Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 - GET READY

The alarm clock went off at exactly 04.30 a.m. Elena reached for the nightstand with her still sleepy hand and rubbed the surface to turn off the alarm clock, which she found very annoying.

Elena jumped out of bed, determined to complete her morning routine. Elena had always assumed that men had an easy and simple life as well. There's no need to dress up, straighten her hair or make it a little curly at the bottom, shave her legs, or visit a salon to have her nails done. People who are sluggish.

Elena noticed that her male coworker always wore designer suits and modern hairstyles, and she was convinced that the hairstyles required specific products that cost the same as the three bottles of shampoo she used.

Elena, a litigation attorney who works for one of Washington, DC's three most prominent law firms, has more than enough money to make her appearance more appealing. And it is a general rule to always present the best appearance in his work.

The sun shone brightly in the morning, revealing a soft and soothing golden glow. Elena smiled to herself as she walked through the lobby of the building where she worked, taking the elevator to the 35th floor, where her office and the man's office were located. Elena's excitement grew as the elevator took her upstairs, and it only took a moment for the elevator doors to reopen, revealing the still dark office corridor.

Elena smiled again as she walked confidently down the corridor. Elena had to pass through the office of the man she found annoying before reaching her own room.

CAMERON JONES

Elena's adrenaline spiked at the mention of his name, her heart racing as if racing to do something that would allow her to beat Cameron.

Wait.

Elena's heart sank when she noticed Cameron's room light was turned on. How is that possible? That man could never go before her again.

"Good morning, Elena."

Cameron greeted Elena once more. "'Good morning,' I said."

A charming man.

"Good morning, Cam," Elena replied with the sarcastic tone she only used on Cameron.

"Late?" smirked Cameron. He'd already removed his coat from his work chair and was now asking Elena about it while rolling up his sleeves to his elbows.

"By the way, I'm never late until the secretaries and rest of the team arrive in two hours." Elena replied and walked away, leaving Cameron staring at her in disgust.

Gotcha. Elena entered her study and began working as usual. She investigates the cases she will handle further, analyzes data, drafts arguments, and examines incoming documents from assistant public prosecutors regarding cases of unilateral dismissal of employees by the son of a chief prosecutor.

Elena glanced over at Cameron's office every now and then, and found Cameron just as busy. Elena wondered who in this modern era is still looking for information from thick books that can be used to protect themselves from enemy attacks when you throw them right in the face. Cameron is the correct answer.

"So, what's your new record?"

Elena looked up again when the irritating voice rang out in her ears. It had only been three hours since her annoyance with Cameron in the corridor this morning, and the man was now bothering her right in her study. How could he have missed people coming in? Elena poked one of her ears with her index finger.

"You're snooping around? How long have you been working here?"

"I'm not Swiper the thief," Cameron clarified.

"Ah ..."

"Don't forget about the meeting with Stanton this afternoon at 11:00 a.m. Prepare your best evidence, or I'll preside over the trial later."

Elena burst out laughing. She took a sip of her coffee before responding to Cameron's action. "Don't expect me to give in to you despite the fact that you work a year ahead of me," Elena explained later.

"Just show me, Ms. Smith." Cameron then smiled. Sweet.

"I'll see you later this afternoon, Cam." Elena quickly regained control. Don't let Cameron notice his expression right now. "By the way, I appreciate you reminding me." Elena returned Cameron's smile with a seductive smile of her own.

Yes!! One of them is the shrimp brain man. Elena kept her sweet smile until Cameron left and went behind the door, where she was replaced by Patricia, her personal secretary.

"Ms. Smith, stop wasting timesheets. Or else I'll be able to turn your stack of timesheets into a book the size of Dan Brown's."

"Haha. I'll add something to that "Elena laughed as she drew another stack of timesheets from her desk drawer. "You could even create a complete set of my timesheets, similar to the Harry Potter series."

"Also, you don't want to date?" Patricia inquired, her face befuddled. Elena was always arriving early in the morning and frequently arriving late at night, if at all.

Elena asked again, "Date?"

"You must date in order to mentally stabilize."

Elena laughed again when she heard Patricia say, "For God's sake, Pat. I'm fine." "I'm not that sad in terms of love," she says.

"If you want, I can introduce you to someone who might be a good match for you."

Elena put down the file she was holding and focused her attention on Patricia. "Tell me about that guy," Elena inquired.

"He works in the same field as you."
