"F*ck you! Why are we going to the station then?" Victoria cursed. "Which hospital is he in? I need to go and see my son."
Ignoring her tantrums, Simeon kept on driving.
"Are you deaf or something? I said I wanted to go and see my son. Take me to him or stop the vehicle so I alight. I'll find my way to him," Victoria continued shouting, and as sudden as lightning, Simeon stepped on the brakes, and the vehicle came to a screeching halt.
"He is fine; a few cops are watching over him. To the station, it is," Dennis said, and in defiance, Victoria tried opening the car door, which refused to open.
"Mrs. Lee, we have been patient with you, and you took advantage of it. You can be charged with obstruction of justice, and we both know that doesn't end well. Your husband was threatened about having to pay for your actions, yet you are here, still saying you did nothing wrong. You sat back in silence as you let a high profile person sit to be questioned when you knew he was innocent…." Simeon ranted at Victoria, who rudely interrupted as she cursed the cops to go to hell for all she cared.
"Enough of your high emotions, mum…." Steph shouted, and Victoria turned to angrily look at her as she pointed an index finger at her and said, "Remember at all times that I'm your mother, and you can't talk to me as you wish."
"Your son… might have been poisoned through the food he was given. Are you still going to keep quiet or spill the beans?" Simeon turned to ask in a sharp voice.
Victoria felt an irresistible urge to wet herself.
"As you can now tell, the kidnapping wasn't about ransom. The guy wanted to slowly kill your son. It's a personal vendetta. When we traced your husband's phone signal, it led us to some abandoned house where we assumed they were first held. The forensics ran the fingerprints found therein, and we have a name. Ben Chavez. Does it ring a bell?"
Victoria slowly shook her head in denial, and Steph clicked her tongue in disgust.
"Maybe y'all should just lock her up for a while. It will do us some good," Steph said with disgust and wordlessly. Simeon started the car.
'It's going to be a long night,' Victoria sadly thought. She couldn't help but wonder what the next few hours had for her.
"Can I have your attention, everyone?" Luke shouted at the top of his voice, and the drama club students ignored him and kept scrolling through their phones as some slowly rehearsed.
"We haven't been doing well, and so we have to make some changes," Luke pointed out, and all the students slowly turned to look at him.
"What exactly do you mean?" One of the students shouted, and the others nodded in agreement at his question.
"Ivan and Steph, our main characters, haven't been in for practice for as long as we can remember, and we can't continue doing this," Luke said, and there were murmurs from all the students.
"Is there someone who can take up their role?" Luke asked, and a number of students showed interest by raising their hands up.
"The rest of you can have this evening as your off day. I'll have these other group audition," Luke said as some of the students hurriedly left, joy written all over their faces.
"I just met this guy on Tinder, and he insists on us going for a day. Luke doesn't know how much he has done, just what I was hoping for," one of the girls, Cathy, murmured, and her friend jiggled.
"The rehearsals these days are so boring," the friend, Eva, pointed out, and Cathy laughed as she softly patted Eva on the shoulder.
"It's because Ivan is with Steph. I know you always came here solely for him, but these days, he barely looks at you," Cathy pointed out.
Eva suddenly stopped walking. Her expression changed to anger, and she started breathing heavily.
"Hey, what's up?" Cathy asked with concern.
Eva deeply inhaled as she said, "I stood a chance because Steph wasn't in the picture, and now, all my dreams have been washed away. I kept coming for rehearsals even after Luke changed our roles with the hope that Ivan would yearn for me, but…."
"Ivan isn't worth the fight. He will dump Steph before she knows it and go running into another girl's arms. If I were you, I would focus on getting a better guy online," Cathy said dismissively.
Eva nodded in agreement.
She knew Cathy had a point, but she wasn't willing to just let Ivan slip through her fingers.
Over the next few minutes, Luke watched with interest as different students tried to fit into Ivan's and Steph's shoes.
Then, from nowhere, he heard loud claps from behind him and a sarcastic laugh, and he froze in his seat.
