Chapter 7 - Become An Animal!

He made his way to the small river and quickly hid behind a bunch of bushes. What beast was he to encounter. He thought maybe a Rabid Rat. Dangerous pure beasts with barely any control of their actions. Although they were fearsome, they were probably the easiest to deal with.

As long as you got over the fear factor of their sharp teeth and blood red eyes, their movements were quite readable and obvious. As soon as it jumped towards Yin, he knew he could just thrust his spear in front of him and easily pierce the rats heart.

It could have also been a snake however, but he hoped it wasn't with all his heart. Snake beasts were horrible to deal with, mostly because of how smart they were and how unpredictable their movements could be.

Hiss...

Just then, the sound of a snakes hiss suddenly sounded. Yin's mind immediately focused. His heart slightly sank into his chest as he gripped his spear and pulled his eyes open. Several feet away from him, near the river; was the Slytherin Serpent.

It was absolutely menacing, one of fairytales that gave even demons the chills.

A 20 foot long behemoth reptile with eyes like a dark moons crescent, and teeth like two long daggers.

Right now, Yin was dreading not having slept during the night. His hands had started to shake and his grip loosed slightly even against his efforts to keep them tight. It was not just due to his exhaustion, but also his fear.

He wanted to run, everything in his body was telling him to escape. It was too big, too ferocious. Because he was so malnourished, the snake looked even bigger than normal; it looked more mighty than normal.

'I can't do it. There's no way. I need to find an easier prey, I still have some salt.' He thought to himself, making sure not to move as he knew a snakes hearing was superb.

Just then, as the snake got closer to the river, Yin started to think about how predators hunted. Did they also get scared? Did they also just give up when they were malnourished?

'No...' A sudden realization came to him. The times when animals hunted most direly, was when they were starved and malnourished. The times when animals became absolutely bloodthirsty monsters, was when they were starved of food for even longer.

Yin didn't understand this, why was it that they tried even harder, even though they had gotten weaker... it was because every step that made them weaker, also made them hungrier. Hungrier for a kill, for food.

That's what Yin needed. He needed to be hungry. He needed to want to rip that snakes head open and drink its brains from its skull! He needed to become an animal!

Suddenly, a wave of adrenaline surged throughout his body. A powerful chemical in the brain that makes one forget about their pain and exhaustion, one that relies on the flight or fight instinct. Right now, Yin chose to fight.

As the snake started to drink the water, Yin jumped out of the bush and charged towards the snake with spear in hand.

The snake immediately got up, not quite ready to defend itself. It stared at the human that was running towards him in the eyes.

A small boy with a stick?

It widened its mouth and lunged directly towards Yin.

'What's this? It's moves are far too predictable?' Yin thought to himself as he positioned the spear right in front of him, ready to thrust into the snakes open mouth.

'This is... an opportunity! A perfect one at that!' He said in his head as his spear came only an inch away from piercing the snakes mouth.

Chomp!

Out of nowhere, a large crocodile creature lunged out of the water and bit down on the body of the snake. It was an Iron Jawed Crocodile, a powerful formation beast, one that was on another level from a pure beast.

It seemed that the crocodile had the same plan as Yin, however, due to each other; both of their plans got soiled.

The snake immediately moved out of the way of Yin's spear, and the crocodiles bite was too far away to stick, and so, it floated back down into the water.

Although the crocodile had left, due to its failed plan; the snake had now dodged Yin's golden opportunity. The snake, still injured, quickly lunged its mouth towards Yin again. He quickly jumped to the side, avoiding the strike just by an inch.

'Damn! Just die already snake!' Yin yelled in his head as he ran around the snake, trying to get to the back of its body so he could stab the tail of the creature.

However, the snake was not letting that happen, it immediately turned its body, facing Yin once again.

'Fuck!'

Yin then ran back around the snake, making sure to not stay still for even a moment; for a single one-second lunge by the snake and he would be toast.

On turning back around this time, Yin noticed that the snake's reaction was a lot slower when turning from its left side.

'The bite wound.' Yin thought to himself.

Although at first he had thought of the crocodile as only a hinder, he know realized that it may have been a good thing afterall.

He ran around the snake again, this time running from the left side. The snakes reaction was just slow enough. He quickly forced the spear down onto the skin of the snake.

"Your mine snake!!"

It had hardened scales, but not hard enough to block the spear. As the spear pierced through the serpents body, Yin quickly jumped a couple feet back.

With no weapon in hand, Yin slowly started to back up, keeping eyes on the snake at all times.

The slithery beast started to move towards Yin, but its movements had gotten slower. Its eyes slowly turned blue. Finally, it's head stopped raising straight, and fell to the floor. The snake had been killed.

"Yes... Yes!!" Yin yelled, full of pride and exhilaration.

He picked the spear up from the snakes body before stabbing it a couple more times with full force. He wanted to truly feel his victory.

Without wasting any more time, Yin cut off a chunk of the snakes meat and walked back towards the river.

He knew that it was extremely dangerous to keep the body of the snake just lying around, but he had no other choice. He also knew that by leaving the dead body, it would probably be eaten by the time he came back, but right now, it was fine with Yin.

He felt no greed, for he knew that once nourished, he could do it again; in fact; it would even serve as training.

"Eat well you crocodile cunt. You earned some of this as well. However, don't forget that I am only feeding you up so that your meat will be even more tender when I kill and eat you next!" Yin yelled towards the water with a chunk of meat in his hands before starting to make his way towards the tree with a smile on his face.
