Chapter 33 - •Thirty-three•

The next day, Philippa ventured out of Jaqueline's chambers with Bardulf fearing the worst but trusting him to keep her safe no matter what. She held onto his arm as they walked down to the formal dining room where she had first seen him when he came for Jaqueline's hand. Now, she was his wife, not the princess. Now, she was a Queen, not a maid.

Just before they entered, he paused and turned to her. His eyes were soft and caring as he asked, "Do you remember what I said yesterday?"

She nodded, giving him a shy smile.

"Good. There is going to be someone in here that is not exactly pleased with your new station, so I want you to ignore him." She asked who. Bardulf leaned down and kissed her. "The prince."

She furrowed her brows, then her mind remembered Prince Roderick. She scowled. "Why is he here?"
