Chapter 38 - The End of the Ball Game

For a few minutes, she stood thinking of where exactly she would go when an idea struck her.

Her about her using the time to solve some of her problems?

"Dylan, wait!" Amy said as she rushed towards the parking lot where Dylan was heading to.

She had decided to wait for Dylan by some building and was adamant that come what may, and they had to talk.

Luckily for her, he had shown up just when she was about to give up.

Dylan had headphones on, and there was a big possibility he couldn't even hear what he was being told.

"'S*it!" Amy cursed as she moved faster toward Dylan. She tapped him on his shoulder, and Dylan gasped as he turned in shock to look at Amy.

"I want to talk to you," Amy said authoritatively after inhaling deeply, and Dylan looked at the time on his watch and shook his head.

"Not today. I have a date with Camila, and I can't keep her waiting. You must know how keeping time is important," he murmured in sarcasm as he made a step away from Amy, who did the same.

'S*it!' Amy cursed in frustration as she struggled to keep her cool.

Dylan was knowingly getting to her, and she didn't want to give him more reasons to avoid her.

"I understand that I haven't been fair to you, but I don't understand why you would want to avenge that by getting into a relationship with Camila. Goodness Dylan. I thought you knew better than this. Why didn't you get any other girl then?" Amy said in a rush before softly slapping her forehead at the realization that her insults would push Dylan further from her.

"I'm sorry," she added softly in an apologetic voice.

"You're just sorry now. Who knows why? Maybe you have missed me by your bed, or maybe you don't want me, but you also don't want me to be with someone else," Dylan said dismissively, and Amy shut her eyes.

He had hit the nail on the head, and she couldn't blame him for it, just like she couldn't blame herself for not wanting and wanting to fully let him in.

"Okay, can we agree on something else?" She asked, and Dylan blankly stared at her.

"Camila told me she wanted to get closer to Ivan and Steph, and that's why I'm against this relationship. Through you, the lives of innocent students will be ruined, Dylan. You have to stop it now," Amy said sharply in a voice that sounded like a warning and a plea at the same time.

"Can I tell you something?" Dylan asked, and Amy's heart pumped faster with the knowledge that things would only get worse.

"How long you know someone doesn't matter. It's their intentions that count. I couldn't agree more," Dylan started, and Amy shook her head, not comprehending where the conversation was leading.

"I have known you for so long, Amy, yet I didn't realize you were jealous, mean, and hypocritical. I'm just so glad it all came out. Guys here have demonized Camila, yet she is the sweetest of humans. I find myself getting out of my comfort zone with her, and it's just amazing," Dylan added with a sly smile and a soft chuckle.

"I moved in with her. Can you imagine that?" He asked, and Amy felt her heart stop beating for a minute.

She felt bile slowly rise within her, consuming every inch of her body as the poison slowly spreads to the other parts of her body.

The pain she felt was numbing, and her chest felt like a fireplace which burned more and more as more wood was added. It felt like a sharp knife covered in salt was slicing into her bones and muscles.

"W…what?" She managed to ask in a breaking voice as tears forced their way down her cheeks.

"You heard me right," Dylan said as he moved past Amy, who felt all the energy in her body being drained.

She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs, but she couldn't even summon that willpower.

Dylan had refused to move in with her even when she needed him the most, yet he had no second thoughts about doing it with Camila.

What about the faith and beliefs he talked of?

She couldn't stop thinking whether she had really been a bad girlfriend, as Dylan suggested or if Camila had totally brainwashed Dylan.

Only time would tell.

"Hey," Rina said in a low and numb voice as she opened her house door to find Janely and Chloe standing outside.

"Hey," Chloe said as she hugged Rina tightly and then walked into the house. She instantly sneezed when she smelled the damp air.

"I'm sorry," Rina said apologetically. She was in sweatpants and looked very unkempt.

"You've not been to school for a while. Your phone is also off, so we decided to check up on you," Janely said from the other sofa, and Rina nodded and chuckled softly.
