The sound of the pounding shoe heels was extremely reverberant. Everyone's attention was on the girl wearing the shoes, despite the doubts that persisted at every turn. Countless questions suddenly entered everyone's minds, but no one dared to voice them out loud.
With the exception of Dania. After giving Chris her thanks, the man left her without saying anything, and Dania didn't seem to mind. The girl then moved toward the storage room and set down the pricey bag that Chris had prepared earlier that day. People will eventually realize that Dania is not permitted to own this item.
"Oh God! Dan?" Olivia regarded Dania with a perplexed expression; the friend of Dania was on the verge of covering her mouth with her hand in case curiosity did not cause her to utter anything.
"What did I just see? You, Mr. Chris?" Dania had never worn anything like that, and Olivia had seen that the handbag she was using was not a random item. Dania wasn't too surprised by Olivia's response because she anticipated it.
"Don't expect it if you think I'm cheating with the boss!" Dania told Olivia. Dania shut the locker door until it made a loud noise. "He clearly has different tastes than a girl like me."
Olivia, who was still in awe and couldn't believe it, was left behind by Dania. It took Olivia a short while to regain consciousness and catch up with Dania after becoming lost in her own thoughts.
Olivia's gaze in her eyes was inseparable from this colleague of her profession, Olivia still hadn't gotten an answer to the question in her head. Although she knew Dania could not be her boss's girlfriend or even the man's mistress. Impossible. Olivia shook her own head making Dania finally uncomfortable too, she turned to Olivia and motioned for her to let Olivia say whatever she wanted.
"Tell me!" A simple request necessitates the longest explanation, which Dania, the lazy one, provides.
"I'll tell you all about it after lunch. But you know me pretty well, right?" At work, she looked for a friend and looked for a defense. because as she passed the reception desk, where she was in charge of, a female employee gave her yet another weird glance. It appeared to them as though Dania had committed the most horrible crime.
Looking at Dania, Olivia nodded. Dania was so rational to avoid contacting her boss, and Olivia must have known this.
"I accidentally met Mr. Chris on the road. I was about to be late for work, so Mr. Chris offered a ride and, yahh... I accepted his kindness."
Even though Olivia was sure that Dania was a fine woman, even for her, and that she was better at everything than she was, Olivia continued to feel as though there was something unusual about the story Dania told. Nevertheless, Olivia made an effort to believe her friend.
"Is it not previously known to you that our boss is renowned for having a side that... dark, deep?" With both hands, Olivia placed quote marks as she and Dania conversed over lunch. "Mr. Chris has no empathy. Whoever deceived or disrupted his life immediately was gone."
"Wussshhhhhh...." Olivia's hand demonstrated what she believed to be a wind movement.
Before continuing, Olivia sucked in some spit, turned her head to the left and right, and began speaking in a whisper. "He claimed that they had been altered or relocated to a branch office, but some of them actually wind up in hospitals."
When Olivia told her story, Dania assumed it was a joke and she gave her friend an odd look. "Perhaps the pressures of work leave them worn out or stressed out."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, it's absolutely dumb to be a person," said Olivia.
The emotion Olivia had created between the two was made worse by Dania's dismissive attitude toward her story.
"They appear to have several dog bite wounds as well. I'm not sure. Wounds from tigers, crocodiles, or other wild animals." The rumor was widely spread, but Olivia was not persuaded.
"You were there, right?" The veracity of the rumors was disputed by Dania Masig.
Olivia quickly answered, "no,"
"You know Mr. Ryan, right? Due to his personal experience, he said that the rumors were accurate."
"You should believe it now!"
Dania was affected by Olivia's narrative this time; she stopped breathing and envisioned the severity of being bitten by an animal, even though she never believed a human would do such a heinous thing.
Dania answered distractedly, "I don't really like gossip." However, Darren kept her from socializing unless Darren came along with Dania, so she didn't have time to meet up with coworkers outside of business hours.
"You're right, it feels like you have to bring your boyfriend even if you're invited to a children's party, huh?"
Several individuals turned their heads in Olivia's direction when she suddenly struck the table with the palm of her right hand.
"Don't tell me you were with Mr. Chris last night already ...." Dania leaned forward, and Olivia peered at her with her eyes wide open. "That guy, he came to my place yesterday to look for you!"
Dania's hands on the table began to tremble immediately, and she immediately began to perspire, which caused her temples to get damp. Dania decided against going to her friend's house last night because she thought Chris's home was safer because Darren undoubtedly knew where Olivia resided.
"Dan ...." Olivia took hold of Dania's still-shaking hand. "Don't just leave him alone, whatever the nature of your issue with him may be. Last night, his face was utterly a mess."
If only Olivia understood what had happened to her, there is no way that she would still be on Darren's side, but telling Olivia about it didn't help Dania and might have even worsened the situation.
"Dan, give yourself some time to reflect. Where else could you possibly find a potential husband as perfect as him? Even .... Dan, are you okay?"
