When Sophie heard a masculine voice, she lifted her head to check who was the fearless person, who finally talked to her.
Alex was standing in front of her with a latte plastic cup in his hand. Behind him was standing another man and she promptly stood up.
"I am here to see Mr. Yu Junwei," Sophie replied.
"I am Alex Cheng." He extended his hand to shake hands with her. She did a handshake with him. "Please come with me," he said when Sophie refused. She didn't want anyone to lose their jobs because of her.
"It will not be good for a celebrity like you to stay here," Alex stated and tilted his head to look at his secretary, "You can go for lunch," before turning to Sophie.
"Miss Lin, come with me," Alex repeated again. Sophie could not refuse him anymore and agreed to go with him. Upon reaching the office where Alex worked, she realized that he was a big company official.
She sat on the sofa, and he called someone to bring a glass of water. He hung up the call and settled on the sofa across from her.
"Are you sure that Junwei won't do anything to you? The security guard is no longer at his job," Sophie said with a slight fear in her tone.
"Junwei won't do anything to me. Trust me. We are both best friends. If he throws me out, then he will bring me in too," Alex said with a smile and looked towards the door. The peon brought a glass of water for Sophie and put the tray on the sofa table. She thanked him and picked up the glass to drink water. She drank it and finished it soon.
The person left after taking the glass.
"Miss Lin should have asked her company to contact Junwei," Alex opined.
"He has warned me and told me if anyone contacted him from the agency, then he would make sure to bankrupt it," Sophie replied. Alex was astonished to hear it. Junwei wasn't the type to get angry at anyone to this extent.
"I read about a recent incident of yours with another actress. You have lost many projects, shoots because of it. Is the reason that you want to make Junwei sign a commercial deal with you?" Alex had seen Sophie in the morning, but he didn't intervene until he again saw her in the waiting area of the lobby. "Please be truthful," he added.
"Yes. I think if I get a project with Sunshine Technologies, then I will be able to build my image again," Sophie stated. Since she was Alex's favorite actress too, he decided to help her. Moreover, he saw a different spark between Sophie and Junwei. He wanted his friend to smile again and come out of work.
"Miss Lin cannot see him until this evening," Alex stated, "or probably at night."
"Oh, why?" She was bewildered. "Is he outside?" She asked.
Alex shook his head. "In the workshop. He had even forgotten that it was lunch break. He is like this. Once he gets into the work, he doesn't leave until it's finished. I ran away as soon as the lunch break started," Alex said.
"So, he is a workaholic... no a work-freak," Sophie remarked. "I was surprised when he counted the time during our conversation. He was freaking mad," she muttered.
Alex laughed and agreed with her. Sophie's phone rang, and she looked at the screen. It was Ciao, and she answered the call.
"Sophie, good news. I found Grandpa Yu's number. I have sent you his contact number. Also, Chairman Zheng succeeded in gaining the trust of the board of members. He told him that WC Entertainment grew thanks to you. I am coming to your apartment," Ciao said while smiling.
"I am not at home," Sophie informed him.
"Where are you?" He inquired.
"Umm… I will tell you later," Sophie stated, and told him that she would hang up the call. She looked at the contact number of Yu Ziyang and took a breath of relief. She looked at Alex and told him that she should leave.
He was bewildered to hear her, and nodded at her.
"Please don't tell Junwei that I was here. Thank you so much for coming forward to help me," she stated and stood up. Alex also rose to his feet and saw her off to the car. As Sophie drove away in the car, Alex wondered if she didn't want to meet Junwei anymore. His phone rang in his pocket, and he saw it was Junwei.
"I am eating, Jun. There are still thirty minutes for lunch to get over," Alex said as he looked at his wristwatch.
"Okay. Finish your lunch," Junwei stated.
Alex put the phone inside his pants pocket and walked ahead to have lunch.
Junwei looked at the sheet in his hand and did some calculations in his mind. The software simulation still had a lot of deviations. He checked the graph of the parameters and again started the calculation on the board.
The phone on the table before him rang, but he ignored it. Wang Zexi came forward and checked who was calling Junwei. To his surprise, it was Yu Ziyang.
"Sir, it is your grandfather," Wang Zexi informed Junwei, and the phone again started ringing. He asked him to put it on the speaker. Wang Zexi did so and brought the phone close to Junwei, who was still busy doing calculations.
"Yes, Grandpa," Junwei said.
"When will you come home?" Wu Ziyang inquired.
"I won't come tonight," Junwei said.
"Why? Is your work more important to you than us?" He questioned him.
Junwei stopped writing on the board and took the phone from Wang Zexi. He turned off the speaker and brought it to his ear. "Grandpa, I informed Mom last night that I would be busy with a project these days," Junwei stated.
"So, you won't come?" Yu Ziyang arched his brow.
"Sorry, I cannot, Grandpa," Junwei replied.
"Your mother and I will go out for dinner. I want my grandson to be present," Yu Ziyang affirmed. Before Junwei could tell him to shift it to some other day, Wu Ziyang disconnected the call. The next second, a message popped up showing the location where they would dine together.
