"Gosh... awesome." Cameron said with a tense face as if he had just drunk a super disgusting drink.
"You're right Elena," Stanton gave Elena a smile. "The advisors from the Johanson Group will come here according to what I tell you both, and I want you to cooperate and bring them here," Stanton insisted.
"You ordered us to work together to bring them here even though only one of us will be chosen to handle the case?" Cameron seemed impatient to argue with Stanton. Seen from the style of speech that sounds like a form of protest.
"Of course. And Elizabeth Johanson herself will choose one of you. So can you afford it?"
Now Cameron and Elena exchanged wary glances, both really thinking the same thing. But considering this was all an interesting game that would prove who was more capable and stronger, so with determination they both turned to Stanton and said, "of course." together.
Stanton smiled after hearing Elena and Cameron's statement.
"Well, I know you will all be able to do this and my hopes and the firm's are very high in you both."
Elena and Cameron nodded and stood when they sensed that Stanton had finished talking about the business they had agreed upon. But before they turned to go to their respective rooms, Elena could clearly hear Stanton telling Cameron not to forget about playing tennis the day before their meeting with the Johanson Group.
Obviously Elena was trying not to be bothered by the fact that Cameron had already worked a year ahead of her and the man did have some perks with the access he did have. One of them is to become a member of a tennis club in a place that only men can enter.
"Well, let's go back to the room." Cameron broke Elena's daydream.
Cameron is again setting a new record again. A close record with a boss who has something in common with him. As she entered her room Elena ignored Cameron's gentle tap on her shoulder.
That's not an encouraging pat. It was just a slap in the face that he had to be realistic that men are often one step ahead of women.
Elena snorted as she entered her room, not going to pay attention to Cameron just this once. The most important thing for him now was to come up with a plan to bring in the Elizabeth Group's general counsel as well as private lawyers, which should be even more brilliant than Cameron's plan.
But for some reason Elena was very distracted and couldn't concentrate at all. She glanced at Cameron's room and found the man sitting behind his desk. Elena was sure that what Cameron was doing now was the same as her, checking incoming e-mails and also making plans for next week. There was a moment's pause while Elena waited with an uneasy feeling. Then ...
"You found something?" Elena's lips moved silently.
Cameron's eyes widened wildly as he read what he had just discovered. Something he had wanted to know for a long time and he needed extra patience to get it all. Cameron squeezed his chest as if he was having a heart attack then grabbed the phone on his desk and hurriedly called someone.
"What did you find, Cameron?" Elena moved her lips again. Silently but suddenly feeling a thousand times more anxious than usual. She checked the e-mails that came into his computer one more time and found nothing that felt like making him want to squeeze his chest or press his eyes with his two fingers.
For a moment it occurred to Elena to dash off into Cameron's study and question the man like a suspect. But Elena's logic again says that she must immediately prepare for next week.
"Oh shit. Why do I care what Cameron does." This time Elena spoke instead of just moving her lips.
Calling a golf club was his first plan of the day. She had forgotten about lunch because she was too busy at work and was grateful that she had forgotten a little about what she had just seen about Cameron.
"Elena…" Patricia whispered from behind the door. The secretary just stuck his head out with a wary face.
"Yes?" Elena looked up.
"Can I come in?"
Elena considered whether or not she could let Patricia in. The problem was, at this hour, she wasn't in the mood to continue the conversation she interrupted earlier this morning about the other Harvard guy Patrcia wanted to meet.
But considering Patricia was close enough to Cameron's private secretary made Elena finally nod because maybe Patricia would pass on information about Cameron or anything else that might refresh her mind.
"Good." Patricia said with sparkling eyes and a wide smile.
Elena pointed to a pile of her work as well as what she was working on on her computer screen. That was enough to get Patricia to get straight to the point.
"The man I want to introduce you to seems to know Cameron," Patricia said quietly.
At that moment Elena wanted to curse and quickly shoo Patricia away. Obviously he didn't want to hear that at all.
Elena forced a smile trying to respond very well to what Patricia said. oh my god am i a gemini? Or Capricorn?
"Are they class mates? It never occurred to me that they would know each other," Elena spoke up.
Patricia nodded her head. "I really didn't expect Harvard to have two hot guys in the same batch at the same time,"
"What did you say?" Elena felt a little surprised when she heard Patricia say the word sexy so clearly.
"Didn't you notice?" Patricia asked back.
"Realized what?"
"That Cameron is a man of above-average perfection. Smart, tall, charming and sexy."
"Ow..." Elena said.
The image of Cameron the perfect sexy body suddenly danced in Elena's mind. The broad chest with prominent muscles will surely make women go crazy. But wait, that woman is not her. Definitely not Elena Smith because she never said that and even if she admitted it she would never say it to anyone.
"Or maybe you're already in a relationship with Cameron so—"
"Pat..." Elena cut in quickly. She didn't want people around her to misinterpret the fake closeness she had with Cameron over the years.
Patricia laughed softly. "All right, all right. Then you don't mind at all if I give your number to my friend? Or should I wait for your approval?"
"The second option seems more interesting. I chose that one," said Elena.
"Alright Ms. Smith. Please let me know as soon as the man is waiting at Cameron's table,"
"WHAT?!"
