I followed Darius through the castle. I saw many maids and butlers throughout the castle. All called Darius "Master" wether or not he's the patriarch, I don't know.
"Krazis, we are going to see my father. He is the one who organized your rescue. Treat him with respect. If it was up to me I would never save a filthy human." Disdain could be heard in his voice once again. He seems to have something against humans.
"Yes, Sir Darius." Despite my rising anger, I left it at that. This man is my saviour after all, or at least his father is.
Soon we came upon two big red and black doors.
"Open the doors. The patriarch wishes to see me." Darius ordered two more guards. They both had black blades by there sides.
"Yes master Darius." Just like the other guards, these ones treated Darius with upmost respect. The two men glared at me before going to push the door open.
The doors were then opened. A large hall with a blood red throne lay at the end. A grey haired man with a golden cup sat at the throne.
This man, like Darius, had red eyes. He wore a red cape and nice black suit.
"Ah Darius you've returned!" A warm look could be seen in the man's eyes.
"Yes father. I've brought the child you speak off. I don't see how you got the council to allow a human here but I don't approve." It's clear Darius has something against humans and me.
'This smells of trouble. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that I'm alive and well.'
"I didn't ask for your permission son. Leave us now, I have much to talk about with this young one." The Patriarch ordered Darius away.
With a nod, Darius left the room.
"Come here, Krazis."
"…!" This man knew my name somehow? Could he read minds!
"Yes I can. Now come here and kneel." The Patriarch said with an amused expression.
It didn't take long for me to oblige. Soon I was five feet away on a knee.
"I am Shamus Blackrain of House Blackrain. As you know, my son Darius saved you from the wretched humans." at the mention of my situation my face grew solemn. My parents threw me away so easily. It was angering. I felt a sense of anger at my parents deep inside me
for abandoning me. But I never let my face show it.
"In return for your safety as you know, I've signed a contract of sorts with you. You serve the blackrains from this moment forward." Shamus' words had my whole attention.
"You will naturally go into the academy as a servant. Do well to serve us and you shall be treated well." The kind gaze he had for his son was nowhere to be found at this point. It's clear Shamus has the same disdain towards humans as his son.
"If you can get enough strength, you can climb your way up the ranks. Do well to make your future legion serve us well."
"Come now, child. We shall test your elements to see what you can do." With Shamus words I approached a large crystal ball. The ball came
out of a ring on the Patriarchs hand. Some sort of storage device it seems…
"This is a one time use elemental orb that can examine your aptitudes very closely. I will cut your finger and allow your blood to drip onto it." Shamus proclaimed loudly.
I walked forward. I could hear my heart beating in anticipation. I knew I had Death and Frost. The other elements I could have are demonic, shadow, mind, curse, and blood. Though I doubt I have a blood aptitude as I don't have a water aptitude.
It seemed like the whole world stopped as my blood dripped from my finger and fell.
At first, a cold, cold frost took over the ball. The whole room became freezing. It felt rigid and even the air was heavy. Despite the atmosphere I felt no cold. Or at-least I didn't feel pain from the cold.
'Huh, I can't even feel cold! I guess having an aptitude to something would be difficult if it harmed you so easily.'
Next a black and purple energy filled the ball. This was the death energy. It gave off a sickly feel and was menacing even to Shamus. But that wasn't all. A dark shadow was cast in the crystal ball. And an invisible force assaulted my mind.
"My lord. What do these elements mean. Am I talented?" I was truly curious. It seemed to be a lot more than the other children back in the human city. Despite this, I couldn't be sure wether I was talented or not.
"Unbelievable. You have such talent! It's a shame you weren't born a vampire, or else you could've soared to the moon. You have a strong death and frost aptitude along with mind and shadow!" Shamus' eyes were filled with vitality as he stared at me.
"You will be a promising Mage Krazis. Luckily for you, the royal academy will start up in a week. You will go then…"
