Chapter 17 - Feeling a sense of unease

Isabel arrived at William's mansion feeling exhausted from her long day at school. She quickly took a refreshing bath, slipped into a comfortable T-shirt and shorts, and wore sunglasses to avoid being recognized by anyone who might have seen her at school.

As she made her way to William's office, she felt a sense of unease. She didn't know how his colleagues would react to her presence, and she was worried that she might not be good enough for him.

When she got to William's office, his secretary was surprised to see her. She looked Isabel up and down, taking in her casual outfit, and laughed condescendingly.

"Oh, you must be William's little girlfriend. How cute. You look so...ordinary," she sneered.

Isabel felt a pang of embarrassment and anger, but she kept her cool.

"I'm just here to drop off dinner for William. He's not home yet," she said calmly, trying to ignore the secretary's snide remarks.

The other employees in the office also looked at Isabel with a mix of curiosity and disdain. Some of them whispered amongst themselves, and Isabel could hear them making snarky comments about her appearance and background.

Feeling uncomfortable, Isabel quickly left the office and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for William. She heated up some leftovers from the previous night's dinner, packed them in a lunchbox, and left a note for him.

As she was leaving to sleep she overheard some of the staff gossiping about her.

They were saying that she was just using William for his money and that she was probably a gold digger or even a high-class escort.

Isabel felt hurt and frustrated. She knew that her relationship with William wasn't based on material things, and she didn't appreciate being judged by people who didn't even know her.

She hoped that William would come home soon so she could talk to him about her day and the unpleasant encounter she had at his office.
