The holidays were already over, Beatrice and John had really enjoyed themselves, the had stayed in Patrick's and Pauline's for a few days after Stephanie's birthday party, the stay there was very peaceful and enjoyable.
They first felt akward living there but Patrick , Pauline and Stephanie did everything there could to make them feel comfortable, they were very happy that Patrick and Pauline treated them in the same manner they treated Stephanie, they had never been pampered they way they had been pampered be Patrick and Pauline.
They maternal grandmother was a trouble maker just like their mother ,their grandfather died along time ago before they were born,their mother had a brother who they would describe as being a worst trouble maker than their mother.
Their biological father had his family but due to their mother's trouble making nature they have never gotten along with them, they felt blessed that their mother married to this family, first for all,their stepfather treated them as their own children.
Stephanie also treated them like her younger siblings and Pauline and Patrick treated them as their really grandchildren, they were happy, only If their mother would stop finding fault with Stephanie and Pauline they could be completely happy.
They all had breakfast before going to school , they all attended the same school but ask always their mother couldn't be contented if she doesn't cause trouble.
"Stephanie, don't think that because your are beautiful and are almost done with school you can start causing trouble,do you understand?"Cloe said to Stephanie, Stephanie didn't reply immediately , she still had food in her mouth,she waited until she had swallowed the footage.
"Which kind of trouble can I cause for being beautiful and almost finishing school?"Stephanie asked,"don't you think that I don't know that same school boys are admiring you and you are starting to give them face?"Cloe asked, Stephen didn't know what to do to stop the cold war between his wife and daughter.
"Thank God your know,I thought that you weren't aware of that, it's not my fault that am beautiful,you can only blame my parents genes,"Stephanie answered, Stephen heard her daughter's reply and thought to himself that he won't be able to last for long.
"Mother,we just started living together with Stephanie the other day, how did you know that those boys we're admiring her?"John asked,he was sure that her won't be able to understand his mother in this lifetime.
"I have my ways,"Cloe replied,"you have your ways or you are just jelousy of Stephanie's beauty?"Beatrice asked,Cloe looked at both her children and shook her head in disappointed, they were supposed to hide with her but they were instead were siding with her enemies.
Cloe hasn't even lived with Stephanie and Pauline for long but she has already declared them her enemies,she looked at Stephanie and heaved a long sign, she and her grandmother were the cause of all her troubles.
"Stephanie,what are you doing to do after you are done with school, will you join your father in the family business or will you continue with higher education ?"Cloe asked her, Stephen looked at his daughter,he had also wanted to ask her this question but he hasn't had a good opportunity.
"Whatever I want to do with my life isn't none of your business, trying to get in other people's business is the reason you are still very thin, even a one day toddler has more meat on its body than you do, take your time and concentrate on yourself first, it's for your own good,"Stephanie said to her,John tried to control his laughed.
Stephanie had hit the nail while it was still hot,Cloe felt like hitting someone,"that's also none of your business,"Cloe said,"of course I know that isn't my business,am just worried that one day my friends while laugh at me when they hear that my stepmother was blown away by wind,I couldn't know what to do,"Stephanie said.
"Cloe and Stephanie ,both of you should shut your mouth ,you should let's eat in peace,if you aren't hungry you should go ahead and leave,"Stephen said,he could no longer stand them , two grown ups women behaving like two little girls.
"Father,am willing to shut my mouth but you should talk to your wife ask her not to provake me , otherwise you'll wouldn't like what I will do to her,"Stephanie said to her father,Cloe had this and stood up and then closed her arms on her chest.
"What will you do to me,why don't you try to do it now, let's see what you got Stephanie!"Cloe shouted, Stephen got hold of the plate that he was using an hit the dinning table with it very hard, his food spilled all over the table.
Cloe who was neae him got more food spilled on her,she looked at Stephen when John stood up immediately and placed his finger on her lips,"you are not allowed to say anything,do you understand mother,you have already caused more trouble!"John said, he prayed to the heavens to Grant him a different mother in his life time.
"John, can't you see that Stephanie is the one causing trouble for me?"Cloe and asked him,"Stephanie causing trouble for you mother,I can't believe you , Stephanie is really trying everything she can to put up with you but you are always provoking her,she is a filial stepdaughter to you mother,if I was in her shoes,I would have given you a good beating that will make you stay in your bed for several months,"Beatrice said, she was really disappointed in her mother.
"I will go have my breakfast peaceful in the school canteen ,"Stephanie said ,she picked up her back and left, Beatrice and John also picked up their bags and followed behind Stephanie,Cloe looked at Stephen but he has already had enough of her,he stood up and left.
Cloe was left alone wondering if she wasn't a good mother and wife.
