Chapter 42 - •Forty-two•

Bardulf, having been dressed in a cloak of black fur, warm trousers and leather fur lined boots, was nearly thrown onto a platform where the village priest awaited. He turned to his friends, scowling, but they just grinned back at him, unafraid and excited.

Bardulf's scowl disappeared though when Philippa floated into the torch light, wearing a beautiful gown of shimmering white and silver, little pale pearls dotted the dress here and there. On her head, instead of the toy tiara, was one he recognized from the castle vaults. Again, he turned a scowl towards his men, but it was only half-hearted.

Philippa was both awed by how she looked and frustrated because the other females wouldn't tell what was going on or why she was wearing a dress that weighed more than she did.
