Van and Max walked into the Platinum Owl where they were greeted by a host.
"Good Morning young master Max, would you like your usual arrangements? Also would you be dining with this esteemed guest today?" The female host that looked no younger than 22 with a medium complexion and silky silver dress asked when she saw Max enter with Van.
"Ahh yes the same private room behind the kitchen, also bring us some wine." Max replied shocking Van who was with him that knew they were both underage.
The host led them through the kitchen into the private dining room. Where she handed Van a menu and confirmed that Van wanted his usual meal of a prime wagyu steak with sliced potato and a vegetable referred to as a life root.
After looking over the menu and not really understanding anything they served here Van opted to order the same thing that Max had ordered. When the hostess walked out Van Looked at Max and asked…
"Young Master Max, would you please enlighten me" Van had an amused looked on his face as it was surprising to see him being called young master when he was made aware that his parents had sold him off to the state to go to an orphanage and be apart of the states test subjects.
"Ah about that remember I told you I reincarnated to this world. Well after I awakened my power I realized I was basically given another chance to be a somebody in life. I actually own this restaurant, and I own a third of this city. You'd have thought that they wouldn't let a kid own so much stuff or something bad would have happened to me, but when the city lord saw how much of an asset I am to the city he allowed me to do as I please in establishing businesses and even public policy." Max said as if what he had done was just something minor while his face carried no emotions on the matter.
Just as Max finished explaining the situation to Van, a waiter walked in with a bottle of wine that carried a heavy scent of flowers. The scent was so sweet that it caught Van's attention. "What is that?" He asked with an excited and curious look on his face as the aroma of the wine had already caused chemicals to start flowing through his brain.
"It's Moon Blossom wine, the moon blossom is a legendary flower that can only grow at the peak of a mountain under 300 full moons. It can strengthen one's body and also strengthen one's mind, legend say's if you are lucky to see a moon blossom when it blooms you will become enlightened to the secrets of the world in that moment." The waiter that brought in the wine said as he poured two glasses and sat the bottle in a container filled with ice on the center of the table.
'Wow that's like basically some magic flower,I COULD NEVER AFFORD THIS WINE' Van internally groaned as he thought about how much something like this must cost.
The waiter left soon after pouring the glasses allowing Van to go back to the subject of 'Young Master Max' "So how'd you do it and if you own so much why are you still at the orphanage? Where did you even find the time for all this?"
"Slow down slow down, it wasn't that hard in my last life I studied finances… when I first awakened my power I actually stole a lot of stuff and then sold it in a black market." Max started explaining how he amassed his wealth only to be abruptly cut off by Van.
"So much for your heroic motivation, you're just your everyday thug with powers." Van said almost as if he was above him for not stealing.
"Woah woah, it's not like that chill out, I only stole from dead people so it's not a big deal." Max said trying to defend his image in Vans eyes but it had the opposite effect.
"You monster…" Van said with an expression that said he was mortified of the human he was sitting across from. "That's almost worse than robbing the blind you stole from people that had worked their entire lives and had no way to defend themselves… I don't know what to say."
[Cut him some slack their money is more well used by a living person than rotting and deteriorating away with their corpses] the system chimed in causing Van to look at it from a slightly different perspective.
Max was looking down and hadn't replied in a while, seeing this Van started to feel bad so he attempted to lighten the mood. "My bad man sometimes I don't think before I speak. At least you put those dead farts money to good use right? We should drink this wine to that at least!" Max's poor social skills were catching up to him at this moment.
Luckily if 2 people with poor social skills interacted it was essentially the same as 2 masters of social interactions being together.
Max looked up as Van who was smiling at him with his glass in his hand he proceeded to clasp his glass with Van's. And they gulped down the wine and laughed and drank until their food was brought out.
