Chapter 1 - LEADING A NEW LIFE

Diana p.o.v.

It was not really hard as many made it out to be.

From all the movies and dramas I had watched, crying over the fact they got kicked out of their home or forcefully making a decision of running away, they would cry ugly tears, contemplating whether to return to not cause any trouble to the parents.

Here I am, resting my legs on a stool while laying down on a single chair, with yet another novel in my hand to spend my extra time on, tipping my toe at the beat from the hotel radio.

Long story short, I just left my home. Not a single tear shed, not even a single-

The radio was turned off in the background, and I put down the book to look at the unimpressed Ian, my caretaker now, walking towards me. I pulled my legs to a sit cross.

"You cannot afford to just laze around and read those novels !" He started to nag, and I rolled my eyes when he snatched the novel from my hand.

"Well what else should I do ?" He turned around and gave me a look as if I said the dumbest thing a person could have said.

"Study, of course." I let out a scoffed with a smile.

"I might have learned the whole thing the school has to offer." I stood up from my seat, the bathrobe hung loosely over my black t-shirt and shorts. I walked over the balcony, looking over the extravagant building stood vastly and stood out from the rest.

"You know why I enrolled that school. It wasn't just to study." He shook his head.

"Your way of learning are different from them." I turned my body a bit to face him who stood next to me.

"I want you to learn the way they learned. The history, literature, political science, or else everyone will outcast you as soon as you joined making you a freak."

This time, I genuinely found it funny.

"It's college, not pre-school ! Nobody give a flying fuck about anybody !"

"Watch your language !" Ian scolded me. I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway, you don't understand. You learned the way the human learned. You are joining a Werewolves academy where not only the most excel individual enrolled, but, and especially, the riches, nobles, and Alpha lines that took pride on their status." I leaned onto the door, the background made a gentle sound of car engines and horns from below while all I could see was the worried look of Ian.

"Listen." He moved a step closer, and I knew it was time for me to get serious.

"You are now, Diana Danielle." I clenched subtly on my arms at the name.

"You are now a child from a small noble from a remote town that got lucky enough during the final selection of where a literal child rejected to join the school for a flopped college student to join."

"You're the one who make me a loser."

"It's the only way to enroll without anyone questioning your background and as per your wish; to live a normal life."

I thumped my feet onto the floor softly, pondering over that normal life he mentioned.

I always wondered how is the normal life, because what I had been through was far from normal.

I mean, while everyone else has parents, at least a parent, they would feel loved. Compared to mine, who was there and capable of provide love; gave nothing but agony. I was dread to leave the place and he finally let me go after my 18th birthday.

Such a hard guy for such a sorry excuse of a dad.

Though thanks to his incapable of loving, I was able to leave without problem !

"So, you all talk about me studying their way of teachings, but do you have their book ?" I gave him a playful look, thinking after all that journey he could not have time to visit anywhere to find me those books.

But his smile afterwards made me groaned.

"You never cease to surprise me." I said sarcastically.

-

While the other community college allowed you to wear cute outfits, or at least a casual one, this school has uniform, even for college students ?

"Exactly why we choose to enroll in this school again ?"

I asked Ian while 'rocking' this black jacket that absorbed tenfold of heats from the sun with the blue uniform underneath, pairing with a short frikkin skirt for female students, and a darned pair of high socks like- aren't we werewolves who will shift and left naked after ripping all these uncomfortable uniform ?

"What kind of uncomfortable shit-"

"You're so spoiled. People adore this uniform you know." I pulled on the jacket.

"Who adore this, who ?! Take it !"

"Shh ! We're close."

I looked out from the cab, looking at the students that walked side by side with their two first unbuttoned on their shirts and they did not even wear the useless jacket at all. I quickly took off the jacket and undo the first two buttons.

"One is enough ! Don't follow that girl." Ian said, swiftly buttoning one.

"You don't have the short ones ?" I asked him while eyeing the girls wearing short stockings.

"That's completely breaking the rules. You look cute already, just go !"

I was pushed out of the cab, and then I was left standing so awkwardly with my loose beg, a jacket in hand and the students' eyes walking pass me. I looked behind to the cab and Ian gave me a final wave before he told the cab to leave immediately.

Not that I think twice to grab that cab door once I saw my chance earlier. I was thinking of walking in anyway.

So far so good. Like I said, nobody gives a shit about you.

I composed myself, and started walking towards the school. I fixed the bag to my shoulders and held the jacket properly on my arm. From children running around in the school ground, to the one as old as Ian talking and laughing with their friends. They looked like they mind their own business kind of people, I felt less worried.

