"Renésmee disappeared?"
"Yeah," this news shouldn't have been spread to others, but Argus Richards had to know about this so he could give Bella and Jacob a proper explanation.
Bella explained to her father about Vincent's imprint that passed from his left hand to his right hand. Then he also explained that Vincent and Jacob had lost touch with Renésmee. The two men were unable to track down Renésmee.
"Is Vincent all right?" Argus asked carefully.
"Vincent is fine, as I explained. You can see for yourself." Bella tilted her head to point at Jacob.
Oh, right. They're on two pennies, I mean three—the same thing.
"Is something like this possible, father?" Bella took Argus' hand and looked at the imprint on his father's hand. Even though her mother had been gone a long time, the mark was still on his father's right hand.
The imprint on Argus's hand didn't even fade at all.
Argus understood the meaning of his daughter's question. He tries to examine the case experienced by Vincent with his reason and experience. Not many werewolves can survive after their partner is gone.
"I just heard of such a case. You young people always come up with strange cases. Even if Renésmee is gone, the imprint is impossible to change."
That's absolute. Argus was sure because he experienced it himself. Argus also happens to have two members in the pack who suffer the same fate. They lost their partner but they survived, they MUST survive.
"You haven't undergone any changes, have you?"
"Apart from feeling empty… I don't think anything has changed."
Jacob's imprint was still in place, not moving or missing. Because the imprint mark cannot be removed, let alone canceled. If he could then Jacob wouldn't have to go through suffering every time Renésmee's feelings for Vincent moved.
In fact, Jacob felt lighter now. He didn't need to feel stabbed every time and hide himself who was weak and helpless because of all that suffering.
Maybe this was the Goddess' way of releasing Jacob from his suffering.
Ah, what's on his mind right now?
[ Renésmee disappeared right in your arms and you dare to feel grateful that she disappeared? Sober yourself up, Jacob. ]
Argus gripped Jacob's shoulders as if to channel strength into him. It was as if this middle-aged man knew Jacob's suffering was more severe than what he had experienced after losing his partner.
"Don't blame yourself, kid."
I'll find out if there is a similar case that has happened. I hope… you guys find Renésmee soon." That hope sounded increasingly faint when spoken by Argus Richards.
Because Jacob knew everyone in Seth Valley would hope for the opposite.
"Thanks for the explanation. I will return to the Castle." Jacob turned from Argus to Bella, he had no plans to stay any longer at the Richards Mansion.
Bella didn't say anything but Jacob understood the hint that the woman would stay in her father's lair a little longer. Incidentally, Jacob wasn't interested in bringing Bella with him either. Jacob left Bella without hesitation.
As soon as Jacob made sure he was out of the Pack Richards border, Bella immediately rushed into Argus' arms.
"Father… please tell me that there is a possibility that Renésmee is dead."
Agus smiled lovingly. "It can't be helped. If Vincent couldn't detect the presence of the half-vampire woman, the meaning was obvious. He's already halfway to death."
"That's not enough. I want her to really come to her death. She can't come back."
Oh, look who has this great persistence. Isabella was indeed the daughter of Argus. She is the reason Argus survives in this cruel world.
"Of course. That must be confirmed dear. I'll send some people to look for that half-vampire woman and you… stay for lunch. There are many things I want to tell you, My daughter."
"Sure, Father."
…
At Gregory Castle
Alice did not dare to leave her room. She didn't even notice that she skipped lunch until her stomach growled. Before long there was a knock on Alice's bedroom door which seemed to respond to her stomach growling.
"Miss..."
Not many people visited her room. Just Jacob, Watson and Vincent. After a while Alice was able to recognize her visitors from the way they were knocking.
Jacob was the kind of person who would knock without a word and then wait for the door to open. Watson on the other hand would knock impatiently and Vincent was the worst type. He wouldn't knock and just barged in at will.
Alice had to rebuke the big bad wolf. She may be the host but she can't enter the girls' guest room at will. Even though Alice wasn't sure Vincent would received her rebuke, she still had to talk about it.
Alice opened the door and a teen-wolf stood with a tray in her hands. he said,
"Miss, Lord Gregory asked me to bring you lunch."
"Um, who is Lord Gregory?" Alice had just heard someone call like that.
The teen-wolf looked up slightly due to Alice's confusion, he was confused for a moment then immediately looked down again when his gaze met Alice's. He had been warned not to look at Alice in any way.
Not only this poor young man but all the teen-wolf who devoted themselves within the castle had been given a direct warning by Vincent. If his actions today were discovered by Vincent then he must stop dreaming of joining the Pack.
"You?" Alice recognized this young man, the one who sent him the chair last week.
"I mean Lord Vincent Gregory," the teen-wolf immediately completed his call to clarify and thrust the tray into Alice's hand.
"Oh?" Alice just found out Vincent's last name was Gregory. What made the big bad wolf send her lunch?
The teen-wolf only hoped that Alice would receive her lunch tray soon so he could resign. Vincent was probably waiting for the report. But instead of accepting her lunch, Alice became even more curious about the kind-hearted young man in front of her.
"What's your name?"
"That… I shouldn't have spoken to you, Miss. Please, just accept your lunch."
[ Eh! Is he not talking to me right now? ]
