Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Second Chance?

I managed to open my eyes which felt very heavy. But now everything looks very different than before. This room is very quiet. No more sound that can I hear. But I saw something different. Not far from where I lay, right in the corner of the room, I saw a flower that was still very fresh. There seems to be someone who always replaces the flowers in the vase on a regular basis.

This isn't the first time I've opened my eyes again. Ever since the seizure I had, when I first woke up, now my whole body feels weak, I can't even move other parts of my body.

"Krieet…"

I heard the door to the room being moved. There I saw the girl again. This time she didn't even bother to gently caress my face.

"Today, what story do you want to read again, darl? Sorry that I left you alone here. I just came from the supermarket to buy you some fresh fruit," said the girl and ended with her sweet smile.

I could only stare at her wistfully. Besides, I couldn't give her a response except with the movement of my eyes. According to the story of the girl who seemed to come here often, I had been in this bed for twelve months.

The beautiful girl was named Lee Hyun-Ah. According to her confession, we have been close friends since childhood. She also claimed to have been my girlfriend for a year before the terrible accident happened. Even myself can't believe that a beautiful girl like her will be my girlfriend.

But, I don't care anymore. Even though some of the bandages are starting to disappear from my body. I still can't move some parts of my body. I still can't remember who I really am. The identity and memories and memories I had just disappeared. I don't even know what happened to take away my happiness and my life like this.

I faintly heard about my condition from the old man and woman who were talking to one of the senior doctors who treated me some time ago. He said that the chance of me recovering, as usual, was only ten percent, and the possibility of sudden death that could happen to me was very high. Everything the doctor said made me really have no zest for life anymore.

As a result of the accident that I experienced, I got a severe head injury that made me lose all my memories and I also experienced frequent experiences that made me lose almost all of my memory and often lost consciousness or had excruciating headaches. Even worse, I don't know who I am. The accident also resulted in an injury to my spine. It caused me to be unable to feel anything from the waist down.

It once crossed my mind, why don't I just die? Maybe that's a better way for me. I won't be too bored watching the same television shows, and maybe the people who always come and take care of me every day are no longer wasting time, energy, and my parents' money.

I don't know how long I have to lie down meaninglessly like this. However, suddenly one day I saw the faces of those old people, and the girl who always looked after me all the time suddenly brightened up instantly.

I could not understand what the old man said,

"You will soon be able to return to activities as before, son. I promise that day will come for you," he said.

Something looks weird there. I saw tears starting to roll down the face of the old woman who called herself my mother.

For the next twenty-four hours, I was ushered into a different room in a wheelchair. In the room, I saw empty tubes that were the size of an adult human.

"What is the use of this tool?" I asked curiously at the nurse who helped push the wheelchair. But nothing instead of getting the answer to the question I asked, the nurse just gave me a faint smile. The nurse kept pushing the wheelchair I was using without any other conversation there.

As I surrendered again, I saw us approaching a man who appeared to be wearing a white robe. The man with square-framed glasses, handsome and masculine looks bent slightly toward me.

"Welcome Mr. Kaley, to this facility. Introducing my name is Joseph Arfea. It seems that there are many questions that I want to say when I see the expression on your face," said the man with a meaningful smile.

I nodded my head. After nodding his head, the figure of a man who looked like a doctor took over the wheelchair I was using and he replaced the nurse who had been pushing me since I left my room.

"This facility will actually be a new revolution that will help humanity to avoid death"

I flinched when I heard his words. I tried to hold back my laughter because his words made no sense to me. I really want to know what her face looks like when she says that.

"Is this person joking?"

However, I only said it in my heart. I don't want to offend him. Actually, I seem interested in this topic of conversation.

"Can you explain in detail? I still don't understand," I said turning my still functioning upper body towards him so I could see a little of his face clearly.

I saw the man named Joseph smile again. Now, the smile was a little wider than before.

"Sorry if I'm going to speak a little presumptuously to you, Mr. Kaley. But do you know the condition your body is in now?"

I nodded my head and I explained to him how I knew my current state.

"So, you can already conclude that you can die someday, right? I know that you are now at a low in your own life. I didn't say I wanted you to give up. However, with this project, you will be able to start everything from scratch."

My eyes were completely blank as I listened to Joseph's explanation and also thought about what my fate would be if I didn't get a second chance to reorganize my life again. I just stared at the mysterious giant tubes with a feeling of deep disappointment because of the tragedy that turned my life upside down like this. If what he said is true, I'd be happy to do it. After all, this has nothing to lose for me. Rather than having to live forever with a permanently disabled body like this and I also don't want to give up because death will suddenly pick me up.

When Joseph noticed that the conversation had gone quiet, he opened his mouth again to tell me something.

"This project is called RE: LIFE. A project that has a meaning where when everything ends and starts again"
