Next day at school. I took my skateboard this time, gliding along the corridor chewing gum. The skirt of my uniform puffed up a bit as I turned the skateboard around the corner to the schoolgirl's locker to put my books I didn't need at this hour.
I stopped my skateboard in front of the girls' restroom as soon as I heard laughter bubbling inside. Out of curiosity, I took my time to check in there. The chewing gum that I was chewing almost choked went into my stomach when I saw Shyla sitting in the corner of the toilet with slightly disheveled hair. There were three girls around him.
Whoa… bullying detected. As an anti-bullying cop, I have to act. This can't be left.
"Hey! What are you doing? Let her go!" I brought my skateboard to them.
The first to turn around was the black-haired girl. Oh, Trixie Marshall apparently. She folded her arms across her chest, her head tilted to one side looking at me. Her eyes scanned my appearance from the top of my head to the toe of my converse shoes.
"You must be Daphne Marie-Anne Evangeline Grimaldi Westlake. Luisa's second daughter after Christabel, hm?" Trixie gave me a lopsided smile.
"You know I have no small talk about getting to know you." Returning her crooked smile, I widened my angelic sweet smile, then approached Shyla by slapping Trixie's shoulder roughly. I reached out my hand to Shyla, helping her up again. She smoothed out her messy hair and uniform.
"Thanks, Daph," she whispered sincerely.
I directed my threatening gaze at Trixie who was now looking at us with her two minions.
"Why are you doing this to her?"
Trixie shrugged nonchalantly. "I call it a personal pleasure. Why? You don't like it?"
"Yeah, I don't like it. I don't like what you've done to her." I stepped forward, lifting my chin to challenge his eyes to meet mine.
"Okay, this is it, Princess Daphne. I won't bother your lousy new friends on one condition."
An eyebrow raised in skepticism. Daphne Lane is never afraid of threats. "Just say it."
"You know Justin Lancaster, don't you?"