I asked around about the main office and one sweet girl even offered to show me. She had such a soft looking brown hair and an even lighter eyes. She smiled and explained how many got lost in the school, even the college students. I just nodded, not knowing what to say.

She was the one who made all the talking, that enable me to answer one exact answer and that was it. I just realized all the time I thought I could go off at anybody, and it was only Ian.

It always had been him and only him anyway.

"I've never seen someone with darkest black hair and striking blue eyes together in my life." I awkwardly moved my hair on the shoulder.

"Well, I've also never seen such fluffy looking person in my life." I told her, and she just smiled at my compliment.

"It's common to have brown hair." She said, playing with the tip of her hair. I did not say anything further since I did not know what she meant by that. I said she looked fluffy, I didn't say she has nice brown hair.

She then suddenly laughs.

"We'll know each other better, and I'm sure by then you won't act this awkward, right ?" She said, and my face felt hot when she said that.

"I mean, you're not awkward ! It just your first time !" She exclaimed immediately, and I just nodded. She bit her lower lips and took out her phone.

"C-Can we exchange numbers. Maybe we can talk more when we have time." This time, I saw her face started to flush. I smiled and whipped out my phone as well. We exchanged our numbers and only then she told me we just arrived at the office. I thanked her and promised to get some drinks together sometimes.

We also exchanged names. Her name was Amelia Foresky. I recognized that name as one of the high noble that well-known throughout the city. I kept smiling thinking about her.

"Diana Danielle ?" I raised my hand slowly as my name being called and the clerk ushered me to come to her table. Receiving me with a smile, she placed the timetable in front of me.

"Since you joined a bit later than other students, the only slots left for you are in the mornings." I scanned over the timetable, and I nodded. Her eyes widened at my obedience, before she chuckled.

"Most student would complain. Well, mostly." She said with a smile. I smiled and thanked her before I left.

Another hour, another me losing my- sense of direction.

I tried to follow the signboards in the Education building and I ended up at the bottom again to retrace my steps. It seemed I caught someone attention with my stupidity when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Do you need help ?"

No way, no way, no frikkin way.

The rush in my veins would not lie to me that this man, standing with a straight look at me, is my mate ?!

He was taller than me, bearing an innocent, messy brown hair and a pair of blue eyes, a bit darker shade than what I own. He was wearing a casual hoodie over his uniform; from the blue collar I can distinguish, and was wearing a perfectly resized bag behind him. From the looks of it, he was listening to music as he took them off once he talked to me.

"Let me see." He said, and I mindlessly let him take a look at my schedule, and he gave it back to me.

"This way." He said, and I just followed him to the lift. We entered the empty lift and I saw him clicked onto the eighth floor.

The door closed shut. And we stood next to each other.

It was two levels into the lifts when he finally spoke.

"So, we're mates."

I clenched onto my jacket where he said it so plainly. My body was attracted to him like magnet, but he acts like he did not feel as thirsty as I do ?

"Don't get me wrong." As if reading my mind, he turned to look at me.

"My whole life, I thought I'm gonna die a virgin." I blinked at his words.

"I mean, I can't die a virgin, but.. I won't die a virgin." He tried to cover his smile with his hand, and I tried to make sense of his words while tried not to pass it on as a creep.

"Everyone had been making fun of me. I knew all the wait will pay off." I nodded at his words.

"Yeah... make sense ?" I said sarcastically while I tried my best to signal him to explain what was he babbling about.

He then saw us reaching floor eighth.

"We'll talk after this class. It's Science. Mrs. Wilson wouldn't like it if we late." He said with a smile before he took my hand. His warm hand making a contact on my own sends firework into my stomach, how was he not reacting the same way ?

He acted sneaky when we entered the back door of the classroom and we ended up at the very back, also at the very high of the hall.

"Mr. Sinclair." I almost spit my saliva next to him.

A Sinclair ?! The most prominent Werewolf family, a bloodline of warriors, the Sinclair that also part of the Royal warriors ?!

"You're late again, and it's already our fifth meeting." The lecturer said, her voice echoed through the huge class where all students turned to look at him; also at me.

"Do you also do this in other classes ?" She added.

"Nope. Only your class, miss." He said with a smile, and she quickly silenced by the 'miss' he called. She grumbled silently, but I could see she was pardoning his tardiness.

"And who is that next to you ?"

I twitched when it was me everyone focused on now. I slowly stood up, and the Sinclair next to me gave me an encouraging smile.