Dania's head was spinning and she was no longer able to hear her friend's remarks, despite the fact that she could see Olivia's lips were smiling and moving. Her stomach suddenly started to turn.
Dania said, "I'll go use the bathroom first." Dania stumbled from her table but continued moving as swiftly as she could into the restroom when Olivia called her name with concern.
Darren. Dania didn't forget the man, but in the wake of yesterday's events, she was unable to comfort Darren. Dania will come to an end if it means dying. Because she didn't want anybody to hear her sob in the toilet stall, the girl fought back her tears and her terror until she was no longer able to. Dania took almost ten minutes to decide to depart.
Olivia waved goodbye to Dania as she approached her slowly and yelled, "Dan, our rest hours are up!" Olivia looked at Dania. Dania disliked throwing food out, but the two of them lacked the time to finish the tray that was still half-full.
"Do you feel alright?"
"Yeahh."
Someone purposefully pushed the girl's body as she sat down to eat till Dania was accusing. She was going to place her dish in the spot marked in a corner of the canteen.
"Hey!! I suppose you don't regret it!" olivia cried out.
Even though the soup from the pot spilled and ruined the girl's clothes—clothes that were not Dania's and for which she was not to blame if they were ruined—the woman who bumped Dania didn't appear to feel bad about it.
She responded with a shriek, "Sorry, but she's also guilty of walking by looking down."
"Wow!! You truly don't have any manners!"
Olivia is a person who never stops moving and dislikes laid-back people. However, Dania left Olivia because she didn't want to waste her energy on a fight of this nature and her head was already hurting. She carried her tray and put it where it belonged before leaving.
For some reason, Chris, who didn't typically eat lunch in the office cafeteria, decided to do so on this particular day, and he was forced to watch the scene that had just taken place between Dania and the other workers. Dania wasn't aware that Chris had been watching her every move ever since she exited the bathroom, or that Chris was giving herself a peculiar, focused look. Chris was perplexed, and Dania wasn't the only one. He didn't understand why he was drawn to the girl.
Dania felt dumb since her head was empty today and she was unable to focus. Dania was silently staring at her superior's face even when Matt asked her a question.
"Miss Rivera!"
When Mr. Matt roared in her face, Dania's heart seemed to be about to stop. He took a breath before replying to the call from his supervisors. "Yes, sir."
"I-yes, sir?" The man stood waist-to-waist with his mouth open and jerked to nag Dania. "You heard me just now, or not?"
Dania lowered her head and gently shook it; though she could see Mr. Matt's mouth speaking to her, she was unable to hear him.
"Ignore it! The request I just made was swiftly carried out by Miss Wilde." After introducing Dania, Mr. Matt seemed to be really worn out. After shaking off his hand, he turned to face Olivia.
At five o'clock in the afternoon, Dania's shift came to an end. She unlocked the locker holding her belongings and took a seat on the long wooden bench that was in the centre of the room's lockers. Dania is alone and musing, her mind empty. She ought to have returned home, but there was nowhere else she could go because she was frightened of running into Darren. She might not be able to sleep as peacefully as she did at Chris's house the previous night.
The sun is still shining. Even though it appears to be raining, Dania always rushes over because she doesn't want her clothes to get wet. However, today she is hoping that as soon as her footsteps start to leave the office area, the rain will fall and wet her body rather than always seem romantic.
Dania usually took the bus today because it was quieter and she could sit by herself without having to share a seat. The girl opened the window glass and leant back, closing her eyes and savoring the breeze. Dania finally decided to shut her windows again as the air felt humid and was polluted by other cars' exhaust emissions. Hah! The young woman missed her father and her hometown, where there were still plenty of trees and the air was clean. Dania desired to return home.
Dania was a little nervous as she ascended the stairs step by step, but she soon realized that she was trapped by Darren and that there was no way she could escape. When Dania reached the floor where her room was situated, she could see her door was only slightly ajar, the light in her room was on, and noise was coming from inside.
Dania's gut tightened when she heard the sound coming from her chamber, despite her earlier assertion that she had accepted whatever was about to happen. She was scared that Darren was inside and ready to attack her because no one else had the key to her room. When Dania heard laughter coming from inside her room, she understood that at least two people were sharing it—Darren couldn't have been alone. Dania tried to center herself by holding her breath until the muscles in her neck hurt and stiffened. The person in Darren's room made him feel both afraid and intrigued.
Barely the people inside who were moving toward her allowed her to come any closer to the door to Dania's room, which was only a meter away.
"Dany?" When her name was shouted as the door suddenly opened, leaving Dania's knees weak and her face damp with perspiration, her fears had to come to an end when she recognized the man's voice and the wrinkled expression on her face.
"D-dad?"
Dania was hurt by her father's smile, which was accompanied by a smile. Dania's greatest enemy, whom she detested the most, was sloppily embracing her father, who didn't know anything and believed that she was happy with Darren. Dania was frightened of this person ever since.
"You're running late, baby."
