Van and Max began walking towards the city on the horizon on a path that wasn't too far from where they appeared. They talked as they walked about their state of matters.
"You know the state doesn't send their state doctors to orphanage's for small matters right? You've seen how they sit back and watch us die even when the technology available today can cure almost any illness." Max said to Van getting straight to the point diving into the topic from the other day.
"I've noticed… I've only seen state doctors come out when there's been complaints of some type of mental illness in someone. And normally after the state comes to see them their said to be taken to a mental institution." Van replied stating his observation, and hearing himself he felt like he was struck with a bolt of realization as his eyes widened and the shock and fear in his heart rose to a new level.
Looking at Van's expression max nodded and said, "So you understand now, it's probably more accurate to say they disappeared rather than saying they were sent to a mental institute, as if you paid closer attention some of them actually disappeared before the state even came to retrieve them but the same excuse was used for those as the ones the state actually took away." Max said this and waited for Van to absorb what he'd just said.
[Hmmm there must be more going on than what even I know if what he's saying is true. I know that this entire universe is governed by one body so it makes sense for this to be happening in many more places than just your planet] the voice of the system sounded in Van's mind.
"Hmm Max, I need to ask you before we continue this conversation, how long have you been aware of this and how are you making us appear in different locations." Van wanted to see how open Max would be with him as it would give him a better judgement as to how far he could trust him.
Max was a little surprised that these were his questions as he stopped walking where he was while also stopping Van, "I've been watching since the first case of one of the orphans disappearing, I found it odd that the state would watch on as we died however when someone had a mental issue they intervened almost instantly. Since then I've noticed the strange occurrences and even documented them…"
"I just couldn't speak out because it seems like the observers at the orphanage are in on it, I've had to be very meticulous and cautious in this and even more so in hiding my identity. As for your second question I don't know why but I feel like I can trust you with this information. I'm actually not from this world or even this universe. I was living normally up until I died I was 33 when that happened. But after dying I woke up here as a baby. In this life I watched my parents sell me to the orphanage not willing to let someone who'd sell me out know my secret. I've been hiding it ever since."
"But long story short when I turned 7 I awakened the ability to teleport as any place if seen been to or see in a photo I can instantly appear there. We'll it has to do with its distance and how much energy I have too but once I learned how to absorb the energy in the air I found a way to use the energy around me act as a beacon connecting me to where I want to go so now I can go anywhere."
Hearing Max, Van was close to stupefied as this was entirely outside of his realm of expectation. [just as I had thought he seems to have reincarnated into this world, and awakened an affinity with space.] The voice of the system sounded in the shocked Van's mind.
Van took a few moments to digest this before he was brought back to his senses by Max pulling him in a hurry to continue towards the city, "Alright now that that's over let's go we shouldn't be gone too long lest they take notice."
Van shook out of his shock and nodded his head as they continued towards the city in silence.
'So you're telling me he's actually not from this world and can use the power of space itself? So over powered and here I thought I was OP' Van said to the system while still digesting all the information he'd just received.
[Correct, in a world like this even the poorest beggars likely have their share of secrets never judge a book by it's cover] the system gave a fair warning to Van who was now understanding that everyone was special in one way or another.
At this moment Van and Max were approaching the gates of the city as they passed through a holographic barrier that scanned their bodies.
[Non-hostile awakened beings detected permisión to enter Moon Blossom City authorized] an automated voice sounded from above them.
"What was that?" Van turned to ask Max with a slightly startled expression.
"Don't worry all the advanced cities of many worlds in this universe are able to detect and measure the intentions of those that enter based on their emotional state."
"Wow that's some advanced technology alright, I wonder how it works it even said we we're both awakened… Wait it said I was awakened!" Van said as his neurotic tendency of panicking began to show itself.
