Chapter 20 - Regret

Chapter 20

"If you want to step down too, that's your right. I don't want to have a fickle husband anymore, I don't have a stand like Mas Azzam!" I said.

Brother Winda also seemed to understand, he didn't chase anymore when I passed in front of him.

**

Like I promised yesterday, early in the morning I was getting ready to go to the airport. Sis Neti who accompanied me waiting for the taxi to arrive was surprised by my decision.

"Can't your decision be changed again, Dek. So we're separated, huh?" asked Sis Neti which sounded like a complaint to my ears

"Yes, Sis. I'm sick of Mas Azzam's attitude!" I answered.

"Yes, Derek. Brother was surprised to hear your story earlier. Alright, be careful on the road. Don't stop our communication here, okay. If there is anything you tell Big Brother!" said Kak Neti while hugging me.

The taxi I ordered has arrived, Sis Neti sadly let me go. When the taxi started to move, I looked towards Kak Winda's house.

Still tightly closed, surely they haven't woken up yet. What's more today is a holiday.

Slowly, the taxi started moving away taking me to the airport to fly to my parents' house.

I don't know how they will react when they see me coming.

---

As I had expected, my family was shocked to see my arrival at their house so early.

Mom looked at me questioningly. My heart was suddenly worried about Mama's health.

"Protect my mother, O Allah," I said to myself.

"Clara, what are you doing. Where's Azzam?" Mom asked.

His eyes stared at me unblinkingly. I turned to Papa who looked relaxed, unlike when I refused his desire to match me first.

"Clara just arrived, still tired. Let her rest first, Mama also rest, huh. You said you were tired too, right?" persuaded Papa.

I stared in amazement at my papa, why now he cares so much about me. Usually he is impatient if something bothers him.

"Yeah, Mom. I'm really tired. We'll talk later, okay?" I squatted in front of Mama.

He gently stroked my hair, then nodded. Papa took Mama to his room. After a while he came back out and talked to me on the terrace.

"Where's Mama, Pa. Are you asleep?" I asked just to be sure.

Papa nodded then before I complained to him, instead he apologized to me.

"I'm sorry Papa, Clara. Papa has been selfish forcing you to accept the match the other day. Papa is sorry!"

"I-I mean, Papa already knows everything. If it's Mas Azzam...." I hung up my sentence.

"Yes, Ra. It was your father-in-law who told the truth. However, Papa can't really blame them either. They also just found out about it, right?"

"Yes, Pa. Does Mama already know?" I asked curiously.

Papa shook his head, said Mama did not know this.

"Seeing you came home with all your clothes, did Azzam choose that woman?"

"No, Pa. I came home on my own initiative. Mas Azzam is greedy, he doesn't want to choose one of us. He said let it continue like this. I was angry and decided that I would give in. I don't want to live like that, Pa. !" I told the story while crying.

Papa hugged me lovingly, he stroked my hair slowly.

"Papa understands, later Papa will take care of everything. Papa regrets setting you up with Azzam. If Papa had known he already had a wife, of course he would..."

Papa's sentence was interrupted because we heard the sound of something falling behind the front door. I rushed in and screamed hysterically when I saw Mama's body lying on the floor.

"Papa! Mama passed out!" I shouted loudly.

Papa came in haste and immediately lifted Mama's body and laid her on the sofa.

"Mom, wake up, Mom!"

We tried to resuscitate Mama, but to no avail. Finally we decided to take Mama to the hospital.

Mama was immediately treated by a doctor in the emergency room. Papa and I waited nervously outside. I don't understand why Mama passed out in the living room.

"Could it be, Mama heard all of our conversation earlier, Pa. Mama pretended to be asleep and then quietly came out of her room to eavesdrop," I said to Papa who also thought like that.

I'm getting more and more worried about Mama's condition, she must have relapsed because she was shocked to hear what I was really going through.

I hope he is strong and returns to normal.

"Sister, how is my Mama?" I asked a nurse who had just come out of the emergency room.

"Still under examination by Doctor Imam Syahputra., Ma'am. Be patient, yes," answered the nurse in a friendly manner.

"Doctor Imam? Isn't it usually Doctor Abdi who takes care of my wife, Sus?" asked Papa in surprise.

"Doctor Abdi is attending a seminar in Bandung, sir. So while the one on duty here is Doctor Imam," the nurse replied and then excused herself to continue her work.

We had to wait anxiously again. While I feel I've heard the doctor's name.

"Is she the same person as him?" I thought.

Can't wait to see Doctor Imam's appearance. I was curious about his figure and soon my wish came true.

The doctor we were waiting for came out of the emergency room.

"How is my wife, Doc?"

"Alhamdulillah, your wife has come to her senses and now wants to meet you," answered Doctor Imam, taking off the mask he was wearing.

My heart stopped beating when I saw his face. It turned out that he really was.

"Umm!" call me unknowingly.

He saw me and smiled sweetly.

"Rara!"

"Mama, I'm sorry Clara," I said, crying.

I went in alternately with Papa who had entered to meet Mama first.

Mama didn't answer, her cries got louder and louder. My heart felt like it was being sliced into pieces seeing the sadness in my mother's eyes.

Again Mama was hospitalized because of my problem. I regretted making the decision to part with Mas Azzam. If only... ah, but it's not my fault!
