I was shocked. I sit there on the cold floor of my room, too speechless to even gasp. 5000 USD/ month. Wait! If you get that much for being in the top 108 then how many can you get if you're top 50 above.
I scrolled up until I saw the top 50 rank.
'Hmm? The Underdog?' I thought. 'Oh? Can you alter your name? That's a cool function.' I clicked on his profile and saw his real name besides the bolded nickname.
"10.000?!" I said aloud. The room outside suddenly became quiet as I heard footsteps coming towards my room. I quickly hid the cases and all the boxes in my bathroom.
The door opens, "Are you okay, Kenma-kun?" Teko-san asked.
"Mhm. I was just reading the article." I showed him my ancient phone.
"Ah. Okay. Anyways, Kageru-kun ordered lunch… Ugh…" He snaps his finger thrice as if trying to remember something, "Ah yeah! He ordered you chicken katsu."
"Oh! Let me get my walle-
"No need, Kenma-kun! It's our pay to congratulate you on your first day."
"Oh." I said and wondered in my head, 'Is that the norm here?'
I opened my mouth once more, "Then… I thank you?"
"Yeah it's alright. Just be good with us for the rest of the year, aight?"
"Aight!"
Teko-san closed the door and I grabbed the Ruler phone that I hid behind my back. '10.000 USD/ month. Wow! That's just… Unbelievable.' When suddenly a ting ringtone interrupted my wonder. It came from the Ruler phone.
I looked at it and I saw a notification down below besides my profile picture. I clicked on it.
'Hmm? Jae-ha? Who the hell?' I clicked on his notification and saw his message.
'Hmm? Stake? Placement ranking?' I chatted back to him.
As I wait for his response I click back at my home where I see the leaderboard and all the people placed there. I looked at the top of the page and saw 3 sections.
The current page is set to 'Now', so I speculate that this leaderboard was used for the current rulers who aren't retired or dead. I clicked on the retired section.
I saw many old people, some in their twenties, some in their forties or sixties. They all seemed to have their own cool nicknames but some used their own names as their preferred nickname. I scrolled to the very bottom and noticed that there are more Rulers here than in the 'Now' section. It has 4120 people. They're all Rulers.
That's a lot. A fuck ton if I may add.
I then clicked the 'All-time' section and clicked on the profile of the first person on the leaderboard as it intrigues me. All-time just means that it's the leaderboard for all Rulers to ever exist.
The name of the first place of 'All-time' section is none other than,
"Mado Kirisu." I mumbled.
The legend that Kota-kun told me about. The man that was feared by multiple generations. The first ever Ruler to exist.
I saw his status below his name.
"He's dead huh? That's unfortunate. I was hoping that I'm able to fight with him."

"Hmm? Family… Members?" Beneath the Income chart, a button that says 'family members' can be seen. "Okay then. Isn't this a possible blackmail material, if you can access this, publicly." But I remembered one of the Rulers' code; Do not involve any civilians in a fight. "So I guess this information can't be taken advantage of, huh."
But since I was curious I clicked it anyway.
Wife: ???
Son: ???
"Grandson, huh? How old was this guy before he died?" I scratched my hair while scrolling through his account trying to venture deep into his world.
There are stories about him, but since he died before the first ever videographer was born, there are no recordings about him fighting. There is a photo. An ancient one. One that is covered with a vintage theme, with all those yellowy, no colors, setting.
In this photo was a man in his twenties that had a tattoo all around his body, enveloping him whole. Beside him is a beautiful woman that seems to be a foreigner from the US. Both of them have a gleeful smile on their faces.
I wonder if this picture has a history. I suppose it does, any picture has one. It's a beautiful picture to look at, nevertheless.
I stood up as I was tired to sit on the floor and flop down on my bed where it's comfy and cozy. I continued to read his account when suddenly I scrolled down once more but was met with a blockade. The bottom of the line.
I clicked out of his account and went and saw that there's one notification on the 'Direct message' section.
"Jae-ha. His nickname is 'Sasin' meaning; Reaper in korean. He seems like a foreigner, a very-very wealthy one." I mumbled his account I read before I clicked his notification.
I then type on the keyboard hastily, because my body adapted to it after seeing Kageru type something very quick both in his phone and his laptop.
I waited for another 3 seconds then he sent me this.
He simply types.
'Interesting. You don't have to defeat them to take their place. You can just garner points by defeating the lower Rulers.' I thought.
"Alright then, Jae-ha. Let's see what you have for me." I said while going to his profile and clicked history.
I noticed when I searched through Mado Kirisu's account that you can see other Rulers' history. I thought perhaps-just-perhaps there is a slight bit of chance where there is a video of him fighting.
I clicked on it. But found… absolutely nothing. Nice. Welp, at least I tried.
I clicked out of the Ruler's app to see what I can do with the phone more. I see an AppStore so I suppose this works just like other phones, but more… advanced.
'Can I use this phone as a normal phone? But then I would be tracked every time I move… However the one who will be tracking me is whoever owns the Ruler app.' I thought. 'I don't believe anyone could hack into this app and I trust those Rulers. I trust them because they're like me.
