Isabel had fallen asleep in William's room, exhausted from her long day at school and the unpleasant encounter at his office.
When she woke up in the middle of the night, she realized that she had forgotten to call William to check on him.
She grabbed her phone and dialed his number, but the call didn't go through.
She tried again, but the call still wouldn't connect.
Worried that something might have happened to William, Isabel decided to text him instead. "Hey, are you okay? I tried calling you, but the call didn't go through," she typed out.
Minutes passed, but there was no response from William.
Isabel felt her anxiety mounting, and she started to imagine all sorts of worst-case scenarios. What if he had been in an accident? What if he was in danger?
She decided to get out of bed and go to William's office to check on him.
As she walked through the dark mansion, she tried calling him again, but there was still no answer.
She finally arrived at his office and saw that the lights were still on. She knocked on the door, but there was no response.
Feeling a sense of panic, Isabel tried the door handle and was relieved to find that it was unlocked. She opened the door and saw that the office was empty, except for a few papers and documents scattered on the desk.
She searched for any clues that might indicate where William had gone, but she found nothing.
Feeling defeated and worried, Isabel decided to go back to William's room and wait for him there. She lay in bed, staring at her phone, hoping for a response from him. Finally, after what felt like hours, she fell back asleep, exhausted and anxious.
