Elton stared at their company name for almost two hours, he can't wait to have it and rule the entire company because he's been waiting for this time to come and this is it.
But he sighed because somehow, this isn't the thing he wished for. He assumed bringing his dad a fiance will change everything between him and his father. His family wasn't perfect as the people around them think, his mother is rigid, while his father knows nothing but nag at him.
His whole life is fake, even the happiness they keep talking about.
"Fantasizing while sitting in our father's seat? That's kinda rude, Elton."
His brother's voice echoes, and he doesn't have a choice but to face his annoying half-brother. Elton never gets tired of dealing with him, even if he needs to do that all day. He's definitely down to deal with Chris.
"Not done yet?" He inquired after turning the chair around to confront him.
His eyes landed on Chris's hand that was wrapped with gauze, "Did you fight with someone out there because dad choose me instead of you?"
"Close. I was bitten by a dog."
"Really? Sounds interesting."
They remained looking like talking to each other will made them vomit, but Elton didn't surprise if his brother came to unleash a new problem on their family.
"When your wedding will be held?" Chris ask.
"You sure about your question? It shouldn't be about my wedding, I know what questions keep bothering your mind."
He smirked, "I don't care if dad chooses his son who doesn't know anything about business."
"You know what Chris?" He stood up and start walking toward his brother, while his hands are inside his pocket, and said, "Obviously, you are mad because our father choose me instead of his oldest son. He chooses to hand to me the R&R corporation, than giving to his knowledgeable, successful son."
"You shouldn't carry such an unneeded grudge to be considered by our father."
Chris clenched his fist tightly and his jaw, he can't accept the fact their father wants his stubborn, playboy, troublemaker son than him. He doesn't want to accept that he lost with his idiot young brother, who only knows how to cause trouble.
"This company's worth more than your life. He must think you are worthy to be the CEO of this company, but I'll tell you what."
He step closer to Elton and stopped inches away from his brother, "You started this game so I'll do anything to stop this myself. I'll prove to my father who is better than us, imprinted that in your small brain."
"Deal. I can't wait to see you cry on the corner while I celebrate my success, in this story, I am the winner and you are the loser."
"You never learn how to respect me!" He said emphatically.
Elton chuckled sarcastically, "You have to earn my respect, brother. But it takes time to earn Richard's trust, especially since you are the main villain. Trusting villains is not my thing."
That sentence was enough to annoy his older brother, which made Chris leave without a word to say and shut the door violently. While Elton? The grind on his lips never came out, he's glad to see how mad his brother was.
Because putting the villain in his right place is very satisfying. He can even do that all his life and the satisfying feeling will remain. Elton turn his back again to return to the chair he left, but he stop when he heard the door open again.
"Still have words to say, br—" he stops when he realized it wasn't his brother.
"Did you and Chris fight again while I'm away? I'm not surprised if one of you is found dead and the other one hiding from the law," his father uttered while walking to his seat.
His gaze followed his father until he was seated on the chair, and remain standing while waiting for his father's lectures. Since he can't escape the fact, he needs to receive his father's nagging now.
"Since you keep your promise to me. I want to give you the reward you've been talking to me, I see your potential being a good influence on this company, but..."
"What?"
"You have to prove that woman wasn't rented, and she's your real fiance."
He froze for a moment because that word was not what he expected to hear from his father. Elton didn't see that one coming since that's unlikely to happen, which is not.
"Pardon?"
"That woman mentioned your wedding so I think she's not fake, but for assurance that you'll never use this company against me. You must marry that girl."
Suddenly, his world was torn apart. Letting her say those in front of his father was part of his plan, so it turned out to be real. But he didn't expect his father's sudden request, marrying her was not part of his plans.
Maybe a fake wedding but a real one? His plan didn't work very well.
"Are you asking me to marry her in front of the whole world?" He inquired, just making sure if he clearly understand his father.
"Yes, what's wrong with that? The whole world will be happy to meet the new CEO and my son's wife without a doubt."
"But—I wasn't—" he sighed, "Can we have at least a small wedding and fewer guests? She's shy and cameras are not good for her."
"How can you tell?"
"Because... She never takes selfies and always avoids me whenever I'm trying to take one."
"Still, I want to see my son get married and see my grandsons."
"What?!" He shouted in shock.
"Your brother can't conceive a child because of his condition, and I'm hoping you can give me one before I left the world."
He didn't speak and remained silent. His plans are not working as he expected, he thought his father wouldn't think about that stuff. He's not yet ready to be a husband and even more, he's not ready to give up his teenage life.
"Call your fiance and tell her that we're having a family dinner tonight."
