"Tsk. You should be thankful. That pays a lot. For baby Kai's future. Where is it?" He asked and sipped his coffee afterwards.
"Philippines." I answered, almost whisper.
James automatically spilled the coffee he was drinking. "Gross!" I shouted weakly.
He rubbed his lips and made a peace sign. "W-what did you say? Philippines? Which part?" He asked.
"Cebu." I answered and blow air.
James' eyes almost popped out in shock. "No way."
I blew air again. "I have nothing to do with it. As you said, it is also for Kai's future."
He grabbed my hand resting on the table and squeezed. "How about Kai? I'm sure he'll look for you. Your job is too big now. Your gonna leave and will take a long time there." he sadly said. I know, he's just concerned about my son.
I bit my lower lip. "I'm bringing him with me." I answered weakly.
"Are you sure about that, Sam? That's Cebu! There's your family, your sister and your sister husband. What if Isaiah sees Kai Ashley? Damn, Sam. Are you thinking? Everyone will definitely recognize him as Isaiah's son. They look alike. Even just with your finger Kai got nothing."
I close my eyes tightly. James is right. My son looks like Isaiah. From dark brown eyes, to his pointed nose, perfectly fine chin, small cute lips, and his tan skin. He's really the son of Isaiah.
"I-I won't let them see Kai." I cried in my response.
"You know the destiny, Sam. Destiny has it's own twist." James was serious.
"But I can't afford not to see my son. He's my inspiration."
"Damn this! Okay fine. I'll come with you in the Philippines. I'll come with you. And you're not staying in your condo. You'll be in my condo. Isaiah probably doesn't see your face, does he?" James ask.
I shrugged. "I don't know. But as far as I know, I woke up earlier than him. And we also did not meet formally because I flew here in Japan quickly." I answered.
He blew air. "I'll pack my things later. You're leaving tomorrow, right?"
I nodded. "And James ..." I called him.
"What?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"I'll be attending their wedding."
"It's really amazing, Sam." He said while adding some eye-shadow on me.
"What is the surprise?" I asked
"Because, they were engaged five years ago and now they are getting married? Wow. What is that? A kind of Joke?"
I was stunned by what he said. Well, yes. It's also really amazing. But who knows? No one. No one knows why they took this long.
"Are you sure it's okay for me to leave Kai with you first?" There is a streak of my hesitant question.
After we arrived yesterday, James directed us here. He wants us to live in his condominium. He was also afraid that someone would see Kai.
"It's okay. And one more thing, I'll have to wait until Henry calls." He seemed thrilling to say that I was struggling.
"Stop flirting." I said.
" You said that because you don't have a boyfriend." He answered.
"I don't need boyfriend. I have Kai." I said and smiled. I have my son, my everything.
"Duh! I'm waiting for Kai to grow up so I can get married." He said as he rolled his eyes at me.
"You are not acceptable." I smiled in response.
He just sighed and distanced his self from me. He turned the swivel chair in front of the mirror. "There. Burn the bride."
I was just shaken. "Crazy."
I felt him leave. After seconds, he came back with a box containing the gown I was going to wear.
"Here. Wear it so I can work with your hair. Move now!"
I raised an eyebrow when I took the gown from the box. "I'm not the bride, am I?"
"Tsk. You're better than your sister."
I chuckled on what he said. "Lunatic. I love my sister, James. Why don't you try to get to know her?"
He blinked. "Duh! I don't like her."
I just smiled and went to the bathroom. Kai is inside his room. Playing riddles and sudoku I guess?
I called my sister Resha yesterday to inform her that I had arrived. She immediately demanded to see me. Then, when we met, she told me that I was her maid of honor. She also brought the gown yesterday. She even asked where's my son. And I lied. I told her that I left Rex in Japan because I was only here for a while. He did not know that I had a job here in Cebu.
She also asked me to stay on the mansion. And I refused. Of course. I want to be with my child. And in addition, she is the only one who knows that I have a child.
"Hurry up, Girl. The wedding is about to begin. You are not the bride to wait."
The wind blew me away and closed my eyes tightly. I have to do this. For my sister's sake. I just have to act that I don't know him.
I looked up and carefully put on the gown. The gown hugged my curves. The color of it is white, of course. There are tiny diamonds on the neckline of the gown. My back is expose a little, and also my cleavage. The gown is indeed simple yet elegant.
I became a maid of honor without even practicing march.
I immediately went out of the bathroom. I found James arranging his hairdressing equipment.
"Hurry up!" He shouted.
I'm looking outside the window. The church where their wedding will be held is large. No wonder they have been preparing for this for years.
"Time for you to go out, girl. I'll just remind you again that you are not the bride." James said next to me.
"Will he recognize me?" Out of the blue, I asked him.
"You really are a fool, you know that? You said you woke up before him. You're both drunk that night. And you are the only one who remembers his face." He helds my trembling hand.
"You can do it. You came here for your sister. We'll be here for a while. Even if you don't come to the reception." I heaved a deep breath and compose a smile.
"Thank you for the cheer up, James. Take care of my Kai while I'm here." I emotionally said.
"Duh ..." He rolled his eyes.
"What's the use of the nanny you paid for?" He look at his wrist watch.
"Go on. Get out." I nodded and scolded him before getting out of the car. As I started to take a step, I heard his voice.
"Call me when the wedding is done." He said. I look at him over my shoulders and smile. I started walking towards the church door again.
