Two years later.
"Ayna, good morning. You ready?"
"Yes. Let's go."
At 4 in the morning, Ayna and I went to the forest using a similar path to the first day that we went to the forest to train my light magic. By now, I had mastered all the parts of my light or other elements I could with the limited information I had on magic and my rare element. Keep in mind that I had no access to any library or teaching institute. All that I did was derived from small details that the god lady gave or from Ayna's father. He was the one who taught Ayna the most about rare elements and how magic works in this world.
About the elements, the basic knowledge that almost everyone knows is that everyone on Duniya Continent has access to at least 4 elements. The classic elements such as Water, Earth, Fire and Air. Everyone has access to magic based on these elements.
But there is a niche few who has more than that. They possess not only the four elements but also another different element. The element can be anything. From wood to darkness to practically anything.
These elements are simply called rare elements.
Ayna and I are both possessors of rare elements. Mine is Light. Whereas hers is Psionic.
Both of our elements have almost limitless potential.
Light is a very underrated element only stopped by the imagination and understanding of the user.
I mean the number of concepts related to light is practically endless. Almost every fantasy novel adds a new concept to the element.
Some examples: Solid light, Healing, Soul, Heat, illusion, purification and endless more.
For psionic? Similarly, Telekinesis, mind, soul, clairvoyance and many more variations of this concept.
This is the reason it's called psionic and not just mind magic. So many things are possible using just this.
Her element is ultimate level rare. She is almost the only person to have full version of this element. Comparatively, just mind or just telekinesis magic is not that rare.
Compared to her, my element is extremely common. Many other people have it. But they are almost always blinded in their search for its many capabilities. Most just use its healing properties and ignore the rest. Why? Simple, they don't know shit about light and its properties. Hence, they can only utilize very little of its infinite capabilities.
Anyway, that's all that I know about this for now. Not many places to learn from sadly. Right now, Ayna and I are going for something other than simply killing poor weak wolves. We went to gather some special herbs that I need for my research.
Not really.
I just want to help Ayna practice making potions. Her father is finally teaching her about potion making. For me, it was pretty easy. I was in the room "playing" while she was being taught.
And no, I couldn't practice as well. After all, I am just about three years old. That is not an age for potion concoction. But I won't need to at the moment. The things she is learning are the basics of the basics. There isn't even any mana involved. Yet.
Anyway, we are in the usual formation. I am strapped to her back. I check out the surroundings and search for the herbs using my x-ray and echolocation magic. Whereas she uses her surface thought reading to find if we are being targeted by any creatures that evaded my eyes. It is actually very common around here. Every creature here needs to have very active instincts or very unique abilities to survive the plethora of predators that live and hunt here.
Sadly, we do not have such instincts yet. So, we make do with the unique ability part.
"Ayna, why don't you use your psionic element magic to learn faster?"
"I can do that? How?"
"I thought having photographic memory is a part of having a memory-based element. Also, your father didn't teach you?"
"No, he didn't. He taught me only the basic things of my element."
"Your element is very rare after all. He probably doesn't know much about it. Can you get me inside his library? I need to know more about spell model designs if I have to design a spell for learning quickly using your element."
"Will that really work? Aren't spell models really hard to make?"
"It is if you don't have proper tools."
Doing extremely advanced vector and calculus may be almost impossible for humans.
But for a supercomputer? Hmph! That is as smooth as a non-spicy diarrhea.
That is exactly how I have been doing magic. I learned the basic rune structure such as: mana to element converter, mana concentrator and many more rune clusters. It's almost like a circuit where you have to make the right things go in the right place. So, calculation is paramount here. And having a supercomputer do it for you has made all the fantasy element of learning new spells or naming spells or stuff truly redundant. I don't even name them anymore. I sometimes even make them on the spot.
It is actually the easiest part right now. I simply give specific parameters of the spell to [Alice] and she makes it in a few seconds at most.
Learning about Legendary spells from ancient ruins?
Hmph! I can make a better and efficient one in my sleep.
So, spells are the last thing I need right now. But I still need to more about different methods of making spell-models. So far, I have only been making the basic structure in my spell-models. If I get more knowledge, I'll be able to make more and more complex spells that can do seemingly impossible things.
So, I need to get to a library.
Suddenly I noticed something.
"Ayna, keep quiet. And follow me. Also, cast the telepathy spell on us." I whispered to Ayna.
'What's going on Rick?'
'I saw something. It's huge. Gimme a sec. I need to cast some spells so that it won't notice us.'
I cast some spells that includes smell container spell and some mana-based tricks that stopped or mana signature from being differentiated from our surroundings.
We started to move toward what I saw after that.
And we came into a clearing after that.
'Almighty Malaya, Rick! What's that?'
And we saw something that we will remember for a very long time.
A hulking monstrosity 10 meters (32.8 feet) tall and three meters wide. Covered in dark prickly fur and filled with scars.
It was a Destro-wolf.
'Wow, these are really rare and extremely strong. Why is it so close to a human settlement?'
And that's when I noticed that it is heavily injured. It came here to heal. Smart choice. Very few strong beasts come close to human settlements. So, it is technically safe here. Emphasis on 'technically'.
'Rick, whatever you are thinking, stop right there.'
'I get it Ayna, but this is like the chance of a lifetime. If I could get some materials, I could theoretically make some really potent potions.'
As if sensing my greed, that's when it opened its eyes and slowly moved them to our location.
…
…
"Shit…"
'Ayna, just slowly turn around and start moving slowly.'
We started to back up and start going away from there. Its eyes were on us the entire time.
Thankfully, it didn't do anything more. Probably saw us as pests that it can get rid of in the future.
This isn't like wish-fulfillment novels where impossible opportunities fall on top of the mc whenever the author comes up with new stuff.
We safely reached home that day.
Damn, I almost shat myself.
I better be able to get in that library today. Or I'm going to throw a fit.
Damn it, that was so scary for no reason.
Also, that was a good lesson. I could've been easily killed over there if it was in a better condition.
I'll need to find a way to protect myself or be able to run away to safety in the future. Just concentrated laser-beams won't work on everything.
Hmm, time to plan some stuff. And get my hands on the knowledge of that FU*KING LIBRARY!
