Chapter 0 - World Break

7–7–2077 – Mongolian mountain range

The first ever recorded gate on earth. A pair of american had hikers stumbled across it.

"Micheal! Come take a look at this!" A flushed woman stared at...

A crack in the sky? Or was it a crack in reality?

"What the hell is that?" Her husband felt ominous as he stared at it.

"I don't know but have you ever seen anything like it?! This could be a major discovery. C'mon, C'mon! Let's get some pictures." The woman became excited and pulled her husband towards the gate.

Her husband still felt unsettled but decided to ignore it and followed her. They posed in front of it to take some selfies. The shutter of a phone camera could be heard.

"Let's get out of here." Micheal tried to persuade his wife.

"Why are you so spooked? We don't even know what it is." The woman teased her husband.

"EXACTLY! Lucy, please! I'm getting a bad feeling. We got a picture so let's j-"

Lucy ignored her husband's pleas. He had always been a bit of a wuss. He always complained about everything.

She would probably have to put up with it until she was dead.

Micheal was cut short, half of him gone, blood everywhere, bit in half right in front of his wife. His blood drowned her and she screamed. She followed her husband into the beast's mouth a moment later, her screams snuffed out like a candle flame.

Smoke drifted up from the beast's nostrils as it spread its wings and roared. The grass around it wilted from heat. It was a dragon, a supreme species.

The dragons nested in the Mongolian mountain range for years, undiscovered.

The powerful beasts grew in number. In search of more nesting area and sustenance, they expanded down into China, where the most nutrition could be found.

China's powerful military rose to swift defensive efforts but their weaponry proved useless against the impenetrable scales of the dragons.

Missiles were hopeless and ground troops were annihilated by the dragons' powerful flame breath.

And fighter jets, the pinnacle of modern military? There's a reason dragons are now called the rulers of the sky.

Beijing fell, Tangzhuan next. Very soon the entire country had been reduced to ash. Japan and United Korea were overrun by Kraken and Water elementals, which had emerged from undiscovered sea gates.

The entirety of the Asian continent was conquered by beasts within a month. Europe wasn't spared from the annihilating wave of gate outbreaks. Lycanthropes, Vampires and Chimeara turned the continent into a world of night where humans were nothing more than cattle.

Half of Africa became a wasteland filled with monstrous reptiles and insects the size of buildings. The other half became an inhospitable world of molten rock and scorching heat, the playground of fire elementals.

South America became a true Jungle, with cognizant plant life that grew and consumed everything rapidly. The more feline species of monsters thrived in this environment with their agility and camouflaging abilities, picking off the last remnants of human life.

And North America had it the worst. Demons and Death beasts. They drove humans mad and reanimated their dead bodies. The sheer amount of bodies had managed to fizzle out the last dredges of resistance.

Nuclear weaponry had never been fired and the remnants of the human race were forced to flee earth. But space wasn't an option. The only hope they had, the only place they were able to escape to, was into the gates where the beasts had come from.
