Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 My Misfortune

This is not really what I wanted. I don't want to life like this. The events of that day changed my life drastically. I literally almost went crazy when I found out that my life would never return to normal. Maybe, if I had decided at that time to move abroad, this incident would never have happened. Only regret makes my sadness protracted.

That day it rained heavily. I didn't even get ready with a raincoat or anything because the weather forecast didn't say it was going to rain. Unfortunately, I brought a lot of reports that I had to present at the presentation that day.

Either because I was having bad luck or indeed at that time everything was destined for me, in an instant, everything fell apart just because of an event. The incident that happened in such a short time almost took my life.

A bag thief hit me from behind. I who lost my balance fell tumbling forward. Unfortunately, I fell onto the highway which was really busy. At that time, the pedestrian crossing light was still red, which meant that many vehicles were moving.

The first car managed to avoid me who was in front of it. The driver of the car managed to swerve to the right and climb the sidewalk. Unfortunately, just a few meters from the car there was a motorbike that was going very fast. This time, the motorcyclist could not slam the handlebars of his motorcycle. As a result, I, who was still in a slumped position, was hit by him.

"Brack..."

"Argh..."

I couldn't hold it in anymore because I felt excruciating pain in my body. The incident which was quite fast also made many people who were waiting for the traffic light scream hysterically.

I was already lying down and felt the rain falling on my body and my face could still see the body of the motorbike rider who hit me. His motorbike fell not far from my body but I saw the person lying quite far from me. I also knew that the person was seriously injured from the position he fell in and his body didn't move at all.

It didn't take long for my vision to blur. I don't know if it's because of the rain that is falling harder or because of the injuries I've experienced. Suddenly I feel tremendous drowsiness. Suddenly a thought crossed my head. I'm afraid that I will die. I am still young. I know if I close my eyes, my life will be over.

Everything I have worked so hard to build will be lost forever. Everything will mean nothing anymore. I don't want that to happen. I still have dreams that I haven't achieved yet. I still have a long way to go.

But fate said otherwise. My eyes closed on their own, even though I tried my best to keep them open.

"Damn it. I don't want it to end like this."

"…"

"Where am I? Why do I feel the wind gently brushing against me? This is very strange. I also heard the sound of crying which seemed quite loud," I mumbled.

I tried to open my eyes which were still heavy. Amazingly I made it. However, the result I wanted didn't seem as easy as I imagined. My vision is still blurry. I can only see a very bright light and also a completely white room. I also faintly heard the sound of sobbing.

I seem familiar with this voice. A voice that makes me really feel at ease. Unfortunately, I can't remember whose voice it was. The longer I tried to remember the owner of this voice, the more my head hurt.

Gradually my eyes became more focused than before. I can now see where I am. A pure white room with a large window directly to my right with the curtains being opened. There I saw a beautiful blue sky.

On the other hand, I saw that my left hand was infused. To my left, I saw a door leading to the room. I even saw an old woman with a very sad look being hugged tightly by an old man who looked very strong.

I looked back at myself, it seemed that I could faintly see so many bandages that wrapped my right leg which was hanging quite high. I also noticed that my hand was wrapped in a bandage thick enough that I couldn't move it, and I couldn't feel my left leg.

As soon as the two of them looked at each other with mine, the two them got up from where they were standing and then came straight toward me.

"Sob…"

The crying sound grew louder. I feel very sorry for the old woman.

"Are you able to see me, son? Your mom is here…," said the old woman who stroked my hair gently.

"Mother? This old woman is my mother? Why do I have absolutely no memory of her?" I said to myself.

I also saw the old man's expression suddenly change drastically when our eyes met each other. His originally fierce gaze suddenly began to dim. Tears came out of the corners of his eyes.

"I will call the doctor! Wait here! Make sure he stays conscious!" said the old man to the old woman. The old woman seemed to nod her head several times before her gaze returned to focus on me.

I heard another cry. This sound is really the sound of crying that calms me down. I am very familiar with this voice.

I saw a very beautiful girl approaching me. Without any warning, she immediately hugged me. I also saw that her face was wet with tears. It seemed that the girl had been crying for a long time.

"Sob…"

"Why did this unlucky thing happen to you, dear? I don't want to see you like this. This makes me very sad."

I still don't understand what's really going on here. Suddenly the team of doctors and the old man came back into the room where I was lying. A senior doctor examined me. He asked me a few sentences that I didn't even know how to respond to.

"Mister Kaley, how are you feeling now? Can you see me clearly?"

If only my right hand wasn't wrapped in that much bandage, I really wanted to punch him in the face. I really feel like scolding him. Not because I didn't feel something, but because the question was so ridiculous. Of course, I can see it clearly because my eyelids are very roughly opened by him and my eyes are shone by the very bright light of the flashlight.

I haven't answered yet, suddenly the doctor has decided everything as he pleases.

"Mister Kaley is well aware indeed. However, it would be better if we will conduct further examinations to find out the actual condition."

This time I couldn't hold back my anger. I wanted to scream at him as hard as I could. I also mustered all the strength in my left hand to tug at his collar. But all was in vain. Nothing happened to my body. It was as if I no longer had control over my own body.

Suddenly, my body shook violently. I didn't understand what was happening anymore because, at the same time, my vision blurred and became dark. It didn't take long for me to lose consciousness again.
