Chapter 9 - In Which, The Long Awaited Fight Begins.

The Ruler's Sync-gram post went viral. My grinning face has become the icon of North Garan. "The lunatic prodigy who defeated 4 Rulers altogether and killed one in a cold hearted, merciless fashion." Is what they described me as.

The Ruler's synch-gram account is not public. It's private only to those who join as one of the Rulers can see their posts. Therefore, Kota and Inu don't know this, my roommates don't know this. Only me, Jae-ha and other Rulers know about this news.

I'm expecting many people to question this battle because top 21 and top 107 is quite a large difference. Especially to those who don't know me.

Hahaha! This is going to be soooooo…. Much…. Fun! I can't wait. I just can't WAIT!

Intrusive thought: Get a hold of yourself Kenma.

Yeah yeah. I know what I'm doing. This will be fun! I will be having fun! He also seems like a kind guy! Maybe I could be friends with him! Yeah! I'll do that! We will be great friends! Hahaha!

"Kenma-kun." Kota interrupted. "You seem kinda dozed off. Are you okay?"

"Hmm? Yeah I'm alright."

It's currently 7.30 AM and it's supposed to be History class, but the teacher is late. The teacher's name is Tanaka. We call him Mr. Tanaka. He is beloved by many girls because of his very muscular body and boys hate him because of that. I heard rumors of him being a member of a Yakuza.

I should be careful and not flip my personality switch when I'm around him. I know I'm strong but if he is what people said he is, then he is much more precarious than me. Kota showed me his picture when I walked to class. Kota said Mr. Tanaka is kind and gentle and his height reaches 190 cm.

(AN: For y'all who's still using the imperial unit he's 6ft 2.)

He is bald and has an intimidating face, but I guess I shouldn't judge people by their appearances.

Suddenly the door flinged right open and the exhausted Mr. Tanaka appeared.

"*Huff* *huff* Ah… Umm. Sorry, I was late. The traffic is jammed. Anyways…" He moved into the class and eyed me for a second, but soon acted naturally. "SO! Umm… We are going to learn the history of East Korea, the country we are living in right now. Uh… I see a new face here." He sits down and reads the student list. "Kenma! Right?" He said as he looked me in the eyes.

"Yes!" I replied.

"Alright since you're new here you probably haven't learned the previous chapters. I'm gonna give you a brief summary first alright." He then went to the whiteboard, grabbed a marker, and drew some sort of an island. "East Korea." He said as he pressed his finger on the drawn map. "Located right on the side of South and North Korea. Larger than both of them, size wise but has less population due to the increasing criminal rate.

And… And even though it's called East Korea, the country Japan owns us in an unlawful scheme. The East Korea government follows the rules and orders from Japan, even though it's an independent country. It's weird and all but it's quite simple to understand, if you know the history. So, in 1918, East Korea was invaded by Japan and was soon easily conquered. Then, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 1945 happened and destroyed Japan in terms of both quality and quantity. They retreated their troops from South East Asia and returned to their home country. Except the Japanese troops from East Korea. The troops of East Korea still remained because they were forgotten by the Japanese government.

And then in 1950, American soldiers arrived in East Korea to defeat the Japanese, but they discovered that the Japanese troops who still remained in East Korea were accepted by the natives and swore an undying oath that they will not hold a weapon up against them.

Then, the American soldiers taught these people English language cuz of 'Cultural Assimilation' Yeah they tried to induce the minds of the Japanese troops and native East Koreans to think that American culture is superior. They succeeded which leads us now to talk in English while having our name mixed out of Japanese and Korean. Our culture has Americans, Japanese, and Koreans mixed all together. There's that.

Got it?" Mr Tanaka finished talking and looked at me.

"Yup!" I cheerfully said.

I remember everything I see and hear. Hence the reason I'm not struggling in class. Simple tasks like these are a piece of cake for me. If not for the fact that my brain has a major setback, I would be regarded as an ultimate human.

"Great! Moving on now…" And the class moved on as usual.

As the teacher explains a new subject material and my brain register everything automatically, I ponder in my own dimension,

'That lesson… I never learned about it. However, it's weird to know it just now. It's about my home country and… I felt weird not knowing the subject. It's like learning something new about something which you had already familiarized yourself with.

Hah… I have so much to learn. Hahaha.

Can't wait for recess.'

My fiery spirit to learn something new every second is something I'm very proud of. This is one of the factors I became who I am today and it's incredible to think about.

I sense that I have a much greater purpose to this world. Jae-ha will be my next stepping stone and there is nothing the world is gonna do about it.

*RING!*

The recess bell rings signifying recess break. I look to my right and see the ignorant Kota wearing a pair of earbuds, listening to whatever the hell. I look behind me and Inu is reading her manga while trying to glance at me using secretive and unapproachable methods. It doesn't go unnoticed to me though.

I nudged Kota's shoulder.

"Hey… Kota-kun. May I ask you something?"

"Hmm? What is it?" He took off an earbud and looked at me.

"Since you are much more knowledgeable about the school and their- I don't know- per see; history, I suppose." He glanced at me confused and I opened my mouth again, "You know what? Let's skip to the point. Do you have any footage of a student named Jae-ha fighting?"

"That Sasin? Why?" Then, he widened his eyes, "No! No! You're not going to-

"Yup I am." I grinned like a sadist.

"Oh gee. Oh lord… You're going to fight that psychopath." Kota flipped his blonde hair to the back. "Yo- you're kidding… Right?"

"HAHAHAHAHA! NO I AM N-

"Ok! Ok! Stop shouting. Listen!" He leaned closer. "I got like one footage and it's private. All other public footage was gone. Erased. I only got this footage cuz I personally recorded it. And… If I get caught by the man Jae-ha himself, I don't think I'll be able to make it out alive." He handed me his phone, "Here." As soon as I grabbed it, he tightened his grip, "Promise to keep it a secret?"

"I promise." I grinned.

This phone has everything I- wait.

"Umm… Can you open the file first- I don't kno-

"Oh yeah! Forgot." He knocked his head and grabbed the phone. He taps and swipes and finds the video. "Here." He handed me the phone back.

"Thanks. I owe you a lot, Kota."

Finally, I went straight to the toilet to observe Jae-ha's fight. I noticed a minor detail that Kota's and Inu's phones were vastly more primitive than the Ruler phone. The Ruler phone… I'm currently bringing it and it's just… Unique.

As I walk toward the toilet, I compare Kota's phone to the Ruler phone.

There are significant differences and it's just mindblowing. The Ruler phone has no glass screen, it's all just the same material as the bezel and the back, I didn't know nor have I touched this material before. It's just bizarre! It's like some sort of slippery yet rubbery glass and that same material covered the phone in whole. Kota's phone doesn't even remotely compare to the Ruler phone's graphics and smooth imagery.

There is no headphone jack. There's no charging plug. There is no camera. Only smooth edges. It's basically a rectangle box of pure magical machinery.

Now, what I'm concerned about is if this Ruler phone is indeed much more advanced than any other phones available on the market, I think the Yakuza in control of the Ruler is much- and I mean MUCH more stronger and technologically advanced than I percieved and that's not a good news.
