Since that meeting Vincent felt something strange. It was as if there was a cold chill surrounding him, making him shiver and uncomfortable. He had a feeling it had to do with Alice.
As soon as the meeting ended he immediately sneaked out to look for Alice and found that the woman was not in his room.
[ Where else could Alice go? ]
Vincent then remembers his fight with Jacob in the library. He went to find Alice there. Sure enough, that woman was in the library and she was… with Jacob.
[ This one bastard! ]
How long had they been alone in the library? Why didn't Alice just stay in her room?
As Vincent came closer, he could hear Alice's laughter. The sound of a cheerful and crisp laugh that could melt his heart into peace if only Jacob wasn't the cause of the laughter.
Had Alice always laughed happily with Jacob this week when he wasn't around? It's really annoying. Only Vincent should be able to make Alice laugh, as only he could make Renésmee laugh.
How could Jacob do this?
[ Is it possible that he… got the same vision as me? ]
It could happen. Jacob had made an exception, he was rigging history. The man somehow had a vision of Renésmee even after the imprint had already appeared on Vincent's hand. Jacob became a gap between him and Renésmee, something that shouldn't have happened.
Jacob notices Vincent's presence. He didn't want to bother too much but over time Vincent's ugly face ruined Jacob's beautiful view.
[ If he just wanted to stand still, he should have done it somewhere else out of my sight. ]
The two then found themselves in each other, staring at each other with irritation.
If what Vincent wanted was Jacob's attention then he had it. Even Alice seemed to have been knocked out of his sight. Jacob was more interested in eye contact with Vincent.
The neglected Alice searches for the reason Jacob stopped being attracted to her. She followed Jacob's gaze and realized Vincent was far behind her.
Alice had glanced at him, there was no way Vincent would still want to look at Jacob. He was more interested in seeing Alice's face. Vincent shoots his smile naturally.
[ Oh? Did he just smile? ]
Alice immediately turned and looked at Jacob, both confused by Vincent's sudden smile. Will there be storms this summer?
Thx! Vincent felt a spear pierce his heart. How could Alice ignore him like this? The woman should have greeted him or said something to him.
Vincent hardened his heart and stepped closer to Alice and Jacob who were even quieter than before. There was an urge in Vincent to pull Alice in and lock her up in his room for him to enjoy alone. Alice had a responsibility to heal his wounded heart.
However, instead of picking up Alice, he said to Jacob, "I need to talk to you."
Jacob didn't even look up and pretended to be reading a book. Alice followed in the behavior of the man in front of her and fell silent. Alice knew that Vincent was not referring to her.
"It's about Renésmee—"
Jacob immediately stood up when the name was called, "Okay. Let's talk!"
"Not here," Vincent didn't want to involve Alice in case his conversation with Jacob would end in a fight. He didn't want her to get hurt again.
Jacob understood and followed Vincent out to the foyer.
"I'll be right back," Jacob said to Alice before he left.
Tsk, Vincent's ears itching to hear Jacob's promise to Alice. As he walked out he thought, was there a way to keep Jacob from coming back? Vincent might have to give Jacob an assignment or something to make him leave or should he get rid of Jacob?
He could have done the last option but there would be a lot of risks and explanations that Vincent had to give to the other pack members.
Sitting alone in the library with Alice, this wasn't like a sin or betrayal of the group. Jacob just… just disturbed Vincent's peace, like he used to. Like when the two of them were still chasing Renésmee.
"What do you want to talk about?" Jacob asked quickly as if he couldn't wait to get back.
They were quite far from the library and there was no one around. They were currently in the east wing, whereas the other should be in the west wing of the castle at the training ground. No one will hear right?
"Where were you when Nessy disappeared?" asked Vincent.
Jacob choked. To think that Vincent would ask where he was then. Did Vincent know that he was with Nessy that day? Will he blame him?
"Where do you think I should be?" Jacob replied with the safest answer he knew.
Jacob took no room in the castle, he built a hut on the south side and lived there. Whereas Renésmee was supposed to be in her room that day.
Vincent knew the fact very well because Nessy had complained of not feeling well since the night before. He himself asked Nessy to stay in his room. The last time Vincent saw her was when he was delivering breakfast for Nessy that morning. Vincent had no idea that it would be the last time he saw Renésmee.
Although his heart now felt cold and empty about Renésmee, the image of that woman still vaguely flashed through Vincent's mind. If only…
"...You were with her that day," it slipped out from Vincent's mouth like a fact.
[So.. you already knew. Huh? I see. ]
Jacob was ready to accept all the consequences.
Vincent must have wanted to hit him or maybe kill him. He's really useless. Renésmee must have thought so too, that's why she chose Vincent instead. But it wasn't anger, curse or swear that came out of Vincent's mouth the next. That man…
He still had no clue what Jacob had done or even thinking about.
"...Does your heart really feel empty? Shouldn't you feel sorry, even just a little… Don't you want to look for her? Even though she's not your mate, don't you feel the urge to find her? Couldn't you just imagine you were with Nessy at that time, so you're responsible to find her?"
His question was bizarre. First Vincent sounds like he knows it, but what is actually he wants to say? Why did he ask like that? Looking at Vincent's composure, Jacob can only think that Vincent doesn't know anything. Should he just gets along with him…
"You're right. I wish I was with her…"
Vincent acts nonchalantly. Jacob can say whatever he wants. He just wants to send Jacob away from Alice's side by all means. "So… how do you plan to find Renesmee?"
