Chapter 25 - 25 An Allergy

" Will she regain her memories anytime soon?" he managed to ask as he bit his lower lip.

" Probably but there's so much uncertainty.

Her family's support, your support, mediation, mindful activities may help her relax the mind, which may help her retrieve forgotten memories. She shouldn't undergo stress of any kind.

" Meanwhile, the noticable symptoms aren't undermining her ability to look after herself... but look after her as well and notify me as soon as possible changes occur."

Doctor Tony patted Lucas sympathetically on his back and gave him his contact card.

" Feel free to call me anytime. You may leave now," he added and trudged towards the door and out of the office.

The cab driver pulled the brakes of his cab in front of a neatly furnished duplex that had well trimmed grasses in the lawn and sunflowers in the front garden.

Lucas who was currently dressed in a blue t-shirt and a pair of black jeans helped Cassidy get out of the car after he opened the door.

Cassidy followed his lead obediently after the cab driver drove off.

She took one last stare at the new environment before she entered the house.

" Welcome home, Cassidy," his faltered voice broke the long, awkward silence that lingered between them.

Cassidy pulled her clothe behind.

" Is that my name?"

Lucas nodded.

Cassidy smiled broadly.

" Come with me," he said to her.

Cassidy followed obediently.

She prevented the abrupt hit of her body on Lucas' by her improvised halt.

She hadn't noticed he had stopped in front of a door because she had been busy staring at the paintings on the wall.

The first painting was a cyborg - beautifully decorated.

The second painting seemed to depict a war or something.

Lucas held her hand and walked into the room after he opened the door.

He plodded tediously to the wardrobe and placed a bag in it.

" You'll be staying here for the moment," he began.

He bit his lip to stop himself from letting out a tear.

This house held all his shattered memories.

He had lived there before transferring to the lair - and here he was again.

He was back in the same house.

" You'll have everything you need as long as you call on me.

" The clothes are in the bag."

He had bought her some clothes after the doctor announced her condition.

He moved closer to her and held her closely.

He stared at her.

That wasn't pity - he knew it.

But at this point, his hands were tied. There was no where to run to.

He loosened his grip on her arms.

" Let me know if you need anything."

He walked out of the room and shut the door behind.

Cassidy watched the stars invade the dark sky through the kitchen window; the stars shimmered brightly.

" The food is ready," Cassidy said and pushed the unconscious Lucas violently; he lay on the couch.

Lucas groaned in his sleep.

He had a disturbing dream.

He finally opened his eyes weakly ( he looked startled.)

He had slept on the couch while lost in his thoughts.

" What are you doing here?"

Cassidy hesitated in speech before she finally spoke.

Her words came out soft.

" You looked hungry. I thought it would be nice to make food for you.

" I made rice."

His icy stare bored into her; it made it hard for him to back away.

Lucas' intent gaze at her made her feel overwhelmed.

She felt her heart stumble over its own rhythm.

" I've placed it on the dining table," she rattled on.

Lucas felt his murderous blaze wear off when his stomach rumbled.

He reluctantly stood up and trudged towards the dinning table.

Cassidy unceremoniously grabbed his hand but she let go of his hand when he shot her a hard, cold glare.

Lucas violently pulled the chair out; he sat down and proceeded to eat.

The rice had the right amount of chewiness.

He glanced at Cassidy who came to sit opposite him.

She smiled broadly and exposed her white upper teeth slightly.

" I hope you like it."

Lucas stopped with the spoon midway in the air.

He smiled surprisingly.

" Why aren't you eating?"

Cassidy found herself stuttering.

Why was she even being shy?

She had eaten her full already.

" I'm not hungry."

Lucas felt his heart stop beating abruptly.

Something was wrong.

His fingertips automatically turned cold before he could avert his eyes from hers.

" Is something wrong?" she asked filled with concern.

Lucas tightened his fists and rose from the chair violently.

He slammed the table in fury.

" Leave the table."

Cassidy trembled under his voice.

She tried to touch him but he shoved her hand away violently.

" Leave now!"

She sat still.

Her blue eyes brimmed with nothing but confusion.

" What...."

Lucas violently pulled the table up and threw it down in the blink of an eye.

The porcelain plates shattered on the floor and the food spilled all over the sitting room.

Cassidy was jolted forcefully by the noisy crash.

She gaped wide-eyed when Lucas wheezed uncontrollably.

He was short of breath and she noticed his body swell as well.

" Lucas, are you okay?"

She rushed to him impetuously ( she stepped incautiously into the broken porcelain) and prevented him from falling to the ground where the porcelain plates had broken.

" Help," she screamed.

" Help!"

Cassidy felt his pulse ( weak and rapid.) Gradually, he was becoming unconscious.

Rashes appeared on his skin and just then, something crawled out from underneath his body.

Cassidy winced.

Those broken pieces of the porcelain pierced and burned her skin.

She peered at it closely.

A wasp?!

An allergy; he had an insect sting allergy.

Just while she was about to scream again, something caught her attention. It stood in front of her eyes and gazed intently at Lucas and herself.

It bent over Lucas' body and pulled him away from Cassidy's grip.

" A wasp bit him, and...."

It quickly pulled out a substance from the pouch on its body.

It had the substance injected into Lucas' body and he stopped wheezing.