"I-I'm your new student, miss. My name is Diana Danielle." Whispers began to erupt in the class, and I knew it was my last name. They may be interested on how they never heard of it, or how it was so unknown that I could not be classified enough as a noble. With that, they might shift me to be one of the smartest kid lucky enough to enroll here.

"Sit down. My class always start on time. Take a note, Miss Danielle."

I nodded and sat down. That was nerve-wrecking. I never felt this nervous in my life, and it happened in front of many people.

"You did good." I heard a whisper in my ear and I turned to look at the Sinclair, smiling at me.

"I'm Noah. Noah Sinclair." He put out his hand, and I was kinda hesitate to take it. Well, I was still nervous and other than that, he is a Sinclair !

"Don't worry. I'm not that Sinclair, you know." He suddenly said, sounding so sad. Now I felt bad. I knew who would be the next head of Sinclair, and my action might reminded him of that.

I smiled and took his hand.

"Hey, still a Sinclair. Whereas I, an unknown family. Danielle who ? Don't know who that is." I made a joke and he chuckled, did not want to interrupt the class.

I was trying to hide the fact that his hand send tingles all over my body and my heart palpitating like crazy.

I could not believe I cannot stayed compose during introduction and converse with the others. I need to talk to Ian about this.

Oh, and also about my mate.

I found him on the very first day ? Talk about luck.

After Science, we had about 45 minutes before the next class. Noah invited me to hang out for that 45 minutes because we have the same class.

In fact, we have all the same classes because he forgot to apply his classes on the day he supposed to with his friends and ended up on the morning classes. He lied to Mrs. Wilson earlier to save his ass, and it works everytime.

"Shouldn't her be pissed then ? You lied saying you only failing to attend her class on time. She told me to 'Take note, Miss Danielle.'" I told him, imitating her unusual high pitch sound which made him smile.

"See, you just started your school here." He pointed at himself.

"I've been here since the first day. I know Mrs. Wilson and her wanting to be young tendencies."

"So, this is like.. your second home then ?"

We were staying at one of the table situated at the foyer with huge fans on the top. Other students also seem leisuring around while waiting for another class.

"No; this is my home. That mansion is my other home. I would just stay here during the semester break. I only went back home if there are some occasion I need to attend." I nodded, feeling some kind of related since I also ran away from my home. He could not since he has responsibilities.

"That's kinda sad." I said, and he just nodded, pursing his lips. He was fiddling with his fingers when I watched him.

"You know, that's the first time someone genuinely said it like that at my sob story."

I blinked at his words, and his smile just spread wider.

"I thought it was sad." He just shook his head, trying to cover his smile with his hand, again.

"Nothing. It just.. cute." I straightened my body when I felt hot on my face. No one had complimented me that way other than my nanny before. Well, she would snuggle me and said I'm cute multiple times, and that annoys me.

This one was different.

"So, Diana Danielle.. I never heard of that family name before." He said, and I looked around, trying to come up with something.

"And I had to memorize all the family in this Kingdom since that's my duty." I thumped my feet underneath the table, thinking of another excuse.

"You.. must have missed it ! There should be a Danielle out there, or else I'm not going to exist." I told him, wrapping my arms over my chest to assert dominance over the conversation. I peeked over at him and saw him just smiled, raising his hands up as if he had given up.

"Whatever you say, princess." I pursed my lips as a smile tried to get to my lips.

"So.. who's making fun of you for being a

virgin ?" I changed the subject, and it seemed he was also reminded of that. His shoulders calmed.

"You should meet my friends. They usually active in the evening. You won't find them in the morning since their body-clock messed up." I nodded, sensing from that description that his friends would be the socialize and party-goer people.

Exactly group of people Ian told me to stay away.

"Sure. I'll meet them." I smiled, and he replied my smile. We stood up when he told me we have to head to the next class now.

It was political science that Ian told me to study. When I go through it yesterday, he was correct about it being different.

It was not as complicated as what I had been learning. Better yet, it only telling one-sided stories without further implementation of the confidential stuff. He told me it was the way of the Wolves, and it was an ideology they wanted the young Wolves to have.

I did not have anything to say, I kind of understood their take on it, which I did not want to comment any further.

I followed Noah into the hall and noticed the students still relaxed and talked to each other. The lecturer was not here yet. We took a seat next to each other.

Then, the door opened from the outside and a figure appeared, walking straight to the podium where the lecturer usually stays.

I slammed my hands onto the table as I abruptly stood up, my eyes widened seeing the oh-so-familiar looking man standing facing all of the students with a warm smile, as if nothing bizarre happened.

"Hello students. My name is Ian Bennette. I will be your new historical and political science lecturer from now on."

Ian, we really need to talk !
