Junwei pulled out the chair for Sophie and she thanked him before sitting on it. After her, he sat down and asked his grandfather why he didn't tell him he would invited Sophie.
"If I had, then you would not have let Miss Lin join us," Ziyang said in a low voice, and looked at Sophie.
"Miss Lin looks beautiful. I am happy that she didn't refuse to join us," Katie said with a smile.
Junwei picked up the menu and selected a few dishes when Sophie asked him not to forget ordering wontons.
"No one likes wontons here," Junwei said coldly.
"Why are you lying? Your mother and I like wontons," Ziyang said and asked him to include that in the dinner. Junwei hummed and ordered the food after a few minutes.
"I was stuck in a bad traffic. I hope I didn't make you all wait for too long," Sophie said with a slight embarrassment on her face.
"Junwei has also comes five minutes earlier than Miss Lin," Ziyang asserted. Sophie was glad that she didn't get late else Junwei would have been mad at her.
Junwei looked around and found not many people were present on the floor. He should not have come and made a good excuse. He understood his grandfather's childishness, but his mother got also involved which was annoying. He could clearly see that his mother and grandfather had something going on in their heads.
The server came with a food trolley and served the food to them. Junwei was not surprised how little Sophie ate and than wasted the rest food. Why did she even ask him to order wontons when she was going to waste it.
"From now on, you should come home early. We don't want you to stay in the office till the midnight," Ziyang told his grandson.
"I cannot do that," Junwei plainly refused to comply with his grandfather's wish.
"Do you want them to stay awake till the midnight for you? You should give your family a proper time," Sophie interrupted him. It sounded as if she reprimanded him.
"Then, will you work on my projects?" Junwei titled his head and glared into her eyes. "Don't speak in my matter when you don't know anything," he sternly told her.
Katie was going to intervene between them, but before she could, Sophie said, "That's an excuse to run away from your family. You have thousands of employees working for you."
"What do you even know about how a company runs? Just focus on your career which is going to end soon," Junwei remarked. The statement was harsh and he didn't realize it until he stopped. However, in his eyes, he said nothing wrong.
"Jun!" Katie was bewildered by the behavior of her son. He didn't have to say this to Sophie. "Apologize to Sophie," she asked him.
"Truth is always bitter," Junwei muttered instead of apologizing.
Sophie was slightly hurt. Junwei's words always hurt her. He was the one who once told her that she would definitely be a great superstar and now he said that. He changed a lot and it hurt her more.
The heated argument between the two led the dinner to go in silence. Sophie dabbed her mouth with the napkin before placing it on the table.
"Thank you, Grandpa Yu and Aunt Yu for inviting me to the dinner. I enjoyed the dinner," Sophie said with a tiny smile on her lips. The table was cleaned soon and they were still on their respective seats.
"Since I am a loyal fan of Miss Lin, I will not let her career end," Ziyang stated and asked Katie to give him the file.
Junwei glanced at his grandfather in bewilderment. It should not be what he was thinking.
Ziyang placed the file on the table and opened it. "I would like to sign Miss Sophie as the model and the brand ambassador of the new model that Sunshine Technologies will launch in the beginning of the next month. Please sign on it, Miss Lin," Ziyang stated.
Junwei arched his eyebrow and wondered if he heard right. He looked at his mother, whose gaze was at Sophie.
"Grandpa, that's not needed. We cannot sign any random actress for it. I don't want it to happen," Junwei opposed the decision of his grandfather.
"Don't forget that I am still the chairman of this company," Ziyang reminded his grandson. "I know what is good and bad for this company," he added and turned his gaze at Sophie. He forwarded the file to Sophie, who signed it without any delay.
Her eyes filled with tears. She thanked Ziyang and Katie for finding her capable for the project of the company.
"I searched when Miss Lin signed a commercial deal with a small start-up which was not doing good, instantly shot to fame after her involvement as their brand ambassador," Katie asserted.
"But Sunshine Technologies is a business of worth billions. This deal wasn't even needed," Junwei was still against it. But what he could even say now. His grandfather had already made a decision and even executed it. That was not enough because his mother also teamed up with his grandfather.
"Since the dinner is over, then I must take my leave. I will pay the bills and see you both off at the car," he told them. Katie looked at her father and wondered what he would say.
"Drop Miss Lin to her home. She is a celebrity and we cannot send her alone," Ziyang told Junwei.
"She came here alone and can also go alone," Junwei affirmed.
"You will drop her home and then you can return to your company. Since when you started ignoring your grandfather's requests? You were such an obedient child," Ziyang stated and sighed.
Five tables away from them, a couple stood up to leave when they recognized Sophie. However, because they were far from them, they were still in doubt. On going close, they were sure that it was Sophie.
"Excuse me."
All of them heard a masculine voice and looked in the direction of the couple.
"Yes?" Junwei asked them.
"My wife is a die hard fan of Sophie. Can she get an autograph and picture with Sophie Lin?" the man asked.
"Ahh, sure." Sophie said. The young woman quickly went to her and handed her the notepad which she always carried in her handbag. Sophie did an autograph for her and then the husband of the woman clicked their pictures. The couple thanked Sophie and left happily.
"Miss Lin is so good to her fans," Ziyang said.
"Jun, you should drop Sophie home. Her manager isn't in the city. That's why she came alone here. Go with her and drop her home," Katie told her son this time.
Junwei pulled up a face and called the waiter. He paid the bills before walking out of the floor.
Sophie stood up, and she carried the file. She thanked Ziyang and Katie for their great help. She bowed at them and then ran after Junwei.
