Three months has passed and Brad has been able to master the technique of making stone tools. And with recent hunts to have been successful, he was able to make glue that made his tool more durable. Now he was able to make proper arrows with feathers, turns out Terror Birds were abundant in the area and were easy prey as they are quite predictable once you corner one of them. And their bones suprisingly were quite unique as it can be grounded into a flour like substance, it can't act like flour but it's a good breading for fried foods.
Hunting multiple would be hard but It's manageable because Brad has made the perfect smoke bomb that'll incapacitate the targets. His reliance on the replica weapons has lessened as he used his bone harpoons and an atlatl, a stick that makes the throw more stronger, it would be a shame should Long Claw snaps if he relies on these things too much. The range and strength of his throw is phenomenal when coupled with his enhance strength, it was like getting hit by a howitzer.
Brad was assure of his safety so he had been focusing on developing his home's living conditions so his first plan was to have a working irrigation and water system inside the cave. He felt it was quite tire some to fetch water everyday just to flush the poop of the Boars. Thankfully Bread was quite an intelligent one as it learned where to take a shit already.
Brad had been making stone pipes which he made by making a rectangular piece of stone slab. Then drill holes in it with the homemade drill, it has been five days since Brad started making the pipes and he was down to a third of the way. He planned to make a spiral water wheel where it would pump the water up. He had already made a Large water reservoir besides his room by digging through the wall.
The broken pieces of rocks were reused and made into gears, Brad knew that this would be made with just the memories he had when he watched TV about americans building water wheels in africa and stuff. He knew this was a large project so he made sure of stocking enough food in the basement for him, Bread and the Hogs which the other one was already pregnant. Brad felt that should he decide to cook pork in the future he would not have Bread know of it.
The project this time might take months for Brad to finish as the must have a working water wheel, air tight pipes, and curved pipes made of wood which he would secure with glue so it would be waterproof, a drainage system that would clean the Boar pens and the rooms where he felt could be pens for any possible animal in the future that could serve as a farm animal.
Brad has fully adapted to this life as he had felt better now that he had a pet that just sleeps all day and wakes up when it's time to eat. Brad did find some fruit trees that looked similar to plums but he didn't eat most of it as he planed to make them into wine. He might not have yeast but he knew it would occur naturally as long as he waits for the fruits to ferment more before putting them in Jars he had made.
Brad also found out that the soil near the stream was high quality clay, it took him about a week to figure out how to bake it enough to be considered pottery. Even if it is crude looking at least it still serves it's purpose, many things Brad watch had proven useful that he found the process of making things quite calming and therapeutic.
[Two months later]
"It works!! Fuck yeah!! I'm a frickin engineer baby!!" Brad danced in joy as he saw the little trickle of water coming out from a stone pipe. Brad was so happy that he opened one of the jars of wine and drank all of it. He then found out how strong the wine made with the fruits he gathered.
It was just a long two months of isolation of trial and error of remaking and designing a working waterwheel. Even whe brad felt he had more stamina his mind still grew weary but the end felt rewarding. Even his search area widen from around 2 kilometers radius from the cave up to 4 kilometers. He had found many plants that he replanted and saw many more beast of different shapes and sizes.
Now Brad rested as he laid down on the floor with Bread who acted as his pillow. Bread had grown form a piglet up to a half a meter tall boar. Brad stayed like this, silent and peaceful times such as these are rare for him.
[The next day]
Brad looked at the weirdly shaped stone on his hands, this was the prototype Suns-dial he had made. It has shown his that most days were about 14 hours long and the night time would last only 11 hours, that's 25 hours a day. And now Brad is marking a point in the stone sayinf 'Fall'.
Because outside has started to change already, the leaves are turning brown and herbs are dying out, it seems spring here last about six months if he counts the day he arrived here as the start of it. He has no knnowledge if strology and how to map it but he did try to look for partterns in the night sky before and compared their position by leaving a stick by the small crack in the wall to see the difference.
But what's important is that if there is a winter on this planet too which is very highly likely to happen. Brad didn't think twice of preparing incase the winter here also alst longer. He must try to also plant some herbs inside here which may become useful for him in the long run.
