Chapter 40 - SHÉSHIZÚ – THE SNAKE CLAN.

A day came by, the senator wanted to prove to his daughter that he was a saint. He saw an indigent woman walking on the road, he had pity on her, and he gave some amount of money. She was so happy, and she thanked the senator sincerely. To add his value in his daughter's eye, so he decides to donate hundred thousands of dollars to the community. He donated some funds to a non-governmental agency. He cultivated the habit of smiling to everyone he saw. He told Vanya that he had repented and is ready to change from his old ways. Vanya saw sincerity in her father's eyes (She was obviously controlled by her emotions.)

After two months, from faking to be good, Senator Theodore really saw how beautiful doing good was. It was free of lies and deception, there's no fear of getting caught by the police: an amazing experience. It seemed Senator Theodore never truly knew the essence of live. His society's love for him grew to it's climax. The world was a better place being nice. Senator Theodore loved what he was doing. He was impacting lives rather than destroying them. From faking to be nice, he actually became nice. He repented truly from all his sins. He prayed his crimes would never come to light. But karma was against him, he had done too much damage already. Sooner or later, his crime would be an overt news.

Vanya regained her trust for her dad. She simply hoped he was telling the truth.

Two weeks passed and fortunately no councilor had been murdered. Oliver had his suspicion on Li Chang, but he wasn't certain Li Chang was the "surgeon".

More days passed, and Oliver started getting pretty good in Kung-Fu. He knew the basic moves; he was fast with his fists and feet. He had high reflexes. As he practiced, he practiced for one reason – revenge. He wanted to avenge his father's death by all means; even though if it meant fighting all Senator Theodore's guards. He upheld the promise he made to his father; he got enrolled to the school in the middle of Shéshizú, he wanted to fulfill his dreams for a better life.

'Hello,' A Chinese girl calls out to him. She was really pretty; she had a long hair with bangs.

'I'm Daniella, and you're?'

This was the first Chinese girl Oliver had met with a non-Chinese name.

'I'm Oliver.' Oliver replies.

Oliver answered some difficult questions on his first day, and this impressed Daniella.

After the class, Oliver rushes out of the school to his Kung-Fu lessons. Daniella had seen Oliver with the chieftain of Shéshizú, Li Chang. She wanted to know Oliver more, but Oliver closed his heart towards any other girl for friendship, other than Vanya.

At night, Oliver noticed Li Chang sneaking out again. This time he was set to follow him. He followed him beyond the cave's entrance, but he lost him as soon as he enters the cave. But Oliver was sure Li Chang didn't walk towards the exist. He traced the direction he went, and he was in an enclosed place. The rock-like door to the place was ajar. He walks inside, and he was welcomed by the mixed-up scent of different flowers. The place was beautiful, with flowers all around. The markings of Shéshizú was painted on the cave walls. Several drawings were also painted on the wall. The drawings depicted history. Oliver found out that the clan was a weapon producing people. The drawings showed how the clan made bullets with markings of Shéshizú. He was about to find more when he feels a cold steel placed on his neck – It was a dagger.

'If you move I'll kill you. You know you're trespassing.' He heard Li Chang say.

Oliver was even scared to say anything, because the sharp edge of the dagger may tear into his throat. Li Chang lowers the dagger.

'This part of the cave is not for outsiders.' Li Chang says, while Oliver was still facing the wall.

Oliver turns to see Li Chang. Li Chang was shirtless. He had a lot of tattoo on his body, similar to the ones on the walls.

'Wow!' Oliver exclaims.

He still wore his necklace, and he wore a lose skirt.

'I would have killed you if I wanted to, but you're a close friend.' Li Chang says.

'All the secrets of Shéshizú is buried in this cave. I come here frequently just to be reminded of how several people sacrificed their lives for the world. Shéshizú is a group of people who produce weapons for a living. We were known for producing great armor piercing bullets, and explosives. But everything went wrong when a group of government officials decided that they wanted to create a defense against the world. They were scared that they were not equipped enough for the third world war. The didn't trust the other continents of the world. They wanted to reign supreme, if the third world war breaks out, so they employed our clan, to secretly create dangerous missiles. These missiles were made with some of the most dangerous chemicals on earth. Hundreds of them were made; They were made to be activated by only one key, and if launched can destroy a whole country. Because of the chemical combination, an airborne disease caused by the missile would spread around the country, and destroy millions of lives.

Several years had gone past, and most of those officials were no more. But some group of individuals who wanted to start against other continents. They are pure racists, they just hated other countries, and they also had hidden motives that we don't know about. They want to retrieve the missiles which was hidden by my grand father, the former Head of the council. My grand father knew their motive, and he didn't want to cause a war that will wipe out humanity. He was a piece loving man; he refused to tell them where he hid it, so they tortured him to death. He died, but he left the secret activation key, which without it the missiles were of no use.

My father found the key, and kept it safe. We enjoyed peace for a really short time, before the real war against Shéshizú began. The enemy wanted to retrieve the key at all cost. He sent his legion of soldiers to take the secrets from our grasp. My father sacrificed his life to protect the world from impending doom. In his words he said:

'Nobody really wins in a war. You must lose, somebody, something, or your humanity. I wish for no other thing than everyone from all the parts of the world to live in peace.'

Many died as the legion of soldiers killed most of the people of the People of the clan. The invaded our village, burnt house, slaughtered men, women, and children. After the incident, my family was wiped out totally.

I know they are still after the activation key, and the map to the missiles, but we'll stand strong against them. Good will always triumph, but… not all good people live to tell the tales.' Li Chang says.

Oliver now knew that this war was bigger than just Shéshizú. It was a battle to save the whole world from an endless war.

'Where's the key, now?' Oliver asks.

'The secret are prohibited from an outsider. I'm sorry I can't tell you, even my clan don't know it's location.' Li Chang says. 'I think the killing of all the generals by the surgeon, is also a part of the plan to get more information about Shéshizú.'

Oliver was dumbstruck. He just looked at Li Chang. He was scared to even stay in Shéshizú any longer. What if the found the hamlet? But he gathered his courage if he would die fighting for the world, he died as a brave and fulfilled boy – But inside him, he was not brave at all.

'You're not alone in this war; I'm with you.' Oliver says.

'Thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate it.' Li Chang states.
