SINN
From that day, Ceru had never asked about Carolina ever again. we watched her, Silas and I looked for any changes but there were none. She was still the hyperactive loner she always was. It had been months and today was her seventh birthday. Still she showed no signs of magic and still appeared unaffected by this. The preparations were done and all that was left that was left was the guest of honor. It was a small celebration, A family lunch followed by entertainment and gift opening. Only family was invited. It wasn't because we did not want to make it big, it was because mother did not want anyone to dampen her little girl's mood. Everyone sat at the table and the music started playing. Mother walked down the stairs with Father followed by the elders of our family and lastly Lexus and Ceru. She had a big smile on her face, excited for her big day. It was a hassle for Lexus to make her cousin walk down the stairs elegantly and finally Ceru broke free and ran down the rest of the way.
Her small body slammed into mine and she squealed in delight. "Sinn, don't I look like a princess?" she asked me. Silas chuckled and agreed with her, "oh yes, like a very beautiful princess." She clapped in delight, "I bet I look as pretty as princess Carolina," Everyone froze and mother sent my brother and I a murderous glare. She seemed to notice the tension but refused to acknowledge it. When we all sat around the table we sang her a happy birthday and the chatter was pleasant until Maria opened her mouth. "Aunt Kesia, have you decided which one of us will succeed you since Ceru here has no magic?" For the second time today everyone froze, my gaze went to my little sister who paid no attention to what was happening. "Maria, we will not speak of this, not today." The girl snickered, "why?" "why should we not have this conversation, you know as well as everyone else your daughter is without magic and such...such an abomination cannot be allowed to take the throne. She already stains our bloodline by whatever condition she has it had been four years and she still has no magic!"
The lights above us began to flicker as the room started to rumble slightly. Angering the queen was a death wish. Father tried to calm her down but it was futile when we saw the color her eyes had taken. To say I was furious was more than an understatement. Rage coursed through my veins and burned like a hot iron. Keeping myself in check was best for everyone because I would collapse this entire room if I let it get out of hand. Silas was another case altogether. The anger and urge to kill was so thick coming from him that it was making the air heavier by the second. My mother, brother and I were restraining ourselves only because she was here but if that was not the case the end result would be different. The only cool headed person was my father. I caught movement in the corner of my eye. She had not been ignoring it, she had been hiding the fact that she was crying. Undoubtedly, Silas saw this as well. All of the sudden Maria's body lurched backwards. She seemed to be frozen but she was screaming like a dying animal. "Silas, stop that." My father told him but he looked at him and shook his head, "I'm not the one doing that."
Lesions formed on her skin and appeared to boil as though the blood and flesh underneath was trying to burst out. Everyone was alarmed but no one admitted to the act. Maria yelled in agony and was silenced by the sound of choking on her own blood. When her screams ceased, as quickly as they started, she was dead. There was no mistaking it. Silence settled around the table. "What have you done Sinn?" my aunt asked me. I shook my head vigorously, "It was not me," Everyone stared yelling accusations at it other unsure of who the culprit really was; while my sister just sad there her lips moving but no audible sound coming from them. She did this alot when she was sad, so I brushed it off. "Enough!" my mother shouted using her ruler's voice, and everyone submitted at once. "No one will speak of this for the rest of the day," "Guards!" she yelled and they appeared almost instantly. "Looks of fear spread across their faces as they looked at the body before them. "Take her away,"
The moment the guards left, everyone continued eating in silence and that's when it began. Lexus was the first to drop. Her body started to convulse. It did not take much time for everyone else to follow suit. When it hit me I lurched forward. It felt like acid was running through my entire body. In all my life I had never felt such agonizing pain. My gaze went to my sister who was frozen in terror. She was the only one unaffected by whatever was happening. This must be what that poison felt like. I was in too much pain to notice what was happening at first.
There were other people in the room, people cloaked in black robes. There were a dozen, maybe more and they started to approach each member of my family. Jean was the first they got to. His head was held back and was into much pain to comprehend whatever was happening to him. The person holding his head took a knife and in one swift motion, slit his throat from ear to ear. Jean's screams were replaced my the sound of his blood gurgling and within seconds his body was dropped and left to die. The cloaked figures repeated this with every member of our family. Ceru was by my and Silas' side crying. "Brother, what's happening why are the bad people hurting us?" The pain I was experiencing rendered me unable to speak. "Protect her," a voice said inside my head, one that sounded alien. As soon as the voice commanded me some of my power that had been inhibited returned and I opened a portal. Ceru saw this and screamed in defiance. "I'm not going Sinn, Silas tell him!" she screamed but I summoned a shadow and it came out of the gateway. The Shadow nodded at me in acknowledgement and picked her up. She yelled and struggled to get to her brothers but she was too small to do anything. Silas and I looked at her, "we love you Ceru."
As she disappeared to wherever I had sent her the power left me. I was back to the hellish reality before me. My vision zeroed in on my mother who was crying over a dead body, and that body was my father's. Not a moment later, she too was slaughtered. In the end, only Silas and I were left. The man who killed my mother came and took my brother from my grip. I started to yell profanities, begging the voice to lend me power one last time so I could save my little brother. "Until we meet again, brother, " were his last words before they slit his throat. His body was thrown to me as I used the little energy I had to cradle him as he drew his last breaths. The group stared at me, as I stared at the corpses of those I had grown up with. Was this the end of the royal family? The end of our bloodline? The person who stood before me pulled the hood of her cloak down. For lack of a better word I was shocked. She was the last person on this earth you could suspect. "why?" I managed to croak out. She gave me a twisted smile and stabbed me right through the heart. The others chanted spell and the whole room maybe even the whole palace lit up.
They started to disappear one by one until the very last was gone. Everyone and everything around me was consumed by the raging fire. As I sat there, holding on to my brothers corpse as it all burned and began to cave in, I was sure of one thing. This was not the end. I started to drift in and out of consciousness and it was then that I saw a figures standing before me. He looked so familiar but so foreign at the same time. A ghost of a smile played on his lips, "Do not be disheartened Sinnius, for this is not the end. I cannot save all of them but I can save you and your brother. however, you will not be on earth but Tartarus for a little while. Do you accept?" I looked at Silas, and without hesitation i nodded. "Wonderful."

I watched in satisfaction as the royal palace burned and caved in. The fire raged until all that was left in it's wake were glowing embers and black ash. Step one was complete now nothing stood in my way. It was a shame though, I fancied Sinn but all is fair in love and war. "Your grace," one of my men said making me turn from the glorious sight. "Word will spread soon, we ought to leave." He was right, I nodded and walked ahead of him. Finally, after all this time, they were all dead. A new era dawned on the witch society.
