Chereads / My Hybrid System, Long forgotten. / Chapter 2 - The system.

Chapter 2 - The system.

In the woods, the search was led by the head officer as they rambled the whole forest.

"Search the trunks. That bastard mustn't have gone far!" The head officer commanded irritably as they searched the dark forest with furnace lamps.

On the other hand, Alec ran without looking back.

"They won't stop chasing until they get me. I have to run, I can not die like this." Alec cried inwardly as he ran deeper up the hills, panting uncontrollably.

However, while Alec was running he unconsciously stumbled over a tree root causing him to fall back down the hill.

"No!!" He screamed as he rolled down the hill.

"Arrr!!" Alec winced in pain when he subsequently stopped rolling.

As he observed the damages he bought from the fall, he heard far away chatterings of the police officers after him.

"Shit! They are nearby," Alec muttered in panic as he right away stood on his feet to continue running.

However, just as he took one step farther from the place he stood, he fell inside a deep dark hole.

"No!!!!!!" Alec screamed as he went down the deep dark hole. The last thing he saw was a mild red light before passing out.

******

Alec woke up alongside the road when he heard noises around him. Opening his eyes, he was greeted with the scorching light of the sun.

"Oh, it is morning already," he muttered with half-opened eyes but then his eyes widened when he recalled what happened to him.

Alec swiftly stood up from the place he lay, noticing he was on a bare floor.

Looking around the vicinity, his jaw dropped in bewilderment.

"Am I finally dead and now in heaven?" He mumbled in amazement.

The sight before him was breathtaking. The place was stuffed with tall buildings that should have been in a function to accommodate his complete village if it had been there.

Not solely that, he also sighted box-like objects speeding on the road, with people inside.

"W-Where am I? And what is this place?" Alec muttered in confusion.

He was supposed to be in Azalea not here. He tried asking a passer-by but after seeing the look on the person's face, he decided to leave the question to himself.

Not only that person gave him that look cause others equally had the same look on their faces when they stared at Alec.

"Why is everyone looking at me like some foreigner?" Alec ought to no longer understand the look on their faces.

Just then, his eyesight was blocked by a screen.

Ding!

[Yes] [No]

"What? Long forgotten? System!"Alec subconsciously exclaimed in astonishment. He has yet to recover from the shock of where he found himself, before seeing another surprise.

Alec was still in a dazed state, that he didn't realize how when he muttered a "Yes"

"Whoa!" Alec uttered in Astonishment.

It was like the old game people used to play back in his village just that the system part was excluded.

Alec looked at the tabs that were arranged at the top of the status screen. The tabs were arranged in horizontal rows.

So Accordingly even without doing anything and just by reading the tabs in his head, the screen automatically switched to the first tab which was the [Skill] tab.

[Skills…]

[0 skill points available]

[Skill Locked]

[Skill locked]

Alec noticed that beneath the [Skill]tab was another small tab so he decided to check it out. As usual, even without muttering a word and just by the mere thought of it, the system switched to the tab beneath.

[Skill Division…]

[BLOODLINES]

[ABILITIES]

[MIGHT]

[CHARM]

At the top of each skill division were smaller opened tabs widely displaying their content. The smaller tabs all had the same content in them. Alec was able to see it as it was already open.

The content of the smaller tabs was,

[Division class…]

Alec was surprised by all the things the system displayed before his eyes. Due to being surprised he didn't bother to check out the other tabs besides the [Skill] tab.

Never in his life had he seen such a thing, so that made him ponder whether everyone here sees the same thing.

To confirm if he was the only one seeing the screen, he decided to try ask people passing by to know they were seeing the screen as he was.

"Hello, sir, do you see any system message in front of your eyes?" Alec tried to ask a passerby but was utterly ignored. The person quickly walked away before he could even get to approach him.

He tried asking another person but also got the same result.

"Come on, why the fuck are you all treating me like this?!" Alec yelled out in frustration.

The look people gave was almost the same look given to a stinky madman.

This confirmed that he was the only one seeing the whatsoever system before his sight.

"But wait, do I stink so much that they couldn't even let me near them?" Alec muttered, sniffing his clothes.

Having gotten no response from people passing by there, Alec decided to cross to the other side of the road to see if he would get a reply.

However, he had only walked a few meters into the road before he got knocked down by one of the box-like objects moving on the road.

****

Moments later, Alec woke with throbbing pain all over his body.

He tried rising a little from where he lay but halted when he heard someone say,

"Don't bother moving kid, you got into an accident and you must be feeling sore all over."

Alec looked at where the voice came from and there he saw a bulky middle-aged man sitting on the chair at the side of the room, reading.

However, this middle-aged man had an immensely bulky body. His muscles were so thick that It made his clothes look like they were a size too small.

"Where am I?" Alec asked, slightly getting tensed up.

"Relax kid. You are safe now. You are at the hospital. You must be very stressed to walk in the middle of the road like that. But don't worry you are safe now," the man said in a comfortingly calm voice.

Alec relaxed a bit after hearing the man's word but not completely since he was still pondering how he got to the new place instead of his local village in Azalea.

"What is this place? I mean this town?" Alec asked.

"From your appearance and all, I can tell you are not from here. This is the base of the ancient city of Creston on earth," the man answered with an unfazed look.

"Okay, but you shouldn't have added earth, we all are on earth unless they are other planets besides earth," Alec said as he tried sitting rather than lying.

"You never know. There are many more planets beside earth," the man answered as stood up to pull out the bed rest for Alec to lean on.

Alec was shocked when the man said that. Right from his childhood days, he thought that earth was the only planet that exists but suddenly coming to know that other planets exist surprised him.

"So many things to know about this place, huh," Alec mumbled in frustration.

"Sorry for my manners, my name's Karg, and sitting there is my daughter Kimberley," Karg said pointing at the side of the chair he was seated on earlier.

"Come on Kim, say hi to our guest." Karg urged, noticing she still hadn't uncovered herself from her camouflage.

Saying that a girl of almost the same age as Alec suddenly appeared.

Alec was shocked for the second time. The girl just appeared all of a sudden and out of nowhere.

"Is this some kind of fantasy novel or what?" Alec muttered in a daze since he had read many books on sceneries like this.

"Oh, shut up, this is no fantasy story," the girl hissed irritably as she leaned her back on the chair with crossed legs.

"Kim, watch it. He is a patient. Be nice to him," Karg lightly scolded with a piercing gaze.

"Whatever," Kimberley shrugged in displeasure before walking out of the room.

Turning over to Alec, Karg said, "I'm sorry, she is always like that to strangers, coupled with the fact that she was pissed at how you carelessly ran into the middle of the road."

Alec snipped out of his daze on hearing that as his mind was still under a procession of what happened a while ago.

"Sure, no problem, it's all my fault. Name's Alec Phil," Alec said.

Ding!

[Your hunger grows]

[HP drops -1 HP every hour till you fill in your hunger]

[Health status:]

[HP: 3/7]

Upon seeing that message, Alec felt a part of his strength leave his body, thus weakling him more. And at the same time making his stomach rumble out loudly.

Hearing that, Karg immediately said,

"I guess you must be hungry now. Tell me what you wish to have for lunch. Vegetables or meat?"

Just as Alec was about to open his mouth to answer vegetable since it was what he usually gets to eat in Azalea, his system dropped a message in front of his eyes.

Ding!

[New Quest has been received]

[Eat meat only]

[Reward: +5 Xp]

Seeing that, Alec answered without hesitation.

"Meat is okay."

"Alright, let me go get it now," Karg replied before leaving the room

"Let's see what happens when I get to complete a quest," Alec muttered with a voice full of anticipation.
