Chapter 10 - Unconditional

The first thing Anastasia noticed on Cinderella the moment she walked in the room behind Bruce was her seemingly cleaned face. She had certainly washed herself before coming through. However clean it was also simple. Plain. Like her personality in a way - plain, boring and also somehow healthy.

Anastasia both admired and felt annoyed by exactly that at the very same time. She admired her for being someone she was never allowed to be. She disliked her for embodying all the characteristics she was always taught to look down on. It was complicated. However, she stayed quiet, as she had been taught to do in situations where silence was worth more than emotionally confused words.

It was clear that the moment the prince saw her, he knew it was her. He smiled and could not wait for her to try on the shoe. She did, and it fit. They embraced, and he promised her that he would never leave. Whatever could come their way.

As this happened Drizella, who had found the corage to come back down from her room to witness the scene grew pale in agner. As did Anastasia, because she had just undergone traume for nothing. She spared Drizella from the pain she faced, and managed to lead the prince to Cinderella. But Anastasia had lost a part of her body, helped save the rest, and would never be recognized for any of her actions. She could just stand there as something that did not matter. As a piece of a chess board game that could be sacrificed in order to save Dri, and then quite literally save the pawn that would latter become a queen.

Anastasia's heart grew dark then, and she mentally excused herself for the rest of the afternoon. Whatever happened next she did not really remember because she did not want to. Not even when Cinderella and the prince strode off on the prince's horse. Anastasia disassociated, and just waited for the day to be over.
