Hard as it may be this is his reality now, he's been deluding himself into thinking this place is great and all but deep inside he misses the days when he was in the field. Where bullets fly as he charges towards enemy lines where he had proven himself to be a formidable soldier. But like today Brad was just afraid, afraid to lose his brothers, afraid to see them die, afraid to be left alone standing in front of the graves of the people he deemed his family.
So he had to disobey orders and pierce through deep that the bodies of his enemies were left at everyplace he had passed by just to save his brothers from the encirclement of hundreds of enemies. And save them he did as he gave nightmares to his enemies that he had earned a nickname that day, Brad chuckled when he remembered that day.
Maybe like that he too was afraid here, but he couldn't do anything about it as he is alone with no one else. He's afraid but also relieved he didn't have to hear any news of any of his brothers falling in the heat of battle. Maybe this is a good thing about him, he could no longer worry any news would reach him of sad ends of his friends nor they would tell him about what they have experienced in the field.
Maybe it is time to let go, Brad smiled as he felt lighter and unburdened as he started to accept this place is now his home. Something he had worked hard for the last six months. Maybe he should take this new life slowly and start to enjoy the views even if danger resides on every corner. What's the point of him living and not enjoying it, Brad chuckled at how he had been living like these past few months.
"Guess working day and night might have been taking a toll on me, let's relax for even a day. The tunnels aren't going anywhere, this calls for a toast for me!" Brad smiled as he walked towards a small room he dug out which he had made as a pantry. He opened the door and looked at a crude wooden cabinet with jars with covers sealed with lard made from elk fat. He picked one small jar with an eagle marking on a shelf full of similar small jars.
"Okay let's treat ourselves with Eagle Berry Wine I made! Wish this would come out great cause like the wyvern meat." Brad smiled as he walked back to his bed and sat down. Since he had found some berry bushes and fruits around his area, Brad experimented with many combinations with wine. And he was quite successful so far when he made a wine from a blue colored peach-like fruit that he mixed with a bit of the aphrodisiac herb and Alpha Elk dong.
It was quite a strong drink that made him drunk and hard at the same time for the whole night just from a small cup. He then called it No-Blue Ballin!, a drink that would help husbands in surprising their frustrated wives with a night full of primal urges that he might not remember. Brad know cause he was so confused the next day about why his right hand was so tired he could bare lift a finger the rest of the day.
"Welp here goes nothing!" Brad broke the seal and was immediately assaulted with a very fruity aroma with a hint of sweetness. Brad could see a blood murky red liquid that looked very tempting to the naked eyes.
"If I had a vampire costume and a crystal glass then this would make a great drink...." Brad stared at the wine that seems to speak to him.
"Bottoms up!" Brad then instantly drains the small jar that could only fit about two glasses with it's contents.
"*Glug, glug, gulp! Ahhh!" Brad slammed the jar down breaking it as he relished the after taste.
"Not bad! This cwud bwee daa~~..." Brad then passed out on his bed smiling foolishly.
[Inside Brad's Mind]
Brad was floating within a sea of emptiness as his eyes suddenly opened.
Aarghhhh!!
Huh?
What the?
Where am I?
Did I die?
Why can I think?
Am I not dead?
Then where am I?
Damn that wine was good!
Huh?
What's that?
Brad felt he saw a glimmer far away which made him curious and want to come over. Then he felt his vision changed as his body moved to close in the glittering object he saw. Which turned out to be a video or hologram showing a hand holding on a phone while browsing youtube.
"Huh? This seems familiar, where have I seen this before." Brad looked at a video of men making thing out from nothing, like how to get Iron from iron ores, how to make steel and even how to make wild glue which Brad realized that he had been doing things wrong.
"If I did it wrong then why did the glue I made stick like real glue? Was it the tree sap alone? Wait, I'm on a new world so physics and chemistry might apply here but some species of flora and fauna is inherently different from the ones from earth.
Sure there may be similarities but I have been looking at how things very wrong! Seems the knowledge from these memories are somewhat useful if I could draw inspiration from them but I must not forget that this world is entirely different. This means I must document all of the different things here so I could maybe make something more... wait, memories?" Brad looked around him and realized that the glowing light around had increased and it all played everything he had seen before in his life.
"Holy shit! Did that drink enhance my brain? This means I could browse my brain anytime I want, Oh shit even things that were in 4K are here! Yes!! Wait, then what am I doing here? Is this just a subconscious image I made cause I am still unconscious outside? Maybe my body is just adapting." Brad smiled as he floated around to reminisce all of his memories good and bad. What he spent that seems like a whole lifetime here, was just two hours outside as his body went into another change.
