Louis's POV.
I jolted from sleep when I heard someone screaming and it was coming from Kylie's room. I ran as fast as my feet to carry me to her room and found her tossing and turning in her bed. Since the time the strange guy, she had a past with had broken into my home, last week, she began to have nightmares and whenever I tried to bring up the topic she would dismiss it.
" Kylie. Kylie wake up." I said shaking her but she didn't open her eyes instead she pushed me away fiercely. " Kylie, it's me, Louis," I said as I grabbed her hands and pulled her up into a hug while whispering calming words to her. It took some minutes before she relaxed in my arms.
" Don't leave me, David." She sobbed in her sleep while she held me tightly. When I saw that she had relaxed and was at peace, I placed her gently on the bed but when I was about to leave, I felt my shorts being tugged at. Looking back, to see what it was, I saw her hands firmly holding the tip of my shorts. I tried releasing myself from her grasp in a way that she wouldn't wake.
" Don't go, David." She muttered from her sleep, as I tried to release her from her grasp in a way that she wouldn't wake but wasn't possible as she held on more tightly.
After thinking it through, I finally lay down beside her. In her sleep I saw how vulnerable she was, she was someone who had been through a lot and won't want to go through the same phase again that she has to put up a strong demeanor but was fragile inside.
Kylie POV.
I woke up to the ray of the sun, blinding my eyes through my open window and to my comfy bed with a muscular arm wrapped around my waist and I smiled. But wait, a muscular arm wrapped around my...
Scared but carefully, I turned to the other side and I saw Louis, lying shirtless in my bed. He looked calm in his sleep like how he does when he's awake. I remembered something as a began to scan his face and I saw it, a little scar that wasn't too visible was under his eyebrows, like had always been.
' But, what is he doing in here?' I thought and I noticed he was about to wake up. Immediately, I closed my eyes and I heard him sigh but he didn't move.
Time passed and I wanted to know badly if he was awake or not. When I felt no movement, I began counting down from thirty.
'3, 2, 1." I counted before I opened my eyes to see him staring at me.
I couldn't take my gaze from him and it felt like there was a magnet was in-between us because I couldn't find it in me to break away.
' Get a grip on yourself!' my subconscious screamed at me and I coughed. Louis stood up and reached for the bottle of water as I continued to cough.
" Thanks." I coughed as I took it from him and emptied the whole content." What are you doing here?" I asked when I had calmed down.
" Well, last night, you had another bout so I came in here to soothe you. I guess I had also fallen asleep whilst trying to comfort you." He said and I became downcast.
" I'm sorry if I disturbed you," I said as I hung my head.
" You needn't be sorry." He said raising from the bed." I'll leave you alone to freshen up." And with that, he left the room.
There was no work today as it was the weekend. For the few months that I've been in Bluerose, I had no one to call my friend so I decided to stay in my room throughout, watching movies while stuffing my face with the love of my life, food.
I had gone downstairs to the kitchen to grab snacks and when I looked outside, I saw Louis by the pool.
He seemed relaxed as he sat down under a shade, looking at the pool. This morning when he had been in the room, with me, I thought about how he was going to react when he found out the truth. Was he going to get mad or happy? Would he remember or not? These questions kept running through my head.
The beeping of the microwave brought me back from my trance and I brought out the popcorn before making my way to my room.
It was already pouring and dark outside when I finished the movie. Going to the kitchen to refill my bottle, I kept cleaning my face with the tissues, when I met Louis in the kitchen making dinner for us which looked cute.
Two days before, I tried to slit my wrists so I could convince myself that Ryan was in the past and he can't do anything to hurt me again but Louis came into the kitchen and stopped me and since then kept all the sharp objects safely thereby also banning me from cooking.
" Why are you crying?" He asked when he saw me.
" Yes," I said casually.
" Why?"
" I was watching a movie and it had emotional scenes in it," I said as I refilled my bottle
" Oh.." he said as he continued making dinner.
" What are you cooking?" I asked curiously.
" I'm making tteokbokki."
" To what?" I asked confused.
" Tteokbokki. Famous food in Korea."
" Hope you are not making it up?" I smiled as he poured a weird-looking chili paste into the pot.
" No. It's red rice cakes."
" Can I stay and watch?"
" Sure, you can but sit at the kitchen table."
" Okay." I sat and watched him cook like he a pro in cooking.
A few minutes later the food was ready and was served by also Louis who insisted on doing it.
" Thanks," I said as he took a seat across me at the table.
" You may eat first and tell me if you like it." He said and I picked a spoon." No, don't use a spoon instead use chopsticks." He said as he handed me the chopsticks.
" Okay," I said collecting it before eating it. " O.M.G it's so spicy."
" Don't you eat spicy foods?" He asked confused
" Yes, I do and I've missed eating one. Thanks so much." I said as I eat another.
When I had finished eating my mouth was still burning from the rice cakes.
" Take." He said handing me a glass of milk.
Gulping it while content, I felt relieved." Thanks for the meal."
" No problem," he said as he packed the plates.
" Can I at least wash the dishes since you cooked?" I suggested as I moved closer to the sink.
" Yeah, you can but I'll also join you." Washing the plates with him was so much fun as he kept speaking about how Kim had reacted when he first made tteokbokki.
" She's still young for something that spicy, so the reaction is expected."
" At her age, I was already eating spicy foods."
" But it wasn't this spicy," I noted.
" That's true. I remember I had a friend like that she always preferred spicy foods and she had been the one who dragged me into eating spicy foods from the beginning. The day is still fresh in my mind, she had dared me to eat a spicy dish to prove that I cared for her." He said handing a plate over to me.
" You had liked her with the way you speak."
" I didn't like her." He said and my heart shattered into pieces." I loved her." He said suddenly and the plate I held fell and broke into pieces like how my heart had done but this wasn't a disappointment, it was the fluttering of my heart as I heard those words." Careful, Kylie." He pulled me away from the sink and back to the kitchen table. He was about to get back so he could pack the broken pieces when I grabbed his hand.
" Why did you leave her when you loved her?"
" I never told anyone but I grew up in an orphanage and we were bound to leave one day." He simply said before bending to pick up the pieces.
" Who first left?"
" I did." He said as he threw a large piece into the bin.
" And did you ever bother going back to ask of her?"
" Em..yes I went to the home but they had told me that she had an accident and was released s month after and all my efforts to find her proved abortive." He sighed as he swept the floor.
" What if you saw her would you know her?"
" I don't know since she was just nine then and she would have changed so I'm not sure I'll recognize her even if I saw her."
" So if I tell you that I'm here. What would be your reaction?"
" I'll be really surprised and happy to meet her again."
