As he approached Sam's ward, everything the doctor said to him flashed through his mind before he opened the door and stepped in. As he moved closer to her bed, he noticed that she had become paler and her hair was packed up in a messy bun, with baby hairs scattered on her face. Her lips had become patched with cracks on them and her eyes had eyebags.
She had to suffer this much just because of him. She already suffered enough, and being a casualty of war right now wasn't something he needed to add to his bucket list. He was the only one who had the right to torture her and no one else. Lung cancer? Asthma? He scoffed at the idea of those things happening to her.
